VERY nice indeed! Been using a couple of Waza Craft pedals with a Radial EXTC Stereo as Aux effects instead of rack mount hardware... they work BEAUTIFULLY!
Sounds better then the original. Less colored & more pristine in the high-end. ( less tone sucking ) from buffer. Really nice. Now Boss needs to re-do the Waza Craft High-band Flanger - too. - Michael Caz - NYC -
I own an original black label! and the Waza! I love both but will say this, I prefer the Waza! as it has more options! and I do like that cleaner vibe about it!! the new buffer is GOOD!!! it doesn't effect the quality of the effect! your original signal is just coming through more clear! I think some people get confused when saying the original is warmer :) they are both warm! but one just has a different buffer :) The original does not sound way better as some put it? its not night and day?? in a live situation, nobody would tell
I had a 1980 MIJ Black Label Silver Screw *pre-serial numbers* (batch no. 200) and you nailed it with "syrupy". It was SO lush. Alas, bills took priority over my Purple Rain and Gilmour tones...had to sell.
Lord Jesus' name is not an exclamation for emphasis. Start inserting your own name in place of it, Morph. You won't have to answer to Him later about that.
I kinda like the sound of the old CE2 buffer. (Warm or cloudy). But a GE7 may bring that tone of the waza back closer (if you need too). Especially playing alone, adding a bit more bass and pulling back the trebs a bit would likely get you an even "better" sound than the original CE2. The GE7 pedal has saved me alot of $ buying various OD tones i was once chasing, by just tweaking the current cheaper drive pedals i have (eg: SD1 and NU>X Plexi Crunch). Im still new to the GE7 7band EQ, but it doesnt take much to get a sound you like, or remove something you dont like in a tone.
I own the black label original and this new version, both are so close you wouldn't notice! I would pick the W though as it has more options and has the edge on keeping your guitar signal clearer, its not night and day!!! though like some people think here?? you can't go wrong with either but the W will bring more to a live set! and it has stereo!!!
The more I listen to this demo the more I wish they kept the tone of the original CE-2. Maybe this was not possible with today's components? Maybe they thought the original had a design flaw and they sought fix it? Either way I'll still buy it and try it myself on my guitars and synths.
There's a clear difference between the two, stemming from the new buffer. You can hear the difference in the clean tone. Giving the pedal a modern buffer creates a more open sort of sparkle, the cloudiness of the original created a very warm chorus effect.
I prefer the stereo sound out of the CE-3, which was both A and B outputs offered the mixed direct and effect signal but 180 degrees out of phase with each other. I wish the Waza Craft offered this mode, but alas no.
That 80s original CE-2 sounded gorgeous. Im sure this new one is good, but wow that early 80s pedal has a, aaahmm, a deeper, creamy. I dont how to explain it...its like molasses.
@@kaicottrell1560 show me please! because I haven't found a demo where it does. Are you a CE-1 owner? I'll only trust you if you are. thanks for responding either way!

Sometimes “Cleaner” doesn’t mean better, just saying. I’m trusting my ears on this one, until I try one myself, the original CE-2 sounds better IMO. I have three CE-2s btw lol.
I know this is an older video, and I also know this guy, and sweetwater in general usually makes ok reviews and demos. But holy smokes enough talking lol. Guy plays 2 chords with the pedal on and then they talk for 3 minutes about nonsense. I’d love to understand what you’re talking about if I got to hear more then 3 chords before you started venting to me about comparisons
Blah blah blah so many words. I tried skipping around to get past the talking and actually hear the different settings. But everywhere I stopped, more blah blah blah.
You can't go wrong!! Boss have always made the best sounding chorus in my opinion. It just has something very special about it.
I love this demo, such an old skool vibe with no gimmicks and spot on description. And that musicman sounds GREAT.
I bought my CE 2 in 1982 also. I took it on the road and it was beat to shit and still have it today. Sounds as good as ever.
clear soft and subtle perfect chiming tones definitely worth owning
Please keep doing these kind of demos sweet water!!

Yes I agree ,old school.

Damn, Mitch's original CE-2 sounded gorgeous. Really thick and warm - almost syrupy.

Yes I agree..the old ce2 was much warmer..the new one sounds cold and digital!
Jesus, the CE1 mono is exactly what I hear out of my JC-50! And yes the demo is great! Good explanations no excessive play. Bravo!

@@billtravis523 Beat it!
pretty smooth chorus, would definitely add this to my rig.
Sounds very nice. I have an 1983 original and I find it muddy. I use the DC-2 in Mode 1 for chorus on my guitar live. It's the perfect chorus sound!
Cool banter.
Very good Chorus pedal, one is on its way to me : )
Really Sweet Sound !!
Great demo.

There's a noticeable difference in the sound between the CE-2W and original CE-2...but I'll still buy it.
Thanks for the history lesson
I have boss chorus fx 68 about 34 years old it has stereo and sounds great
sounds good, clean big and clear sound

I went ahead and bought from Sweetwater. I should be able to give it a try next week.

So, it's be better use a CE-3 for Stereo mode and vibrato with a CE-2 vintage for Chorus and not a Waza CE-2w?
Guys i returned this pedal because it basically boosts your volume since it is analog i guess...significant enough for me to return it...
Awesome review---thank you for doing such a through and informative demo, great job!!

Awesome, I hate the CE5; ended up buying used CE2 on ebay. But this is awesome for a modern "re-issue" ....
Thank god I'm keeping my 1987 CE-2 on the board as well as having this, they really sound slightly different
Do you engage them at the same time? Must be cool
forget all Boss chorus pedals except for the Ce20 ensemble.
it blows all the others away.
Do you NEED to plug in to both outputs?
Not atall
I actually like the Waza better. 😏
Me too Miguel :) I think the tone is fuller, warmer, and more balanced :) I absolutely love the CE1 Setting :)
CE-2W sounds I think more bassy while original CE-2 has more bright and sparkly tone. May be cause of components aging?
Waiting for the Waza Craft CE-1 reissue since the CE-1 mode on this unit doesn't even come close. Ugh.
It does lol, turn the rate up to 1'oclock and the depth.

100% analog! Thanks, Mitch.

No worries.
I prefer Waza. The old have too much distortion.
Anybody else feel like they just sold a bunch of secondhand market vintage CE-2's?
Vintage!
Very subtle through my headphones.
Cause the wet and dry signals are hard panned most of the mite in this demo
the old ce-2 sounds better
I'd rather play Purple Rain with the original CE-2
Wish they reissued the ce2 exactly how it used to be made... the ce2w doesn't hold candle to the original...
I prefer the super Chorus ch-1 has a more pronounced and deep dynamic

Wow Mr.Gallagher .....!You've gain some weight back no?I think you are perfect man...Keep up the great videos....
The Original is soooo much better
yeah, a lot better
The waza in ce1 mode is the best though IMO.. but the original like you said ce2 is so much richer, warmer sounding !
The Waza in CE-1 mode is way better than the CE-2
Yeah, it is BUT the Waza does get you closer to the CE-1 with that extra mode. It's a compromise I guess.
Sounds nothing like a CE-1.
would NOT say "nothing". It has a family resemblance.
It does when you have the rate set at 1'oclock, only in ce-1 mode. Especially in stereo
Apart from no ce-1 preamp
bro bro taking Ls 6 year later
