I worked in a neighborhood market deli/bakery for 12 years. When I started there we had plenty of staff but by the time I quit I was working by myself almost every day. Also no one else in the store was trained to work in the deli so I literally could'nt take breaks or lunches without it causing a major problem. Eventually I started having panic attacks and I feel like the stress of it all did some major damage to my heart.
it doesn't help that you get a customer who gets pissy because they were waiting forever on the phone for their last minute bakery order. but can't get to the phone because you're busy slicing them 5lbs of shaved ham.

I work at deli and it’s alright, the only problem I have is that we are low staffed and the heavy lifting and pushing things like the fryer filter. That thing is heavy. We only have one guy so it can be difficult with the heavy lifting. I like bakery more than deli.
Yeah I see that I just became a deli bakery lead and there’s no men and there chicken boxes are like 60 pounds so I always unloaded them for them when I was in meats

Maybe at superwalmarts. I work at a neighborhood Walmart and generally people have to get trained in all three unfortunately. If you really don't want to do freezer you can probably negotiate when you are first hired. Just make sure you are very vocal from the beginning if its a deal breaker.
Yes, It depends if it’s a big store. The one I work at, everyone either works in deli or in bakery, but because there’s no bakery closer; then us in deli have to take bakery orders and write on cakes. Unless someone in the morning needs their lunch break covered, then someone in bakery will go to deli to cover them for their lunch break, but that’s only when they’re low staffed. I guess every store is different since different management

Or a cap hat at least on my store I was told & only while your handling food.
In my store, if you walk into the deli or bakery you must have your hair covered either with a cap or hair net.
