The art style for the characters is reminiscent to Fist of the North Star and the combat stylings is that of Kinnikuman.
That's because they were drawn by Tetsuo Hara, the artist behind Fist of The North Star

It never got a console port, it appeared when the arcade market was saturated with fighting games and some fans of the first part didn't like that it became a traditional fighting game instead of a wrestling game.

Ah, I remember this classic. I played it in Mexico awhile back. Considering this is the Japanese version, I always found some of the names weird. I mean, Gomes? Sheep? Really? Wtf?
