Update - Google's Panorama Resolution has now been fixed, in a recent software update!
The resolution might be higher than in your video, but probably still not high enough in order to compete with the iPhone as the resolution is still low.

While the Pixel 9 Pro XL is steadily becoming a top contender in the smartphone world, it still has room to improve, especially in video performance. The Pixel’s camera system is impressive, but it needs to catch up in video capabilities compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Hopefully, with the upcoming merger with TSMC, we hope to see enhanced chip performance in the next model, making the Pixel even more competitive. 😊
For photos, I still think PIXEL reigns supreme. Pixel has been doing AI since Pixel 6. It's Apple who needs to catch up.

The audio on iPhone is better? Excuse me, I might be deaf, because I heard quite the opposite
While the noise cancellation was superior on the Pixel, it did so at the expense of the bass. The iphone audio had a more rounded sound overall with both highs and lows captured well.
I agree. The Pixel sounded far better than the iPhone during the selfie video comparison. Pixel retained much richer and clearer sound, while the iPhone sounded tinny and poor quality in comparison.
Pixel audio overall sounded better to me as well

For the first time, till the half video, I got less objection about the pixel's camera performance, that is very satisfying.
Do a video of the performance of this device in social media apps but not only taking pics, film videos too comparing it to the s24 ultra and the 15 pro max

Nice comparison. I am more inclined to say its more of who is taking the picture that determines the quality in todays phone market. I see parents take kids pics at sports events and they look horrible. Then they ask me to take a pic of them with their kid and the photo looks 10x better because I use the right modes or framing. I am a pixel guy, but the distances aren't drastic enough to notice in most cases. If we didn't pixel peep every photo and compare...they both are great. Were obsessed with comparing phone cameras on who's is better, while real photographers are taking the real pics worth having.
What really bothers me is iPhone almost always has a yellow or blue tint in their pictures-videos.
This can be fixed easily with Photographic Styles in iPhone. Check it in the settings ;)

Great review as always. Two questions for you that would really help me out. Does the pixel do cinematic video from the front camera with background blur? If I recall correctly that was lacking on past models. Also, when you do the video boost, can that video be exported (after being boosted) or is it only for viewing in Google Photos?

Exactly best phone is the phone you currently own😂 for example i have vivo 1 inch sensor these pixels iPhones can't stand in front of that sweet 1 inch sensor pictures.
I recently had the chance to clean up around 70,000 of old photos and back them up, taken with smartphones the last years. Let me tell you what:
1. Photo quality? Doesn't matter that much at the end. Only memories matter.
2. Zooming in like 20x? To capture what memory? Hell no, I didn't even have even 5x zoom that was a good memory / capture
3. The most appealing focal length for photos is 28mm, it's like the 1.2X for todays 24mm camera phones.
20x is great if you want to read a menu written with fontsize 11 on a opposite side of a road.

I see the trend of relying on "AI" instead of hardware so they can charge you continuously instead of giving you the hardware from the start
Software creation cost money too, it shouldn't really be one over the other but rather a great balance of the two.

Sometimes the Pixel is significantly better, sometimes the iPhone is significantly better, sometimes the Pixel is slightly better and the iPhone is slightly better sometimes.
It depends on the scenario.

I know many people with the latest iPhones, they're the ones that always ask me if i used a professional camera. 😂
That's why i love pixel, I love surprising people with my pictures making them think i used an expensive DSLR camera.

I remember thinking how the Pixel 8 Pro design was really human-centric and organic while iPhones & Samsungs just looked like cold pieces of glass. The flat sides of the Pixel 9 is Google taking a step in the opposite direction. Their MO has always been tech with humane designs that are made to blend with nature and everyday life. Leave the techy-futuristic designs to other companies.
I think they both need to make a 4k and 8k capable phones

While using S23U last year, I had to borrow friends Pixel 4a for some decent pictures of my dog (it looks like shutter lag and motion blur still plague Samsung phones). Damn, that camera performance was light years ahead of Samsung.
I switched to Iphone 14 PM, but still prefer Pixel results when it comes to pictures. Videos are whole another thing, I can't really understand why they (or any Android company) don't invest more time and resources polishing it.

You left out Apple Log, cinematic mode for video enhanced action mode, the iPhone also shoots images with all the depth information to turn them into portrait images anytime you want, ability to shoot spatial videos

Camera is a small part of what the phones can do , like gaming individual software , AI technology and much more to compare.
9:54 This is the initial video boost file, which is much, much worse than a default 20x zoom video! The difference between a normal 4k 20x video and a video boost 20x video is much, much smaller on a Pixel 9 Pro XL!

I love these comparisons but I feel like there is a big of a difference between these two. When saying some of the videos specifically are better on google, that is after offloading to the server. That is cool but its raw performance still lacks in comparison to the apple which is fine. In my own opinion I believe that in these newer phone comparisons using AI should not be a factor as it is all post processing. Good video though!

Appreciate the amount of effort and depth in this video, but with that said, why does no one ever mention/cover the Pixel "Astrophotography" mode in the night mode comparisons?
This mode lets you take longer exposure night shots (up to 4 mins for a dark night sky, auto stacking lots of shots) and using this mode in any situation where you have a tripod/something to rest your phone on, will get you very detailed and well balanced night photos... It's weird to me that the mode isn't even mentioned because I've found it really useful and fun to play with
We used to test this but sadly, since we're based in the UK, we almost never see any stars. Only clouds :(

This was a good year for iPhone as it still keeps up pretty well with the new pixel and the Samsung that came after, let’s see how much the new iPhone raises the bar now
Honestly most flagship phones within the last 3 years have kept up.... There's not much leaps and bounds in the camera tech, just more refinement & trying to cater color temperature, blur, etc to what is perceived that people want.

iphone just can't take RAW photos, it looks oversharpened. Pixel wins. The pics you can take on RAW mode with the Pixel its a photographers Oasis
It's insane that Google is charging premium prices for a phone that clearly isn't a premium phone. Any modern flagship can shoot 4k and sometimes even 8k on device but Google has to 'videoboost' your videos on their servers and send it back to you.
Not to mention their video quality overall is not consistent.
Seems the Pixel 9 Pro is a skip for this year.
Hopefully the Pixel 10 with the first completely Inhouse produced tensor 5 chip (rather than todays modified exynos chip) will be Google's Apple A-chip moment

when compare results of both camera . you should add more protrait shots of humans . so we can see the clear difference . mostly people takes shot of human . in this whole comparison there is only one human shot .

you should show people how bad edge detection of pixel phone . you should show how pixel show slightly red tint when capturing humans . you should show you cant get dslr like bokeh in pixels portrait because they are not able to take 5x portrait because of their poor edge detection .
by just showing details shadows boost which can also done easily by post editing .
