I think this is exactly how Minecraft should be played, not rushing to get the “best” gear, just enjoying the core aspects of the game, it really is a sandbox game

Ngl, the scare villager is awesome and makes so much sense for that world. I love it when stuff is made to make sense for the Minecraft world instead of being transplanted from ours.
I play similarly to this and love it. I make a house or structure in each biome, showcasing its blocks, their features, and a miniature ecosystem. I also create armour sets specific to each one so I can feel immersed while there. This provides me with checkpoints when exploring and, a sense of connectedness and mastery of the locations. It also saves the time of carting things from everywhere to my main base. I can leave some things for later in my storage for that biome, making finding things easier and more intuitive.
I love this. I feel like that kind of playstyle can have so many benefits. It probably also makes your world feel a lot more alive and as you said, immersive. Im also a big fan of having paths, roadways and bridges in a world and I bet having bases spread out like that would lead to a ton of those
This is really reassuring to see. I have a world that I've been playing in for a month now and I still don't even have full diamond, let alone an elytra. I know most TH-camrs progress far faster than the average player, but its nice to hear someone say that pre-elytra gameplay is still worth savoring.
Really loving the series idea Nut. Few things that I really enjoyed: the scare villager is somehow more unnerving than fresh animation villagers, the little giggles every time a tool broke during building, the house of course and it wouldn't be Nut content without a donut :P Great work man!

You mentioned that you really believe that limitation drives creativity. Which i whole heartedly agree with. I wonder if youve ever considered going back to prerelease minecraft such as alpha or more likely a version like Beta 1.7.3? There is a lot of limitation and interesting little quirks and tricks beta minecrafters use in builds that i think you would be interested in learning

I love your premise. I'm coming back for my annual binge of the game and I've found the only way I can keep invested is to set some rules like this. I'm trying with a "no terraforming" style. No strip mining and no major overhauls to the layout of the land. You can tailor existing terrain to meet your needs, but you don't get to add or remove them. Right now I'm building in a crater in a mountain, but my only entrances are through existing caves that I've slightly widened to make movement easier. All building must be built on the existing terrain and I'm not allowed to overly level out the ground. This keeps you adjusting to the world and promotes caving for resources and using what you can find without digging in straight lines for hours. I also like playing with limited farms added and not overly relying on villagers. No bamboo farm, no sugar cane farm, no iron farm (yet), etc. I'll probably make some generic XP farm somewhere because getting levels for enchanting is necessary and I'll probably make a small iron farm to refresh my tools regularly after natural supplies I can find start to dwindle. I'm torn on what's next. Do I ban villager trading outright, do I set it up where I can only trade what I collect by hand, or do I allow it fully, but don't automate my other farms to amass emeralds. Obviously there won't be any zombie conversion exploits to lower trade prices. With limited diamonds given the no strip mining, I think I'll need to trade for diamond equipment. I'm thinking I do a mix of no farms and no book trades. Everything I enchant has to be from the enchanting table and I can trade for equipment as much as I can afford. Honestly, I've come to hate the race to the end game and having everything automated. Automation is great for crazy scale builders, but recently I feel like I should just play creative if I want to be that type of builder. Unlock the full block palette and be done with it. Otherwise, I want to play a more realistic game. PS. I also like these guidelines for multiplayer. Each member can divide up the "tedious" tasks like farming for resources and them come together for the big projects. And if done right, you don't get an XP farm either. Your "warrior" types get to go fight mobs regularly to gather XP. Personally I love chopping down trees over and over and I love the grind of harvesting crops and replanting by hand. I'll gladly take on those roles.
Actually awesome and i love how you didnt forget to colour the leather armor. Also, amazing builds! I like how you commit to goofy ideas while ending up still producing awesome results.
So many builds nowadays utilize stone, and the fact that you had to use no stone really brought out the creative uses of wood, such as the chisled bookshelves for the flooring. Really loved the builds in this video!

I think you're someone who would really enjoy VintageStory. It's all about taking your time with progression, and slowly building out a homestead. For example, while the modern Minecraft meta has you build a base but never really use it, in Vintage Story, it's your shelter during winter, where you're cooking meals, as you can't simply game the system with food item, and can just do fun things like bake pies. It takes a lot of effort to forge metal tools, to domesticate animals, and find resources, but it leads to that progression feeling very satisfying. Again, I highly recommend. I'd be interested to see your thoughts on how it compares to your slower Minecraft playthrough.
