It's helpful to note that most parents will not be bringing outside assessments to an IEP meeting because they won't have them, and that's completely normal. School districts are legally required to evaluate students every two to three years (depending on disability), and a parent can request and evaluation at any time.
Hey there! You are correct. Many parents don't bring outside assessments. At the same time, millions more aren't informed that a write up from their private tutor, OT, or therapist can be a HUGE help at the IEP table. In addition, all parents can write and share their own Parent Report for IEP teams to review and consider. As a school psychologist for 20 years, and a former teacher, I've seen a huge need for reform when it comes to special education assessments and IEP development. Together we can empower families and teachers at the table! Are you a teacher or provider at the table? Would love to hear more.
Waiting for more informative videos :)
