- Hey guys! This gunpla tutorial video is about how to make a regular snapfit gunpla to look amazing without using an airbrush! I'm just going to use enamel paint, panel line accent, topcoat, and water slide decals! Even only with these tools, you can make your gunpla kit amazing!
This is my first ever Gunpla video on TH-cam channel and I hope you guys can give opinion and ideas to me on how I can improve more on making gunpla content :)

For a super minimalist way to add metallics for frame details like piping and pistons, Sharpie permanent markers have silver, gold and bronze. It's neither as precise as a good brush nor as easy to clean up mistakes with thinner as your method. And they only really work over small areas IMO. But it's super fast since it requires basically no set up or take down for cleaning the brush, and one doesn't need anything other than the marker. I would say it's clearly not as good as painting, but if you're not going to paint, it is a low hassle, mess, and expense method of upgrading a kit's look.

Won't the enamel thinner damage the plastic? Or did you top coat the model before applying details?

I have switched to masking and spraying. I use a $30 ebay compressor and a $9 ebay airbrush. For under $40, a novice can paint like a champ. Sprayed basecoats accept waterslides better as well. I love that this video is for those just starting out. A good self leveling topcoat can do wonders, but an airbrush lays a very consistent layer of paint to start from. Everyone go get your cheap airbrushes, but hand painting small details is still a must, so Brush up!!!
In Malaysia, 1RM (Malaysia's currency) are about 4USD. So it's pretty expensive to buy an airbrush

Comecei nesse hobby a uns 7 meses já tenho alguns kits e se o cara começa a montar, customizar ele vicia... Kkkkk, espero ter ajudado

Yes u can use acrylic paint too! You can paint directly with acrylic without thinning. If its too thick for you, you can thin it with water 😊

Dude I just want to start into gunpla and planing to build rg sazabi as my second gunpla (my first will become my guinea pig), since I can't really use airbrush in my place I'm worried I will not have a good quality result and your video just remove my worries, thx a lot!
Im glad it helps! Hopefully you can enjoy during the process! Ofcourse airbrushing will give you more freedom, but without airbrush also you can get a great result! Take your time, dont rush! 👍🏻
@@EAGunpla I'm also considering getting a photo etch for sazabi but a lot of people don't recommend those for beginner, is it that hard to apply or can you made a video about it? I really love how you explain things
I just want to add. Use tamiya panel line accent with care. As they tend to crack bare plastic. Might want to top coat the kit before actually putting any panel line.
Nicely done! How long do you allow the accent color to dry before cleaning with thinner? In my case the paint smudges easily, making the white armor parts look dirty.
Thank you!! ☺️ usually i left it dry about 30mins before cleaning it with thinner. Its normal to have smudges, just keep cleaning it 😁

Just purchased Sazabi decals for a 1/144 scale. I want details and perfection. My issue is airbrushing. Sometimes when connecting to joints the paint cracks. I realzed to leave the joints alone from paint for smoother connections. I like these tips. I want simplicity yet details. I am going tontry a more minialist approach.

Enamels are amazing for painting details since they take a long time to dry and so they self-level. You can get similar results with acrylics but it definitely takes a lot more practice in order to get the paint, thinner, retarder and even brush type right in order to have smooth results. A great video so that noobs can be inspired to build and detail their kits without having to feel like they are being held back because they don't have an airbrush.

Hey I have some quick questions. 1.Did you use the enamel thinner after the paint dried or did you use it right after painting and 2. Would nail polish remover be a good alternative to thinner?
1. Use enamel thinner after the paint dried 2. Don't use nail polish because nail polish has acetone and acetone will destroy plastic. Use paint thinner because it's safer.

I see people do this for painting details: paint right away without applying primer. Is it recommended to do so or should i prime those little parts first?
I'm a total noob when it comes to painting. But. I think because these are small details and won't probably handle stress, priming shouldn't be that necessary.
A top coat to protect everything is important tho

Aku x pernah pkai dakwat panel lining punya, tp aku dh try panel lining marker and padam dgn pmadam je. Tp serious payah ah nk clean line yg comot tu. And kadang2 bila ko padam tu dia punya dakwat hitam tu boleh nmpak kesan "stain" esp kt part2 warna putih. Ramai ckp pkai dakwat punya nmpak lagi uniform dia punya thickness line dia. Nnti nk try kot

Hi, ada few questions nak tanya 😀 Bila spray top coat, kena disassemble parts dahulu ? Kalau spray top coat kat assembled kit, akan affect joints kit tu bila articulate ? Berapa lama kena tunggu top coat kering ?
Slalunya boleh terus spray topcoat ke assembled kit, tp pecahkan kepada setiap parts. Kepala, badan, tgn, kaki dan aksesori. Kalau nk topcoat each small parts pun boleh tp mmg banyak pakai paint topcoat tu. Haha. So nak jimat spray ke assembled kit terus tp pisahkan setiap anggota. Kalau nak fully cured dlm 24 hours. Tp topcoat or any lacquer paints dah kering utk disentuh dalam 4-5 minit aje 😁