Finally someone big on TH-cam is trying to play how i do, it will be interesting to see other people seeing this type of game play (when i find iron i make maps or decorations or other things beafore tools, tools i only use iron that i mine )
Good Video man, I love it when people express their creativity in a game where you can literally do anything, Minecraft isn't about doing challenges, exploring, pvp or even building, it's about what you want to do, what you choose to do. It doesn't matter how you play Minecraft or why, what matters is that you play it and have fun, that's what games are for.
This is a fantastic idea and it makes me kinda wish that Minecraft had a mode that locked everything behind a progression system that would force you to play through the game completely, just so you can slow down and enjoy the journey.
You might like Vintage Story. The progression is a lot more methodical - in Minecraft you can literally get an iron pick axe in minutes, while in Vintage Story, you need to find some loose metal nuggets, heat them up in a forge, then pour them into a casting mold, and that's just for a copper pick. Everything in the game takes more time, but it feels very satisfying. Having to forge a saw in order to make wooden planks, breed animals for several generations to domesticate them, and carefully plan, storing food for the winter - it all makes for a great experience. If you're looking for that kind of spark we all had playing Minecraft early on, Vintage Story definitely is a great option.
@@kwitchercryn1775 I've really been enjoying it. The game is often pigeon-holed by people as just "hard Minecraft" but it really has its own feel, and you can tweak the difficulty a lot. It has native mod support, literally dragging and dropping into the mod folder, built in shaders and awesome atmospheric effects, and gets awesome updates. In the next update, they're adding sailboats!
This video populated in my feed, and boy am I glad it did. This is quite the refreshing take on Minecraft! I look forward to your efforts to 100% all gameplay aspects and tiers of Minecraft prorgression!
looking at the intro, that's a strange way of playing minecraft. most people don't even get the elytra. but yeah, for the rest of the vid setting goals like this can be very rewarding in dopamine.
That is totally fair, I understand a majority of minecraft players never even make it to the end. I know personally I tend to rush the progression and that seems to be a pretty common playstyle for a lot of minecraft creators. But it probably would have been more accurate for me to say "the modern youtuber play through" instead of "the modern minecraft play through"
@@Nuttistwhile a majority of players don’t a lot of content creators do rush progression. This is a really unique idea and I’m really excited for part 2
I'm so glad this video randomly popped up. I'm in LOVE with how well this all flows, plus it's all super entertaining. I actually did something similar to the challenge in my new, permanent survival world I made about 5 months ago! I basically made barely any progression in terms of tools and stuck to iron for around 2 months to focus on building around my base and making a big wall to get rid of mobs (plus I JUST finished watching all of attack on titan for the first time so I was thinking of the walls and how cool Shiganshina looked from high up)
First video of yours I've seen and I really enjoyed it! You have a fun style with the cinematics and music, and your building style is really unique! I'm loving this series's concept and look forward to the next one! You could easily show more of your building time as well if you wanted the episodes to be longer since the construction was so different and interesting to watch what you showed! Thanks for an enjoyable video!
I am definitely subscribing, as somebody who genuinely loves this game I feel like I know a lot of the features because I've been playing for years but it's easy to forget about things that were some of my fave features as time goes on!
This is exactly how I like to play minecraft! I always limit myself to what stage I can get to in order to keep things fresh. Most of my time spent in my recent worlds have been with iron tools and way too much time mining. I treat my elytra as a marker for when I switch my build sizes to mega rather than huge & I love the challenge of building fast/fun ways to travel between my world.
I love this idea and this content so much. I feel like each new world I create there's so much pressure to get to elytra and start the big crazy builds/machines... that I get burnt out and quit after just a few weeks. We completely miss half of what the game has to offer a.k.a. what made us all fall in love with this game all those years ago. This video has inspired me to try this challenge myself! There's a lot to gather from the video but do you have a "guide" or list of what exactly your restrictions are at each stage? Would love to see your official rules. :)
this video went so fucking hard, loved the editing and i'm ESPECIALLY loving the focusing on really exploring every single facet of each type of progression
This is so impressive. It makes me wanna play and do stuff like this but unfortunately I cannot get as immersed in actual vanilla sandbox minecraft like I used to as a kid. Now everything has to have a goal to it and whilst I can do a similar thing to you, I don't think I can truely just pour hours upon hours into this when I have other games to get through and a job now. This is still uber impressive and I am really jealous that I do not have this level of time and dedication. Props man!
