- For some reason, there appears to be some delay when beacons are able to apply all new glass colors to their beam every tick whenever I make the machine that interacts with the beacon taller than 10 blocks. It's briefly mentioned in some other beacon video that I can't quite recall, and I'm not sure why it happens.

Texture Pack Details:
Vanilla Tweaks(This affects mainly everything involved with 3D-ifying components and see through scaffolding and the Dark Mode GUI), Ph1lza’s Diamond Netherite Highlights Pack, some random netherite elytra pack you can probably find by googling.
Shader Details: I use Complimentary Reimagined, on the mod Iris Shaders. Complimentary Shaders is similar and also great.
The World is generated using the Terralith Datapack.

Well, the median player certainly doesn't, but the *average* player... well still probably not. I have dozens of thousands in my survival world, and presumably there's other maniacs dragging the average up too, but I doubt it would be enough unless we count creative mode players.

I love how much you reduced and simplified the design. I’ve loved the idea of rainbow beacons ever since I first saw it, and have been trying to make tileable design to make a rainbow wave effect (gotta have that gaming beacon)

I've been playing this game for over 12 years now but I never knew that you could combine beacon beam colors. This is some seriously cool stuff. I had no idea anything like this was even possible in this game.
even more - you can put a glass pane *inside* of the ray to make the glass not visible at all! how cool is that?

This made me think about how a type of glass that inherits the color of a beacon going through it would be really interesting, maybe something like copper infused glass? Would make some cool builds. Could also have some other functionality to make it less niche like toggleable transparency or one-way transparency.

I did a similar thing a while ago, after cubicmetre's huge binary beacon video. It was a 127*7 color design with a feed tape with 7 colors and 7 layers stacked on top of each other, and the top 6 layers had a system to shuffle the two currently active colors back and forth. It was a bit less compact because I was 0-ticking everything to get instant seamless color transitions and my 0tick module wasn't particularly compact, but it worked. I also had a smaller one with 7*15 colors which had both a color cycle mode and a manual input with buttons and a lectern to set a specific color.
I just saw the video on your channel. Having a color selector is very cool! Cubicmetre is also what first inspired me to make a similar design on bedrock.

Hey, how do you design your own color transitions (like you did at 9:35)? Is there a tool for it, or is it just trial n error?
His previous video on beacon color theory goes into more detail on how the color mixing works
@@tortoise-chan yes, but there’s a difference between 1 in-between color, and a whole transition
@kacpergryba2307 well, the beacons shown at 9:35 are cycling through preset sequences of colors. The sequences in question are from pride flags, not designed by squibble per se. And if you have a sequence, like blue-pink-white-pink-blue for example, making a smooth beacon is just a matter of making transitions for each pair of adjacent colors in the sequence. The process of doing that is essentially just iterating through the possible permutations of stained glass, which he demonstrated in his previous video

In Bedrock you don’t even have to worry about the flashing default beacon beam!… because beacon beam colour changes take inconsistently multiple seconds. Seriously though I love this. I find binary in Minecraft fascinating, and I love how you can see it so clearly here in such a beautiful way. I built the regular non-mechanical rainbow strip in creative (Bedrock) awhile back, and I really wanted to try make a single colour changing beacon beam, but I ran into the aforementioned problem fairly quickly while building a feed tape design. I got excited when I saw this, even though I knew it wouldn’t work on Bedrock, but I just love your videos anyway. I held onto a bit of hope that it might somehow work on Bedrock, but then you started talking about zero tick nonsense so I knew it was hopeless. Great video as always
It is very possible on bedrock, and even easier. The beacon does not update randomly, but rather exactly once every 4 seconds. This means that as long as the glass is not moving when it updates it works. Only downside is that you can’t really get quick, smooth transitions.

Here’s an idea for a video: I know many people want beacons in their base but don’t like how obtrusive the beam can be in the sky for your builds. Is it possible to design a piston device with colored glass to make the color of the beam to match the color of the sky?
I will say a couple issues that come to mind with this is loading/deloading chunks and sleeping through the night. I’ve tried to figure this out myself but daylight sensors are very confusing.
Wow. This is a phenomenal idea. Jeez. It would be very difficult as the colors of the sky are likely very specific, but maybe it could be done.

there is a litematica, but i might prepare a WDL, if many people request it. However, I highly recommend building PeterJiangTW's design, as its just about the same size (I think), and does the same thingc, but they have a block by block tutorial iirc

uhh i wasnt on the right version and at the time of building it, they werent in a version my redstone mods were ported too

7:12 It actually reminds me of the palette limitations of earlier PC games, where the screen can show many thousands of different shades of colours, but only 8/16/32/256 unique colours in one frame. So "palette swap based design" perhaps?

I’ve seen a bunch of different takes on Rainbow Beacons. But I was wondering, what’s the fastest possible design? Like, how fast can it loop over all the combinations before it has to start over.
The fastest possible design would be a 20 color per second design, but that would be really hard to wire and probably not worth it, unless of course someone can figure out a neat way to. The fastest design I know of is a 10 color per second one that he shows at the end of the video.
