      Thinking of dyes, I wish we could dye shulkers, bundles, etc the same way we dye leather armor (not just red or blue but many shades of color.) I never got why leather armor was so different.

    I would like pet beds that would allow pets to roam my base, without worrying about them teleporting to me when I’m out and about. They could move within a radius and retreat to their beds, like villagers, at night.

      I like this idea. I think the way I would like to see this work is that if you right click the pet within the radius of the pet bed, it toggles them into "stay" mode, like it does currently. But instead of *stay* just being sitting it would allow them to wander in the radius.

    Etho had another great idea to help with inventory management, feel free to show this one off in a future video and credit him: Allow the Blast Furnace, which is underutilized atm, to turn cut blocks back into their original block form, e.g. turn chiseled/polished/stair/wall blocks back into the raw full blocks, as long as the conversion ratio is still the same (for slabs maybe need to combine 2 of them into a chiseled block first?). That way we don't need to store every version of a block in our storage, we can just store it in raw form, which we can reshape to whatever we need for every build.

    • @BinaryWhale
      @BinaryWhale 13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      I too like the idea of the blast furnace being a recycler of sorts. With the create mod, it's the grinding wheels, but in vanilla, I think the blas furnace is the best block, unless a new recycler block is added. I often add recipes to allow items to be recycled, or make them farmable. For example, in the blas furnace: glass goes to sand, gravel goes to sand, and things of that sort.

    The ender anchor is a cool idea, but it raises some questions:
    1) What happens if you make multiple?
    2) How is it linked to the player? Surely not just by placing it?
    3) Wouldn't these also need to function as self-starting chunk loaders in order to function to player expectations?

    • @ignore2466
      @ignore2466 19 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +4

      I had the same concerns, especially once cub mentioned extracting inventory items by a hopper below. There has to be a safe and reliable way to link these to 1 and only 1 player.

    • @pseudopod
      @pseudopod 18 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +5

      My ideas for this:
      1) Probably best if you can only have one linked at a time, but the other option of linking multiple would mean more than one type of item would refilling.
      2) Either the player gives it an item like with the alley or you'd also need to spend an item to charge it. (The most obvious charging items are crying obsidian, ender crystal, or netherite ingot if you want to make it really expensive.)
      3) Make it only self-load the one chunk it is in and only partially load it to so redstone is active.

    • @bell2023
      @bell2023 15 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      My idea solves these!
      Void Satchel and dispensing bundles
      First, I'll talk about bundle dispensing mechanics. Then I'll go over void satchels. I made art for them but no images in yt comments ofc
      So, when a dispenser tries to dispense a bundle, it'll do 1 of 2 things. If it's facing into a block with an inventory, it will move the last item in the inventory into the bundle. If it's not, it'll dump out the top stack of items in the bundle, like right clicking with a bundle normally. Either way, the bundle stays in the dispenser.
      The reason it takes out the last item instead of the first like hoppers is that:
      * It gives more options for item tech.
      * It just feels right to me in this case.
      ------------------------------
      An eye of ender surrounded by 7 rabbit hide and a netherite ingot --> 2 unopened void satchels.
      - Right click with an unopened satchel to turn it into a void satchel, giving it a unique ID. (similarly to maps)
      A void satchel acts like a bundle, except all satchels with the same ID share an inventory. (similarly to ender chests)
      - Void satchel + unopened satchel --> 2 void satchel, with the same ID as the original
      - Void satchel --> unopened satche

