Another great collection of fine lorries/Wagons thanks Christopher.I think a big shout out to all the long gone and retired older drivers for the graft ,stress, the cold nights in” cab hotel” rope and sheeting in all weathers ,chasing return loads, Driving with no power steering , no heaters, very poor pay ,not seeing your families and just like my dad you did your work without missing a beat …
How true, the driver’s today would never cope with the vehicles we had then and all the roping and sheeting that had to be done,I never saw one female driver in those days 60s,tough old days and not much pay for the work involved and the weather conditions we had to endure.
Good old flatbed work, We did it because there was no choice, no tait liner, no box , You learned on the move, ears, and eyes open, and kept your mouth shut. Thanks, mate, informative as always.
Been watching your videos for cpl years now, love what you do, i grew up in 80's 90's trunking all over uk in my dads lorries, best years of my life. Always hoping and waiting to see one of his wagons on here, you been very close!! He always kept his very smart...Fodens & Volvos...Inverness...North Scotland.
I keep watching your videos searching for Range Transport trucks..... found one so far. Pretty big London firm back in the day -20ish tractor units and about the same hiab 4 wheelers, amazing how they all just disappear with barely a trace. Happy days though, thank you.
Oh wow looked at this because saw wagon with. E park on it. Me and my dad and two brothers drove for them l still drive trucks now but only me left now they have passed. Nice to see some old names and some good truck. Erf truck were a lot around not many now the older trucks kept going. Truck now are always breaking down nice video
Liked looking at my loads all sheeted up rope up too made me proud driveing around But sorry. Like the box’s now getting too old for all the ropeing sheeting
My dad and me started off with an AEC Mamoth major then Leyland 501 a 502 we tried a Bedford TM but it was rubbish kept blowing engines then a Leyland constructor 24 21 lastly a Foden with a baby Cummins engine again rubbish I gave up trucking as I had been a slave to a company ( IBSTOCK BRICK) for to long
My dad drove a flatbed Leyland Comet like at the start of the clip, there was a beauty to a sheeted and roped load, that you just dont get with curtainsiders and the like, i passed the cat c two years ago and c + e a week ago all those years in the other seat, wether i use it or not a lifetime ambition fulfilled a driver just like dad.
about a year ago a driver came to pick up a plastics moulding machine ,lifted on the wagon drivers say cant take it no straps, he could not rope or tie dollies, i did it for him my driving was only 7.5 tonner but i had to learn to rope and sheet

Had all of those, but can still handball, and rope & sheet , and do a double dolly, , but if the modern stuff is there and paid for, and available….you would be a fool not to utilise it…work smart, not hard
I started with Ropes and Sheets on Flats and Veg Cages, its nice things have modernised but the attitude of Drivers has changed and not for the better in my opinion, if you try to show some a bit of a better way they go into One as if they know better already, I was taught you can listen in politeness then it up to you what you do because One day you might be stuck and need help,
@@clintdavies491 not at all just saying half the drivers nowadays wouldn’t have a clue if you gave them a flat trailer with an awkward load cos they don’t have to do it we used to sheet all sorts of loads from steel lead pallets of pop to wool sheets it’s just a dying art ohh and I did used to carry chips now and again but they were callled potatoes at the time
It was hard work especially in winter frozen ropes like steel but i would go back to them days tomorrow work with some characters over the years especially at suttons st helens miss them days
Keep on trucking
I still rope and sheet..Dollies in a line ..No sheets flapping....Not many of us ""Old Skool"" left........
I was looking to see if anyone mentioned Dolly knots, my Dad used to make it look so easy and it really wasn't.
@@James47298 No it was easy.

Roping and sheeting was and still is an Art .A lot of my old mates did their training with Hills Transport in Cardiff......the school of hard knocks.

As an ex trampper I don't think anything looks better than a well sheeted and roped load it shows pride in your job
Yes you Carnt beat roping and sheeeting in the rain 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Love it. Entress transport? one of my mates at BRS in Ross drove for Entress before he came to Ross. Sadly passed on now, but a good friend.
Roping and sheeting on a wet windy day, it was better than going to Butlins funfair.
Love these old trucks some beauties as well 🎉🎉
It was no joke trying to rope and sheet a forty-footer in the wind and rain!

grrrrrrrrr nothing nice about roping n sheeting in winter grrrrrrrrr
Makes you laugh all these lorries traveled all over the place with no problems..nowdays all be pulled by DVSA and handed on the spot fines..
All got out of control you wouldn't be able to get on the back to sheet it now
Not many of these old haulage companies left now, they’ve either gone bankrupt or been bought out by the bigger companies.
I am looking for a 1960s Leyland to restore to transport a vintage carnival ride
There was nothing but hard work 😞😞....you did it or you fu---ed off!😊
Nice photo,s but can you stop the crap music and give us some commentary
or tie a Dolly knot
Lorries not trucks
From the days before British industry was destroyed & sold off !
