Luke Gartner my Current Store was built in early 2018, it’s light years ahead of this store, but nonetheless it can get dirty very quick as with every deli, as for the stores I’ve worked at every sliver has to be cleaned with 4 hours, they should get that dirty, but each store is different my store is a pretty decent location, all the big bosses are always visiting, so everything has to be “perfect”

Although I don't work there anymore, we were required to clean up every hour or so but what really sucked is when you're a small store in a high population area you don't have the time sometimes. We would have lines down the aisles and we cant exactly take 5 minutes to sweep up or wipe down. This drove me nuts cause I hate having things dirty which is why I made the video in the first place (because I was sick and tired of having to clean up after everyone else). And to the possible reply of it only takes a few seconds to do a quick wipe or sweep, the general populous we had to deal with is a very wealthy town and they couldn't be bothered to wait any extra time as their own time was more valuable than gold.
We didn't have to fully clean them after each use, but more just wipe them down so they didn't look as bad to the customers for understandable reasons.

working in a deli is horrible especially in new york or jersey. its crazy busy customers are rude, they have no patience. they get in a huge line and then get mad after waiting for 5 minutes. they want it paper thin and will stare into your soul while you cut their meat

TBH It's not that bad but the smell will be stuck in all your clothes so make sure you get dedicated clothing for just wearing to work. I would help out with stock at nights when it was a slow night and that wasn't bad either. All comes down to (in my experience) if you want to be in a fast pace and helping picky customers, or just filling shelves and making them neat and showing people around a store when they don't know where something is.

Np. I applied for stock position but they threw me into the deli as a "surprise" so that's what I ended up doing. It's probably due to how busy you are and how much you have to do at once and the picky customers that people tend to not like it.
About 3 1/2 years ago the whole store went through a remodel so everything looks a lot better now. (Even though I left right as the remodel for the deli went through)
Yea that's pretty accurate. The one I worked at (Safeway) was always clean and I could blast my music because I closed. Then I moved up in the world (nit really) and became a Checker/psuedo-manager before leaving. Honestly the experience was rewarding in a way but I wouldn't do it again.
simple solution to a dirty, smelly deli, put the phone down and clean the deli up. got time to lean, then you got time to clean. i worked a supermarket deli for 2 yrs as a 2nd job. not a bad job at all. clean as you go. no excuse for a dirty deli.
Isaac Bz just remember to stay relaxed and don't rush yourself cause you'll screw up the order. If all you're doing is the counter (serving people their meat) you'll have it extremely easy cause most scales are easy to work. I've worked at a deli for 2 days and can already run the counter (might just be our scales being so easy). and familiarize yourself with all the different meats and their codes and you'll have a waaaaay easier time. pay attention to your superiors and ask a lot of questions. no question is a dumb question.

I clean after every customer, you should use the sanitizer to wipe down after every food you put on the slicer.
It wouldn’t smell if you cleaned the slicers or sinks.