I've been playing minecraft in a similar way since like a week ago. The base game is just a tad bit overwhelming with how much there is to do so usually I'd just rush to the end of the game and then try to play, but by that point the game has become too easy and there's not much reason to continue playing so I usually quit until I get the urge to play again and repeat the entire process. So this time around I set a world border of 1000 blocks. I will expand it every 100 days or so, this limits how much I can progress and makes me use features I would usually overlook. It's really changed the way I look at minecraft as a whole. It has also given me a reason to work on skills I normally wouldn't, like my buildings skills and my ability to stay calm when the 7th zombie villager in a row gets blown up by a creeper. It's by far my favorite way to play the game. I've also been recording the entire time so I can look back at some point and see how much progress I've made.
This is actually so refreshing! I feel like this challenge is going to really reawaken what made minecraft so fun again :). All the meta "do the best get the best" stuff really sucks the fun and creativity of the game out. I really appreciate what you're doing and WILL be following what you do next (I also appreciate the lack of "youtuber voice" as I call it, this was my first video of yours and am SO happy i don't have to sit through someone being WAYY too excited about everything)
Oh my god I love this video editing style and I love the twist on the worn out play through meta we've seen for a while. A slow and enjoyable pace is exactly what we need
It had been more a year since I took a break from Minecraft but this video came as a blessing to motivate me to start playing Minecraft again. Thanks Nuts. Please continue this series ❤️
I've started a new modded world just to try this and it's so... cozy. Took about 40 in-game days just to build a house and farm before upgrading from wooden tools, instead of going straight to iron and getting bored. Btw, you deserve way more recogniton!
This pretty crazy, I’d never put myself through that torture, but I guess that’s also why this idea seems so original. But if you want to limit your progression, the bed imo was a leap in progression but oh well. Nice interesting series, and you’re a really good builder
A lot of the more experienced minecraft players do seem to forget that the early game can really be a lot more fun when you take your time. The upgrades can be satisfying for sure, but its such a short term satisfaction compared to the satisfaction of the experience of the experience of living in the world you're creating. That said when it comes to the elytra you can still keep that mindset alive after you get one. For example, I've changed they way I use it recently. I no longer wear it all the time and went back to wearing a chestplate. I've taken to using horses and boats for short range travel and it really is much more enjoyable in the long run exploring the terrain and being immersed in the world itself rather than passing over it in the sky. The extra effort also makes arriving at the destination much more satisfying. Of course I'll still use the elytra for long distance, but I feel limiting its use makes USING the elytra much more special overall. Great video! I can't wait to see the next episode! I think I'm most excited to see how your base will evolve as the ages progress.
At least for me, this is the best challenge I've seen so far, i love the idea of having limitations but also being able to explore the WHOLE game as you progress
I can confirm that taking it slow and enjoying the little things about the game is a lot more enjoyable than grinding to get the best gear and build the best farms as soon as possible. It actually forces you to engage with the sandbox aspect of Minecraft in a way that you otherwise might not. I would recommend this kind of slower paced, more creatively focused gameplay to anyone who’s feeling burnt out on the game, it’s so refreshing.
0:29 wut???? Ancient cities are NOT post ender dragon tier. You can honestly loot them just with iron tier gear. If you know what you’re doing, you’ll never even SEE the warden.
Oh my gods, this is how minecraft should be played!!! I personally love playing a modpack called "sevtech ages" and "terrafirmacraft" because of how slow the progress is in those!! Instantly subbed!
First time coming across your content, and I really love your editing style. It flows really smoothly and is engaging even though these are parts of minecraft I've seen probably a thousand times. Will definitely come back :)
As an art history minor hearing frank lloyd wright mentioned in a Minecraft survival video jumpscared me but its super refreshing to see real historical inspirations mentioned!
You just gained a new subscriber, this was fun, entertaining, and kept my attention the entire episode! Also, did you know you can add up to 3 black or white dye to darken or lighten the base color of your armor? You can also add other colors to make in-between shades like blue-violet and yellow-geeen!