      @@cubfan Hey Cub, regarding Bdubs, Doc and Ethos' recent stream convo ( 2:27:56 on "Bdubs Moving Day and Friend Hangout" stream) about block parity, half-slabs and a hypothetical chisel...
      Imho the best things Mojang could do for Minecraft is make it so if you place a slab on the upper-quarter of the lower-half of the block beside it that counts as placing the slab vertically (lower-half of the lower-half placement on the block beside, or on the top of the block below, would be the regular horizontal slab orientation of course).
      If they then brought the other solid blocks to parity regarding walls, buttons, slabs, stairs etc. and made a chisel tool like the archeology brush that manually disconnects the vertical walls and glass panes when you click inbetween them you would have everything.
      Clicking the top half of a wall or glass pane with a chisel would make a half-wall/glass pane, and another click would make a quarter-wall/glass pane that could also be clicked between to manually disconnect them (and again to be destroyed completely).
      The chisel would also let you chisel full blocks into inside and outside corner stairs so you could have those blocks wherever you wanted, be the way you get quarter-slabs from slabs, and 1/8th block "bits", (chiseling a bit would destroy it completely not unlike a quarter-wall/glass pane).
      This could add VERY customizable SUPER fine detail (not to mention give you the ability to create a nice varied height "broken" window effect). It would also allow you to make INSANE glass sculptures, layered glass effects, particle designs like glass smoke and fire etc.
      The chisel should destroy blocks so they cant go back in your inventory when mined/broken (much better for inventory management). If you wanted you should be able to take the chisel and break a full block all the way down to one bit then destroy it completely (same goes for walls and glass panes only they go in the 2D plane not 3D so it goes, full wall/pane, into half-wall/pane, into quarter-wall/pane, then fully destroyed).
      It's a trade-off, any full block you make into a stair variant, stair you make into a slab, slab into quarter-slab, or quarter-slab into bit, then gets destroyed when broken or mined (same thing with manually disconnecting walls and panes with the chisel or making half or quarter-walls/panes, it causes ANY altered block to disappear when you mine or otherwise break/destroy them, it shouldn't matter how many times you've manipulated it only if you've touched it once).
      Any really painstakingly detailed area would have to be lit up and protected from getting destroyed. That keeps it as kind of a special, niche super detail-oriented thing like armor stand work (which should also be in vanilla Minecraft by now fwiw)
      That's probably the best, easiest and most user friendly/intuitive way to give people every permutation without writing a ton of code and/or making some big clunky interface that complicates everything, or weird garbage blocks, or transforms block into other blocks that only serves to further clutter your inventory.
      Just IMAGINE what you could do with bits, buttons and orientable half and quarter-slabs making paths and debris and whatnot, let alone the close-up details on buildings, or sculptures/organics, or shading from a distance, or grass or boosh decorations if you had green half or quarter-glass disconnectable panes...
      So many possibilities.

    I like the idea of the ender depot; to add to this; is a mod I actually use(and Xisuma talked about as an idea in an older video which brought the mod into existence) enchanted shulkers; basically it adds 2 new enchants to the game; siphon and refill; when put on the shulker it does just that; siphon; say you have a shulker with 1 block in each slot(27 sand for instance) when mining sand it fills the shulker before your inventory; and refill is the opposite you have a stack in your hand and as long as the shulker is in your inventory it removes that item from the shulker before your inventory. This has been a huge help in builds I do or material gathering and to me feels very vanilla (I use it a lot for rockets too)... if added to vanilla; just make them loot from end cities. The mod is called "enchantedshulkers" if interested in reading more about it

    Totally on board with placeable quartz. I'd love to be able to place all mined gems and ores (they'd add a lot of color to greenery, until new flowers come along, to customized coral reefs, to fence posts and chains, and already exist in-game,) but quartz to go with the amethyst clusters would be #1. Here is a suggestion: When pulling back a trident to throw it, it should not slow you down like when using a bow. I think this would be a cool feature that would give a unique advantage to the trident and makes it a more reasonable alternative to a bow because currently tridents are pretty under utilized outside of taking on sea temples. This is just one idea but it would be nice if Tridents had more practical uses.

    To go with the nether quartz idea, there should be quartz geodes in the nether with quartz variants of the amethyst block and budding amethyst block as well as the clusters.
    I strongly agree with the Pale Garden ideas! Unfortunately, like many MC biomes, it feels empty and not fully realized. I would love if it lived up to its name and had pale variants of plants and crops. A pale rose bush, pale lilacs, pale carrots, maybe even a turnip. The pale pumpkins should have a unique carved pumpkin face. In fact, I would love a soft update for pumpkins that gives them some face variation.
    Archeology was such a letdown. I love the idea, don't get me wrong, but we just haven't been given enough incentive to make it worth it. There needs to be more loot. Decorative fossils would be cool IMO. Personally, the copper golems could be a cool easter egg, but I'd still want to be able to construct them myself.

  • @xyzzy_

    I rarely comment but just wanna give props for the ender depot. I've had a similar idea ever since Doc showed off shadowtech in HC S8, though I think in order to make the concept feature-complete and balanced, there needs to be a way to link a depot to a single player - or, rather, a single inventory slot. I've always imagined this working with the addition of a new treasure item added to End Cities, basically a tether between 1 slot in the player's inventory and the depot. This item can't be crafted, inherently limiting the number of depots you can take advantage of, and would work the same way the existing compass+lodestone interaction behaves, where right-clicking on a depot with a tether links its inventory to that tether.
    When the player places an item into the tether, the depot becomes active and its inventory will mirror the tethered slot. In effect, the depot is similar to a pot, with a single item slot that can hold 1 full stack of any item. If the depot could be read by a comparator, then integrating it with storage systems becomes much simpler!
    For instance, if you want to use the depot to gather sand, set a hopper below to unlock when the depot signal strength exceeds a threshold. If you're using it to place dirt, set a hopper above to unlock when the signal strength drops below a threshold. You could also use it like an end-game bundle: if there's a hopper below that's always unlocked, the instant you place any item into the tethered slot, it's removed and sent to your storage. This would allow for ALL item types to be used with the depot.
    That being said, this would easily be the most overpowered utility in the game, and I think other people in the comments have the right idea of requiring some kind of fuel in order for the depot to be active, which could work similarly to the respawn anchor such that refueling can be automated with a dispenser.
    Anyway, great series Cub, I'm a bit of a hardliner when it comes to the features I consider adherent to Minecraft's design principles, but there have been a lot of ideas here that I feel are no-brainers. Recently I've felt that Minecraft could benefit from a "custodian" team, similar to how Stellaris is developed, where a small subset of developers is tasked with keeping older features consistent with the newer direction and making the whole game feel more cohesive as a result. Hopefully these videos generate more constructive feedback for Mojang!

