  • You have a lot of sea glass that you just don't know what to do with except put in jars. Now you can do something super special with it. Learn how to create a beautiful beach glass Christmas tree.
    Here is what you will need:
    -Real or Fake sea glass (if you're using fake, try and buy pieces from a mosaic section of your favorite craft store rather than the big crumbly pieces sold in a net. You can also buy tumbled sea glass on eBay or Etsy.
    -How glue gun (Gorilla glue sticks work best)
    -Styrofoam cone shaped foam (Do not buy these at the dollar tree! They are awful quality and will crumble)
    -Mini seashells You can find them on my Etsy shop here...... www.etsy.com/l...
    -A tree topper which can be a finger starfish or any thing you can think of like a small angel or a favorite star pendant.
    Please visit my Etsy shops for my coastal items and supplies.

    This is beautiful. Thank you. If you had to guess, how many pieces of Seaglass do you think you used? I’m asking because I have a lot of Seaglass, but I have no idea if I have enough.

      @@kimskonieczny3638 That’s a really good question and actually depends on the size pieces that you would be using. If you can see in the video, all the sea glass that you see I have laid out, that is what I used. If I weighed it, I would guess that it would be about 12 ounces of sea glass. Always have more than you need though. Hope that helps.

    Use a hairdryer on high to remove the glue gun strings.

    You can use your heat gun to get rid of any glue strings! Easier than picking them off by hand.

      Yes! Or a blow dryer. I’m just concerned it will loosen spots that I don’t want to be loosened 😉

    It looks beautiful! Thank you for posting this video! Question for you, how many ounces or pounds of glass do I need for this size of a tree? How tall is the center foam piece? Also how many sticks of hot glue do I need for one tree? Thank you!

    • @thesaltyspirit3088
      @thesaltyspirit3088  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      These are great questions! The Styrofoam cone is a standard size of 6 inches in height and about 2.75 inches width at the bottom. I can only guess how many glue sticks one can use but personally I used around five. As far as the amount of sea glass, that is a really tough one. If you’re using fake or real, I would have to guess around a pound of with both large and smaller pieces. I hope that helps!

    Great video! Do you think it matters if you start at the top or bottom first?

    • @thesaltyspirit3088
      @thesaltyspirit3088  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I guess it doesn’t really matter, but I just like to start from the bottom since that’s the heaviest part of the project and I like to see how it sits early on in making it

    How do you make sure it will sit up right and not tilt over?

    • @thesaltyspirit3088
      @thesaltyspirit3088  10 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      It is important after you do the first row on the bottom to make sure it sits properly. Then anything above that line obviously will be fine.

    Can you tell when you purchased your sea glass from? I bought some on Amazon and not happy, sharp pieces

      If you have a hobby lobby or maybe even a Michaels that you can go to, go to their section where they sell mosaics or supplies for mosaics, and they usually have some nice packages of fake Seaglass

    Why not add the rhinestone star on top of the starfish! Then it’s bling?

    How would you go about adding lights?

    • @thesaltyspirit3088
      @thesaltyspirit3088  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You can easily wrap “fairy lights” around the tree. They can be battery powered or usb or even electrical. The fairy lights are so DTN. The tiny lights are on a wire, so you can easily tuck the wire underneath the pieces of sea glass.
