- Time Consuming Ep #14, "Double Faced" from Tigrans 2015 album "Mockroot" is quite a challenge. The Guest vs Host method helped me out a lot with this one.

I've discovered Tigran through David Bruce's videos, whom you've helped explain his work, but this video is a great continuation for me.
Thanks a lot!

Al fin puedo entender qué toca Arthur Hnatek
Yeah, I got 4/4 a while before your conclusion. Great work, I won't have done this :)
holy shit that was hardcore. I could swear I counted 7/8 in the home assignment!
A few people did! I wonder how, I'm super curious hahaha
Man... How does one even start when composing stuff like this? Great analysis btw!
he's a prodigy
He totally is.
I think his very very wide range of influences also comes into play. Listen to as music as you can, and take what you like from each I guess?

Como vc consegue ser tao musical
Excellent, as usual !
Awesome video, man!
Although I count the snare on 2, I would really love to be able to hear it on 1 (though, it was devious enough learning it on 2... 😂) Also, you never touched on the intro which is the only part of the song I never understood. 😟
I love hearing the snare on the 1 so maybe I'm not the best person to judge hahaha
And about the intro, don't worry.
I won't keep you hanging :)
Hey! I just listenned to Tigran's new album and in some moments i thought "yooooo i think i could use Yogev's help to figure out what the hell is going on here" ahahah
Hahahahaha yeessss which ones? I've listened to it once, and found some interesting candidates.
@@YogevGabay Vortex is the most interesting one for me. But Ara ressurrected is also quite complicated at some point
amazing video!
I've found it easier to perceive the 4/4 coming from the left hand on the piano, because it plays long chords, so it's more of an "anchor" to me (fewer notes to try to count and figure out)
I know what you mean, but if you consider the piano being the quarter note, it'll eventually change every 4 bars. You see what I mean?
@@YogevGabay kinda...
I need to think more about it
It's a hard song. There's A LOT of thinking to do here. For all of us.
I have a hard time not hearing the piano in that first section you go over as counted in 3
The intro is exactly 8 bars of 4/4 time so that first snare hit that you hear on beat one is actually a beat 3 backbeat.
I love your videos!!. Is there any chance that you could add subtitles to them? Sometimes I just can't understand some words
I don't think I'll do subtitles yet, just because it takes a loooooog time. But I'll just try to remember to speak slower!
Which is way harder than it seems.
@@YogevGabay thank you so much, my language is spanish, keep it up with the videos, they are super informative and helpful
@@ignaciojauregui7423 For sure! And I'll try to speak slower hahahah
I agree that the hihat has so much power over our perception and that part of the reason is that we're used to it having that function/we're trained to hear it that way. But is that the only reason? Why else do you think it is so dominating?
I think it's that, plus the fact that the HH usually plays quarter notes, 8th notes of half notes. Any instrument that would play that would be very rhythmically dominant. We're drawn to familiarity and the HH always ends up playing very familiar patterns!
Its in four! 😮 isn’t it? (Not finished video)
i fucking love you
"Nazaré Tedesco" is here! (confused math lady or something, hahahaha nice)
Is that Renata Sorrah (as Nazaré Tedesco) @ the 10 minute mark? Why?
It's just a meme. it's a joke hahahaha
יו אולי יש מצב שאתה עושה סרטון על de-dah של טיגראן? התיפוף שם כל כך מהמם.
ואללה אקשיב לזה !
duuuude the snare is definitely the backbeat bro how can you hear it on 1 lol
The gap is clearly the start of each riff, the very first one starts with the gap and it fits the form of the song, and it also fits the back beat. Its like a ghost-downbeat type effect.
@@jacksonmixon5090 oh I've already come to terms with the fact the gap is beat 1, but no way I can manage to hear it that way hahahha I love grooves that have the snare on beat 1 so this is how I've heard it since I listened to this song for the first time.
Also, the next section starts on that same beat, so I got some encouragement from that. If the gap is the 1, that means there's an added 2/4 bar at the end, and if the snare is the 1 there's an added 2/4 bar at the beginning. It's basically the same thing.
But yeah, I think I'm hearing it flipped. But hi, it works hahahah
Yogev Gabay yeah I feel you on that lol
When you played the paper piano 🔥🔥🔥
