This turned out really awesome. We are definitely giving this a try. We make large (3x4 feet minimum) custom art out of wine corks and other things and, if anyone is going to try this themselves, here are a few suggestions. (1) Try not to use melamine or any other "slick" surface to use as the backing, especially if you are using white glue. That combo is a disaster waiting to happen as the white glue will not adhere well to a slick surface as it dries too brittle and can't "grab" well enough to a smooth surface. One day you'll be moving your art around and half (or more) of those dice will just fall out in large chunks. (2) Use cheap old plywood for the surface you're gluing onto and put the "good" side of the plywood to the back (toward the wall). The glue will adhere great to the rough surface. Yes, it's a little harder to draw your art onto, but it will make for art that lasts a lifetime. (3) BEFORE you make your frame, lay out your dice (or whatever objects you're using) on a table to be about the same dimensions as you are expecting your art to be. Then measure that line of dice, THEN cut your backing board per that measurement, allowing 1 1/2" extra for the frame (if you are making the frame out of 1x2's). That way you will get a nice tight fit up against the frame around the edge of the dice. For example : You want your art to be 45 dice across, lay out 45 dice, measure them, add 1 1/2" (3/4" x 2 frame pieces) then cut your backing board that wide. Same principle for the height. (4) Finish the frame before you start gluing while it's still easy to do without getting stain or paint on your art. (5) Try not to use white glue at all if you are gluing dice or other slick objects - even to a rough surface. We use heavy duty construction caulk in a caulk gun and it's fast and easy and those corks (or dice) are NEVER coming off once the caulk is dry. It takes a little while to get used to using a caulk gun without making a mess, but you'll get the hang of it in no time!
marko i saw the video with faze rug and wanted you to know your not falling off incase you are worried about that. whenever i see you have uploaded i instantly click because i know how entertaining and comedic your videos are, you have an amazing humor and personality and are constantly producing amazing content, keep it up :)
Hey! I had not heard of you until today. Ive been watching your videos for several hours, and they are absolutely insane. I couldnt stop. You are a generational talent. No hyperbole. Its mind-blowing and a joy to watch. Also, the filming and editing are ridiculously good. Thanks for the content and for all you do!
Probably my favorite artwork you ever done MARKO!! It came out dope asf , 10/10 , fire 🔥, I’m kinda jealous it isn’t me. Maybe you can do me in dice portrait mode next time. That would be sick 🔥🔥🔥
You tried to blur it before the big reveal but ironically, bluring it made it easier to see due to its nature lol. Looks cool though. I did a simular thing with a photo of my face. But only used black and white. I made It 100 by 100 and the cubes i used were Minecraft blocks 😊
Damn i want to call him big bro, i got a wave of nostalgia as I found him again on youtube, I feel like I connectew with the 14 ish year old me. Like I used to be so creagive back then and he just fuels that itch in the back of my mind to start creatunh stuff. Thanks Marko
Just an FYI, it's 1 die, 2 or more dice. This was incredible, though, and I commend your patience and dedication, and I hope you didn't ruin your eyesight staring at those pips (the dots on the dice) for so long! Another interesting fact - the numbers on opposite sides of dice add up to the number of sides+1. So opposite sides of six-sided dice add up to 7.
I am an artist. I've always known that patience is my weak link. Watching your video actually made me depressed because I know I wouldn't be able to ever do a project this tedious. Nice work dude.
Great idea. If you ever do it again, smooth the glue out so your final surface isn't affected by the wave of glue smooshed under the dice. This will help insure the dice stay in place better too.
Awesome job! Tip: If you would have used the pixel filter on photoshop and replaced the pixels with the dices you would have gotten better results, but great job nevertheless
Bro you are the most talented artist on the planet! Your videos are my favorite to watch and literally every one of them are amazing and inspirational! Keep it up much love bro 💯🔥