Loved this! Clean, fun and memorable. The challenge is on point; my last play through took years and I intentionally slowed the progression waaaaay down as well. When I finally got to the elytra, it felt well-earned and the journey in the end was incredible! Also, you kinda sound like Mark Rober 😅
This is truly interesting and tons of fun to watch, not gonna lie. I'll admit that I usually try to speed up a little to get stone and sometimes glass, but yeah, this truly is one of the more glorious stages of the game. That said, it absolutely sucks not being able to sleep in the early game - the number of times I've been without sheep early on, sometimes it feels like my progression to iron is being forced. I would much rather progress on my own terms, rather than out of necessity. Can't wait to see where this series goes!
An improvement I like in Vintage Story is that you can make a primitive bed out of grass to sleep on, you sleep less of the night, but you can get by with it. There's also added things like making pottery you can do to pass time while inside.
I've never before seen a minecraft idea that made me IMMEDIATELY want to try it out, you are such a wonderful and creative builder, you made this seem so fun.
Great vid! I think you should make sort of a staircase made of different materials for pickaxes of different materials to symbolize the climb through the different eras.
this is a great series idea, i too think people progress way too quickly these days and i wish people could see the simplicity of minecraft again. it’s great to see someone prove that you CAN make great things in the game with some things that people don’t use as much or are considered ‘the worst tools in the game’. i might try this on my 8 month long world, im subscribing for the next episodes
As someone who has always struggled to 'rush' through the game, I love this idea! Minecraft is such a great game for just relaxing and enjoying the cubed ambience
This is what Minecraft was meant to be all about; no Speedrunning the Game using the best METAs possible, no mods to add Fun Complexity or to change things up, not even a challenge meant to absurdly limit or suppress the Player in a difficult way; Just experiencing Minecraft, to its fullest and for all it has to offer, while still adding a limit that keeps the Game fresh. This is what Minecraft SHOULD be about. Thank you for such a great start to a great series 😊 That's a Sub from me 👍
I love you, not in a wired way lol. Being part of the pvp community i have always been used to sweaty gameplay, so this video truly helped me understand the true beauty of minecraft. Thanks again!
The idea of the video is great! BUT THE EDITING??? Oh my god! Everything is perfect! I'd love to see the editing process! The dolly zoom angle on the cow was perfect.
I'm so excited to see what the stone age brings!! Also, the base looks awesome!!! The multiple woods work so well in the ways they were used, you're an amazing builder!! RIP the sheep, but the shprinkles were worth it! >:D

@WasatchWind I'm going to look that up! It definitely sounds like the type of game I can get into, thanks!
In the next update, they're adding sailboats!
cant wait to see where the series goes. Keep up the good work.
Now this is how Minecraft should be played! You've got me subscribing!
Thanks for an enjoyable video!
nice series! btw maybe you could upgrade a village since villagers' comfort often get ignored?
no, the villagers dont deserve it
totally agree! Ive been wanting to do a project like that for a while and this might be the perfect world for it
@@Gyrus7 damn
I am definitely subscribing, as somebody who genuinely loves this game I feel like I know a lot of the features because I've been playing for years but it's easy to forget about things that were some of my fave features as time goes on!
I love how submersive you made the camerawork.
Well done!
“I used wooden tools for 100 days in Minecraft”
I am actually gonna propose this idea to my friend and do it together, this looks so fun
Mark my words this series is going to be your turning point in TH-cam journey ❤🎉
THAT IS THE BEST STARTER BASE I'VE EVER SEEN WTF HOW ARE YOU SO CREATIVE!!!
this video went so fucking hard, loved the editing and i'm ESPECIALLY loving the focusing on really exploring every single facet of each type of progression
Proud of u buddy, the edditing, atmosphere and reimagining of minecraft are all perfect. Keep doin you and ready for ep 2.
Props man!
the house is beautiful and definitely evokes frank lloyd wright even down to the block palette !!
This is one of the best play through videos I have ever seen. Editing, commentary, everything
This is some amazing content, haven't seen anything so creative in a while, and your editing is top notch. Can't wait for the next part of the series!
