One must note that the Pitch or hertz at the time period of Caruo was not 440hz (A) it was 430 or 432. The 440 hertz was introduced during the Second World war because it created a brighter sound to rouse the public. Also to note that when a record is being played back it raises the pitch by half a step due to the revolutions/speed. Therefore Caruso's voice although not a Baritone per say did have a more darker quality then what we are accostomed to hearing. Nonethe less Caruso was and still is the Greates tenor in my Book!

His voice is really one sent from heaven. Listen to the "The Art of Caruso" and you will appreciate and admire his greatness. That's the reason he is called "Great." China has "The Great Wall." Italy has"The Great Caruso."

It is excellent. On the same pitch there should be very little difference between a tenor and baritone. Unfortunately in modern singing there is. Tenors are too light and baritones are thick. There were times when the audience did not know if it was Scotti (a baritone) or Caruso singing. Caruso once sung for the baritone when he lost his voice. He stood behind him and sung the baritone aria, while the baritone facing the audience mouthed it. This is what proper registration does. It leads to a rich full voice. And the very definition of open throat singing.

Why did the recording end?

Having got a copy of this 1916 Recording Reissued under licence by His Master's Voice in the Golden Treasury of Immortal Performances Record Number CSLP-508 and the LP Record is Sacred Music I found this Transfer almost as good as my copy and the LP Record came out in 1956

Well I've got Some Enrico Caruso Records Reissued under licence by His Master's Voice in the Golden Treasury of Immortal Performances and the Clarity of the Recording Transfers are very good:they are Straight Transfers from 78rpm to tape and from tape to Vinyl and even the Record labels on all the Records has been Copied and looks like an old 78rpm Record on a white label and anyone who likes Historical Recordings I urge he or she to buy those Records they are CSLP and then the Record Number
