She played this piece for the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra's 75th anniversary a few years ago. I was totally impressed by her dazzling virtuosity...she plays the most difficult passages so effortlessly and so flawlessly. She has such a crystal-clear technique, she's absolutely fantastic!! I hope I can play the violin as well as her in the very near future. I love how she injects humor into this piece! Most classical violinists are too serious about their repertoire, but she has fun!
To the people who feel the laughter is disrespectful -- it's not; it's merely an affectionate acknowledgement of all the witty violinistic in-jokes she's incorporated into the piece. A brilliant bit of musical parody and tribute to some great form violinist/composers!
A great violinist and an extraordinary human being. I was able to hear it live at the National Theater of Costa Rica. And as a bonus, she played this melody. Una gran violinista y una extraordinaria ser humano. Tuve la oportunidad de escucharla en vivo en el Teatro Nacional de Costa Rica. Y como extra, tocó esta melodía.
1,000 of these views must be mine! I always post this video on Facebook when it's someone's birthday. And I come here many times just to be in awe of her glorious VIRTUOSITY. She's a female Paganini in the 21st century!
What a great performance and such a well written piece. It goes to show how much Paganini, Wieniawski & Ernst have influenced us all! Pretty cool how we could both come up with something so similar yet so different!!! Bravo, from Bruce Dukov
This is a virtuoso violinist "playing" and having fun. Wonderful! It's a perfect example of music being funny, interesting, thoughtful, creative and wonderful to listen to. Bravo!
I think there are not many violinists in the world playing as amazing and virtuoso as Rachel Barton Pine does! This whole Channel is an incredible violin-show, thank you for that!!! 😀
She is amazing, yesterday I played in the orchestra and she played Mendelssohn violin concerto, was an amazing experience heard her music and play with her. Thanks for came to Valdosta.
Oh to have this virtuosity, this power and control... and there certainly seems to be a link between being a prodigy and having compositional imagination! The gift of great all-round musicianship, mental and physical. Bravo!
I'm so excited because i get to see her perform and give me a lecture about violin for a school orchestra and I'm one out of 12 that gets to see her!!!
She literally took Nel Cor Piu by Paganini, Ernst variations, and slammed it together with Happy Birthday. LOVE IT! I wanna see Kogan play it though haha
Absolutely wonderful to hear a violinist capale of composing a highly difficult work in the style of a grand máster and executing it with command and naturality. This performance with fine bowing, good intonation, and a round sound in the Latín style, sets her apart from many other players, including more famous ones, in a higher echelon. Thank you. FERNANDO RAUDALES NAVARRA.
That was stunning! It's my birthday today, and a friend sent me this link via Facebook. WOW!! Thanks very much!! Creative genius with technique galore! Janice Violin teacher
After 30 years I restarted to play the violin again to induce my grandson into music! And it can be fun at all levels even for professionals! Andrew Rieu is making a big point about the funny side in Music!
Wow! What an amazing display of technique and style! Your composition is set out perfectly and you use a great range of styles. It seems to me that it is like a mixture of Paganini, Brahms and Dvorak. Probably many more. Thanks Rachel, I really admire you. hope to see more of your compositions:)
In general, when a video does well and gets to a certain amount of views and likes, it attracts people who for want of a better epithet are 'professional dislikers'. It happens to everyone on TH-cam, in the main the dislike button is a pointless waste of space but it also foments malice. If you don't like something or can't be bothered, then you don't press the like button, simple. The really sad part of TH-cam culture too is that if you include in the title 'fail' or 'disaster' you will get twice the views. I'm sure someone has written a thesis on this somewhere and its reflection upon modern culture and its love affair with schadenfreude. Furthermore this video showcases a brilliant piece of artistry and a musical talent many of us could only ever dream about possessing and because of that, people will dislike it. All the very best from Normandie, Pavlovafowl aka Sue
Whoa.... great concert with all the challenges :-) Thank you for posting this on youtube! Oh BTW, and this song also for my friend Sophie, she is faraway in the other continent of this earth! Hope you enjoy your day and have a great b'day ever Sophie! Blessings on your birthday... Love and hug, your brown Asian friend :-)

I’m seeing this for the first time, and all I can think of (besides her being an amazing violin player)...is what the heck kind of haters would dislike this video? I’d like to see them try playing this 😒

I'm sure Paganini is looking down and smiling.
Bryan Ho o.. mirando para arriba (or... looking up)

That passage with the left-hand pizz whilst bowing the higher strings is awe-inspiring!
Paganini himself would have been proud!!!
I'm telling you...she's the female version of Paganini in the 21st century! Almost like he was reincarnated.
What a great performance and such a well written piece. It goes to show how much Paganini, Wieniawski & Ernst have influenced us all! Pretty cool how we could both come up with something so similar yet so different!!! Bravo, from Bruce Dukov