Cant wait for the next episode man youve inspired me and a buddy to make a world based in the concept but with mods
This was a very enjoyable video. There was good humor (5:57), good looking buildings (11:30) and an overall good presentation.
At least for me, this is the best challenge I've seen so far, i love the idea of having limitations but also being able to explore the WHOLE game as you progress
LOVEE the music choice!! really makes everything more immersive with the wild-west kind of feel
It’s so refreshing seeing a Minecraft TH-camr using vocabulary above a 6 year old’s. I love this series!
most people’s first videos are getting full diamond and an elytra, but THIS is something i really would like to see more
0:29 wut???? Ancient cities are NOT post ender dragon tier. You can honestly loot them just with iron tier gear. If you know what you’re doing, you’ll never even SEE the warden.
Oh my gods, this is how minecraft should be played!!!
I personally love playing a modpack called "sevtech ages" and "terrafirmacraft" because of how slow the progress is in those!!
Instantly subbed!
First time coming across your content, and I really love your editing style. It flows really smoothly and is engaging even though these are parts of minecraft I've seen probably a thousand times. Will definitely come back :)
10/10. Unique video idea. Entertainment requires sufering. Unique thinking to solve simple problems.
I just need to say that i love the builds, they are so unique and creative and have such charm that i don't tend to see in modern builds
As an art history minor hearing frank lloyd wright mentioned in a Minecraft survival video jumpscared me but its super refreshing to see real historical inspirations mentioned!
I’m waiting for the next episode. I’m enjoying this challenge
This is been the video ive been searching for since 2021
You just gained a new subscriber, this was fun, entertaining, and kept my attention the entire episode! Also, did you know you can add up to 3 black or white dye to darken or lighten the base color of your armor? You can also add other colors to make in-between shades like blue-violet and yellow-geeen!
this is such a beautiful idea for a series im so excited for where this will go
Loved this! Clean, fun and memorable. The challenge is on point; my last play through took years and I intentionally slowed the progression waaaaay down as well. When I finally got to the elytra, it felt well-earned and the journey in the end was incredible! Also, you kinda sound like Mark Rober 😅
Finally, an idea to make minecraft fun again! Thanks for the idea
12:35 If people are watching in the future, this bit will carbon-DATE this video.
this is the best and most unepxected physics meme i've seen in a while
This is truly interesting and tons of fun to watch, not gonna lie.
The donut animal barn was the most creative thing I have seen recently.
Man this is the most unique and underrated Minecraft video/series I’ve ever seen
I've never before seen a minecraft idea that made me IMMEDIATELY want to try it out, you are such a wonderful and creative builder, you made this seem so fun.
The editing on this video is nuts. Very well done!
5:58 Got me LAUGHING😂😁😆
As someone who has always struggled to 'rush' through the game, I love this idea! Minecraft is such a great game for just relaxing and enjoying the cubed ambience
The amount of effort you put into this video is crazy man
11:54 the TH-camr “starting house”
This is what Minecraft was meant to be all about; no Speedrunning the Game using the best METAs possible, no mods to add Fun Complexity or to change things up, not even a challenge meant to absurdly limit or suppress the Player in a difficult way; Just experiencing Minecraft, to its fullest and for all it has to offer, while still adding a limit that keeps the Game fresh. This is what Minecraft SHOULD be about. Thank you for such a great start to a great series 😊
That's a Sub from me 👍
I love you, not in a wired way lol. Being part of the pvp community i have always been used to sweaty gameplay, so this video truly helped me understand the true beauty of minecraft. Thanks again!
I LOVE your house. Such a cool architectural inspiration source as well. Keep up the awesome work!
The idea of the video is great! BUT THE EDITING??? Oh my god! Everything is perfect! I'd love to see the editing process! The dolly zoom angle on the cow was perfect.
your editing is god-tier bro. don't stop.
this reminds me so much of old minecraft like your house just gave me such nostalgia for some reason i’m going to be waiting on these videos !!
I'm so excited to see what the stone age brings!! Also, the base looks awesome!!! The multiple woods work so well in the ways they were used, you're an amazing builder!! RIP the sheep, but the shprinkles were worth it! >:D
the editing on this video is actually insanely good
Thrilled for the next video , your editing is so cool! Keep up uploading!
This is gonna be huge. Love it my dude!
