I can definitely dig that! Lol. So do you not shoot because you don’t like editing? Or you shoot video and just don’t enjoy the post process when you do?
I'm someone who wants to get more into photography (and video too). Over the last 3 years I have found myself taking more pics with my cellphone and putting them into editing apps to try to get it just right. I have also dabbled into editing a few videos. I can finally say that I enjoy the process and want to take it to the next level.I am eyeing either the canon r50 or r10 as my first big boy camera. Are those good options?
For sure! The phones these days have pretty powerful cameras. Both of those options are great starter cams. If that r10 is in budget I would definitely go with that.
I have a canon EOS R6 I want to use it for video. How would you recommend using it meaning purchasing a video monitor or the camera it selected without anything else
You can use it without but having the monitor will save you in a few ways depending on the monitor that you get. First they allow you to oversee what your shooting on a bigger screen instead of the little 3in on the cam. They have built in monitoring systems that help you with exposure, focus etc. and you can load LUTS directly into them (depending on what you get) so you can see your footage closer to its final form and adjust accordingly. So not mandatory to get started but has a ton of benefits to have one.
Great info. So I have a question. I’m looking to jump into the industry, and I’d love to do both photo & video at some point. Do you think it’s better to learn photography first, then videography? I’m also looking into copping the Sony a7IV to start my journey. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks.
They are both basically the same thing so I would say both. I would set up photoshoots and grab some video while there. The majority of the differences are going to be in post production. For cameras take a look at the a7siii . It’s a better hybrid camera than the a7iv.
All four of my Sony cameras shoot video. I'm not afraid of shooting video but I hate editing video!

I’m all for it!! Just going thru the learning curve of editing videos… for me Final Cut Pro X
Glad to hear it!! It’s a process for sure but once you get around that initial curve it’s up from there!

@@taypricephotography thanks, would be able to recommend a monitor for someone getting getting started with a canon camera
The Atomos Shinobi is a pretty decent monitor and a decent price point.
