This young dude looks like he could still be in high school but he has got me (aged 61) making notes about these records like I'm some young pup. It's a bit embarrassing but I am fucking here for it, my young brother.

Hi 👋 Aiden Good to see and hear you again young man. I'm like you although I'm 40 years older, but i still like to increase the volume when playing music. Especially Jazz. I like to have a little dance around . I remember 1968, i liked pop music then , American Bubblegum pop was the sound that year. Yes those records that you played had that late sixties vibe. You are educating me on what's cool. I haven't heard many of the musicians that you have mentioned. I will be looking out for these artists. Thanks.

Thanks for the sonic tour, Aidan. It is heartening to see a young person like you who is in to some really cool music. I have the McLaughlin "My Goal's Beyond", which is just gorgeous, and I'm a big fan of ECM, so of course, those ECM albums, and Tibbett's "Yr", which was later re-issued on the ECM label. Although I've heard, and heard of, many of the other musicians you play and show, I am not familiar with the albums. So, thanks for the enlightenment. I'll be keeping an eye out for those. Keep up the good work; enjoyable this early Friday morning.

Hey man, just dropping buy to say I just discovered your channel and I really love it. It's great to learn about Jazz from someone who isn't a pretentious audiophile boomer more fixated with nuanced pressing details than the music itself.
    Keep it up!

You just turned me onto some great music, Larry Coryell being my favorite by far. I couldn't be more thrilled because his discography is massive. Thanks man. Great video, really good job.

Really enjoyed this video Aidan, thanks for the upload. Will be checking out all of these, can’t wait to get into them. Really love the new setup too, looks like a great listening corner. Loved the shots with the tea and topview of turntable, nice touches. ✌️

Some great albums on this list, starting with the beautiful album by John McLaughlin "My Goal's Beyond" (I should say
I am a massive Mahavishnu Orchestra fan). Now 70 I either bought or played many of these at the time, so it is welcoming
to see you include John Abercrombie, my own favourite of his being the highly underrated Timeless (ECM 1975). In
terms of personal enjoyment I also preferred Keith Jarret’s Arbour Zena (ECM 1976) to his most popular
album The Koln Concert. Great to see people still buying and enjoying such terrific music.

Love the newly upgraded production values -- camera angles, multiple music selections, tea... And thanks for tipping me to the Steve Tibbetts record! I'd heard his name but never listened to him before.
Also, I wanted to ask about your set-up. I see you have a nice AT turntable (as a child of the '70s, I'm a sucker for woodgrain), but what are the (self-powered?) speakers and what phono preamp and cartridge are you using? I sometimes swap cartridges for used records because some styluses (stylii?) are better at handling surface noise than others. (I got an ultrasonic cleaner for my records, which can make huge improvements in sound, unless the vinyl is really trashed.)

    • @bucks_records
      @bucks_records  ปีที่แล้ว

They’re Edifier Desktop speakers I forget the model. The records are under the turntable and stuff in cubes. I’m using the stock cartridge and a replacement stylus. Thanks!

Hi Aiden, I recently discovered your channel, and I must say I'm delighted that a youngster like you has such a deep affiliation for Jazz including deep cuts / unknown artists and musicianship appreciation ; excellent stuff. I have a few suggestions for you, in case you haven't heard them, check out Sahib Shihab 'Companionship' and John Surman 'The amazing adventures of Simon Simon'....

  • @calvinwazoo

The Steve Tibbitts release sounded very cool. And my favorite instruments include saxophone (I was a player), so the Elvin Jones record is right in my wheelhouse. I know about Topshelf Records because of my toe collection. The label did a great job of bringing so many East Asian artists to the North American market for decent prices. Have you listened to toe, or Mouse on the Keys? Mouse on the Keys has a bit more of a jazz flavor to their music, but both are rooted in math rock. Thanks for sharing these records :)

I'm not typically a fan of The Mahivishnu Orchestra besides a few songs, but from what I heard of the McLaughlin record I really enjoyed. The perfect mix of spiritual and fusion jazz. Reminds of some stuff by the group The Awakening. Thanks for the recommendation- Logan

Howdy! This is my first time seeing you and I really dig the stuff you're playing here. Did you ever hear Devotion by John McLaughlin? It's a lot different than the one you played. It has Larry Young and Buddy Miles on it. I kind of feel that it was his tribute to Jimi Hendrix