    I think the Pale Garden should have Pale Ruins; an archeology site that serves as a source of decorative quartz blocks, new sherds and trims, and mostly bone blocks, and it is themed more like a cemetery.
    Instead of the pervasive fog you suggested, I think another flower that should be in the Pale Garden that emits a mist or fog in a radius similar to cherry blossom leaves and spore blossoms.

    I've been thinking about backpacks for a while now, and my idea is that it would take the chestplate slot making that slot an option between defense, mobility or utility. You'd have to place it to access the inventory so it doesn't add bulk to the UI or change the current look and feel of the game, but you'd able to pickblock from it, and if your inventory is full picked up items go into the backpack only if it's equipped. This would give the utility of added inventory for building and resource collecting but I think it would still feel very vanilla in that it doesn't change the look or gameplay, while also being an active decision players have to make while building and resource collecting, and adding a risk to parts of the gameplay by taking the place of peoples active defensive options, and should add a lot of funny deaths where people forget to swap to their elytra and just walk off the edge of what they're building.

    This was one of my favorite List videos! So many great ideas here; I've found myself wishing for an alpha function for banners, but it would be even better if you had a second type of banner (maybe crafted with a full bottom row of sticks or adding two iron nuggets to the recipe) that would be static when placed on any two vertically adjacent full blocks. Imagine the explosion of design possibilities when you can add your own overlays to blocks!
    Also, not to nitpick, but those aren't creaking particles: they're sublimated resin. And we all know that resin is a biome defense strategy: it represents the bioaccumulation of all pigment in the Pale Garden. Intruders stand out like a Carnival dancer at a wake.

    I think it would help inventory/resource gathering if Shulker Boxes had a feature or enchantment/something where if held in the off-hand, items you pick up would automatically go into the Shulker Box. So if you're out digging up a whole desert for a build, you could put some sand in the box and nothing else, making it so all the sand you dug up would go into the box instead of your inventory. This would make it so you don't have to place down the box every time you need to empty your inventory. If you have multiple types of items in it, it would absorb those items. If this is too powerful, they could make it so it only works up to a stack, so you could fill each slot with one sand and fill it that way.

    The way it would work is when a villager is looking for a bed it would prioritize one with the same name as the villager. Villagers would also not use named beds unless it's their bed allowing for players to name their own beds to prevent villagers from sleeping in them.

    Does the ender depot attach to the player that placed it? It also seems like it could be very annoying having items sucked out without being able to remotely turn it off.
    Also, one thing ive always wanted in the game was favoriting items like in terreria. Having an item favorited could block dropping the item with the drop key or having it auto filled into crafting recipes.

    The Ender Depot would have me more excited than the Crafter, honestly. Can hardly think of a bigger QOL improvement than making shadow items a native and officially supported feature. It was really sad to see how quickly and decisively they yeeted everything related to it from the game ever since that discovery, as opposed to embracing the concept. Even if the main concern with those fixes was getting rid of dupe glitches, I really hoped they would see how badly the game needs a mechanic like shadow items. Love the way you showcased it here, let's hope it happens some day!

    My only concern with the Ender Depots would be multiplayer, but that could be rectified by allowing them a very limited inventory, maybe up to the size of a dropper, which functions like an enderchest. This would require players to set them up with at least one item of each type. The depot would then always hold one of that item unless manually swapped. This capacity nerf would also force players to make decisions prioritizing what they want to use it for. It could potentially be upgraded by placing additional depots, requiring players actually play the game instead of sitting on their laurels once the depot is up anywhere in the server.
    Each depot should be able to be locked with redstone like a hopper, without affecting the others. To complement this, and also play into the scalability, the depots would be able to set to either push or pull items. This could potentially be additionally addressed with a comparator signal running into the side of the depot, allowing automatic mode switching, and would be a natural extension of the ways modern redstone additions like the calibrated sculk sensor work.
    To deal with multiple depots, a player could place a depot and switch through tabs for each assigned depot to manually change their settings remotely, so long as that one isn’t connected to any item transports like hoppers or droppers. This could cause griefing concerns on large public servers, but that would easily be addressed with gamerules or by splitting the extractor and inserter modes into two separate blocks.
    My only other concern would be the spam of too many players connected to the same depot trying to output items and overloading the hoppers and jamming the depot. This might be fixed by only allowing certain amounts of players to connect per depot, again addressable by game rules, or limiting the effective distance of a depot block. I have a few ideas on how that would work: transfer speed between the player and depot block would decrease with distance, which I personally would find distasteful and “unfun”, by causing a depot to stop working completely once out of range, which I feel could potentially happen automatically as the chunk is unloaded, or by prioritizing the nearest player to pull from. Possibly it could be a combination of these factors. Determining what works best here would be a task for the snapshots and experimental features

