I really appreciate this type of level design where you're advancing through unique set pieces in rapid succession, like they did in the original Strider and Contra III: The Alien Wars. I hope they keep designing levels like this.
S.C.A.T./Action in New York is next in line for this kinda remake, apparently. Looks like Tengo Project (well, old Natsume employees) want to remake as many old Natsume games as it gets, hahah. (I really liked this one too back in the day!)
@@robbyrobot3303 I would feel not, given how fond they are of arcade design in action platformers. To me Power hand always played more like a console style action platformer.

Guess i'm not the only one who loves this game so much back in the day. Awesome remake and loves every little details; both the nostalgic & the new added one! Gives me couple goosebumps when seeing the new additional aspects that well befitted into the old ones. Kinda disappointed though to see the General Garuda's Boss Fight that's toned down pretty much. But overall, loves this reborn game! Shadow of Ninja's forever!
It's interesting to note that, from the few (interesting) runs that are starting to come up, we can see that the strategy for optimising the timer revolves around both the movement options and the appropriate weaponry (some of which should do a lot of damage on mid-bosses and bosses). I'm quite curious to see how the choice of weaponry will influence the optimisation of the timer, as it's almost certain that bosses can be killed very quickly with the right settings. In short, I can't wait to play it.
I think the only difference between Hayate and Kaede I noticed replaying the demo is that Hayate jumps higher or farther than Kaede and Kaede runs faster on the ground. This honestly made Hayate the better choice at least in level 1 but I still picked Kaede more for obvious reasons. It is mostly negible but I think the difference can be felt if you switch between the two.
I was wondering if there was a difference. Also: Call me a prude and/or a killjoy if you want, but put on a REAL battle suit and save the damn gym shorts for the photo shoots and/or unlockable content.
@Lord_Muggs I think it's a nod to how her sprite in the Nes game seemed to have bare legs. Though compared to other video game ninja girls, she's conservative
Oh damn they remade this game! Definitely gonna get it for the switch. Though I hope they have an option to change the music to their 32-bit versions, those OSTs were just top-notch even for their day
Love how the developer remake stage 4 in OG NES version (Air Base & Factory) into 2 separated stages with hawk guy become boss for Air Base and newly add Boss (oni-woman), who have telekinetic power, as Boss for Factory
This is a weirdly minor thing the get caught up on, but I really like the character design here in that she is built thick and strong, she actually looks like a warrior, not a sprinter.
now this is pleasing to look at. other indie game should take note to make pixelated not too jarring to look at. and the game is smooth af. I might buy it
@Shotsoma You have to press the jump button when you make contact with the wall and then press up to wall run, but it seems like you need to do it at the absolute apex of your jump. I've only done it once and I wish I knew how, lol.
0:10 I'm curious who is middle boss in intro? - Left, that samurai who can seperate his body like buggy in one piece, i guess - Right, boss who carry eagle as partner and can combine or fusion to (eagle man) if we reduce half of his HP. And of course behind them is the final boss, but who in the middle anyway?

The controls let me down in one aspect, the wall climb. It's annoying as I've looked at the manual and practiced in a safe area over and over but other than a fluke I can't do it by command. How do you do it reliably? because when I climb up the character jumps off almost every time when I just want them to stay on the wall to vault over/off the top.
The sword? Yeah, it has infinite uses. It doesn't give any bonus points at the end of the stage though, and I try to hold on to the most valuable items.
The creators of this video game should release it for Android mobiles, since there are people who do not have PC consoles, PS4 or PS5 or Nintendo Switch or Xbox, and I only have an Android phone.😿
You have to let it sit at the title screen for a minute. I didn't realize there was a full intro until after I played through the game a few times lol.
Play the OG Shadow of the Ninja on the NES, it's one of the best games on the system, and as far as I remember, it's not rage inducing. I think it was intended to be a Ninja Gaiden inspired game really.
This is how you modernize an NES classic. The gameplay, visuals, music, and character designs all look amazing! There is just one big flaw with this remake... It's bullsh*t difficult. Even the OG NES game was easier than this. There is also a lack of QoL features too such as saving between levels or offering an Easy Mode. Pocky & Rocky Reshrined was absurdly difficult but you can unlock an Easy Mode that allows you to experience the story mode without the intense pressure the game puts on you. I can't even get past the first stage and as someone who grew up with platformers and played my share of difficult ones I know I don't suck at them. Finally Kaede, her new look in this remake? Chun-Li would be proud of those thighs.
It's really not that hard, is just how NES games used to be, you learn how the enemies appear through the level and you anticipate to kill them the safest way, pretty sure even the first time you played Shadow of the Ninja in NES you got killed in the first level, but with the experience of playing it a lot you learned the patterns what were the best weaposn and where use it, this game have that spirit, you have to play it a lot to get used to the controls an learn how to avoid most of the damage.
This game is nearly impossible on normal mode. Cant imagine what the hard mode is like . Idk how you didn't die once here. Stage 4 and on is a nightmare. This whole game could be an AVGN episode.
Game does look beautiful, but the excess of items ruins the difficulty, this considering the level design and enemy placements are very similar to the first game, if you really enjoyed the original game you'd know what I mean, not to mention the skill x reward in the original had a lot to do with avoiding being hit as not to lose the attack range from your weapon, which you also had to strategically choose between the sword and sickle which was specially crucial during a 2 player game, all this is gone in favor of having both weapons at the same time to spam with them. Like also there was no need to change the giant tank boss battle patterns at stage 2 that much, I mean go back and take a look at the same boss battle in the NES game, the need to follow the patterns to beat it turned it into an adrenaline pumped fight, now in this new game you just stand there spamming to beat the boss and that's kinda boring, or more like really. I still bought it cause nostalgia tho, but if you want an actual challenge the original game is the one to go for.
Jumping trying to keep plenty of health items having good weapons but treated like ammo dying having to start back at the opening level not fun these choices just my thought's ai and challenge always comes out better.
I watched a couple of reviews from people I generally trust and was hyped about this. Natsume/Tengo's other remakes have been fantastic and this looked amazing. Unfortunately, I just finished my playthrough on PS5 and the game left a giant sour taste in my mouth. It controlled like absolute rubbish thanks to a bizarre input lag issue that honestly should not exist. I know some people also reported this for the demo but there it is present in the final version. I opted for console on this release and didn't think it would still be there but it was apparently not fixed. The fundamentals of the game are fantastic and level design is strong. Where I felt it completely falls flat on its face was the lag and how bare bones the game actually is. There's strange design choices in things like no auto fire binding which makes the spinning hover move dreadful to execute. On PC as far as I know you can map around it but why there's no option to just streamline this is beyond me. There's little clunky things like climbing from ledges needing the up input instead of a face button which I also hated. You /can/ obviously play around this and you will get used to it but I just think it's not needed. Leaderboards are great but no practice, no level select and no QoL features are again a let down. This was an issue with pocky and rocky re-shrined and it just doesn't feel like the team want's to put in the effort to add anything of the sort. Shame really. I want to love the game but as is, I won't be spending nearly as much time with it as their other releases. Great playthrough, by the way!
It was rough at first… don’t get me wrong. But honestly the more I replayed it, the more I enjoyed it. The hover (pressing down and mashing A) and the wall run (mash A here too) are extremely helpful and make those hard jumps way easier. Once you know what to bring or keep on a certain part for a few instances, the game actually becomes addicting.