    I love protecting the games in their original versions to prevent accidental update to a different version that is permanent. The trail ruins doesn't interest me because you pick up blocks you are going to get eventually, but in small quantities. What was Minecraft thinking, right? HOWEVER, finding a little copper golem buddy is a brilliant idea, AND we need a way to permanently link up to his location unlike dogs, cats, birds, etc., chat can be accidently left behind forever. .

    The problem with the "ender depot" idea i see is, that the chunk the depot is placed in, needs to be loaded for the depot to work. So at this point you also need a chunkloader in addition to the depot, unless you want to constantly move the depot around. Which leads to another idea, give the player an easy way to keep a chunk loaded without that whole portal stuff. Especially for redstoners, this would be a big help.

    I love the idea of the "Ender Depot"
    May I suggest a small change to it though?
    I think the idea that it can only push items to the player up to a full stack is great. So, to help that part fit into the current game a little better, I suggest calling it an "Ender Pot" and have it be crafted the way you show but replace the ender chest with a large pot. The player that places the pot becomes synced to it, and it loses "allegiance" (maybe using the "owner" tag that's in game) when it's broken.

  • @BenCarnage
    @BenCarnage 4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    The ender depot would have to be chunk loaded to work, so either it has to be built in chunks you can load remotely or it has to itself be chunk loading, which causes some problems in the game. Likely it'd have to be chunk loaded by other means, because having a single block working as a chunk loader would allow for massive areas being loaded on some servers where creative mode or duping are possible.

    I really hope Mojang considers adding the thick fog to the Pale Garden. In my opinion, it is absolutely baffling that they put all this emphasis on the atmosphere of the Pale Garden biome, but you can walk through the entire average length of one in less than a minute. I've loaded up far too many Creative worlds to find Pale Gardens that barely take up 4 or 9 square chunks. How in the world are players supposed to get immersed by that?
    For players like me, I see absolutely zero point in trying to do anything in those biomes if that's the case. So if Mojang really aren't going to make them bigger on average, they could at LEAST add more fog when in the biome to obscure how tiny they are

    You should make a series of mods or parts of mods that should be officially implemented into Minecraft along with notes on what changes may be needed to fit into the core game. There is so much great mod content out there and it would be nice to have some of these in the game permanently so we wouldn't have to worry about them being incompatible with updates or losing them forever when the mod developer inevitably stops supporting them.

    The sand and gravel that have archeological items in them should take longer to break with a shovel; it should be like breaking obsidian. That way the player could explore those ruins in a more enjoyable way without having to worry about breaking and thus wasting the chance to get items that are non-renewable. Which brings me to my second point, with paper and charcoal the player should be able to create a sherd pattern and then with clay and the pattern be able to create an unlimited number of new sherds making them all renewable.

    Ender depots are nice, they seem to work similarly to the depots in Satisfactory but my only concern is how it will work in multiplayer. Not sure if your taking ideas for the list in the comments. But i had an idea in terms of making the pale garden more of a desirable place for the player go visit, as i feel its lacking in that aspect right now. It would be cool if there was some sort of structure with a chest that could only be opened at night. So it would make the player have to go to the pale garden at night, when the creakings are out, in order to get whatever loot is in the chest. Gives a reason for the player to traverse through it at its most dangerous time.

    I like the idea of fog in Pale Gardens, however I see most people suggesting a biome-specific effect that would act kinda like a low render distance. I don't like this that much.
    In my opinion, fog should be able to be used anywhere, as a great tool for ambience. This would be done with a fog that flows like water but does not restrict movement, it just looks cool and translucid. A player could carry fog in a bucket, put it, and control its flow anywhere, on any build that would be improved by it.
    This "fog fluid" could also give a low render distance-like effect because it's still a cool idea.
    If I go further into this idea, the fog effect that makes you see not very far could be a potion effect, and fog in a bucket could be used to make potions with the said effect. This effect would work on mob too, they also can't see far, which means they can't see the player unless it's one block in front of them. When powered up the potion would, for a player, reduce even more your vision, and for a mob, also unable them to interact with anything mob or block, not just the player, that's not right in front of them. That would be handy for sure.
