5:17 how did you manage to "select the leg" in one go like that? I've been at this for an hour and find it utterly unintuitive. So far I've only been able to select an "object" by clicking each individual edge and face. (Or click-drag selecting, but it only works in one direction..? And once the object is touching another surface you can't select the meeting area..?)
I was able to select the leg in one click because it is a Component. Groups also work like this. Right click and then "make component" or "make group". The whole component or group gets selected at the same time, and you can double click to go inside that object and edit it. To select a whole object that is NOT grouped (or a component), you can triple click one of the parts.
@@BobsWoodStuff Thanks a mil. I'd missed that "make component" part of your video the first time through. Managing a little better now - this is my first time diving into a 3d modelling program and simply getting the camera to move where I want it took a lot of getting used to. The steep learning curve sent me into max frustration, but now I've figured out how modifier keys change the mouse behaviour, and where you click on an object plus the mouse direction you move in directly afterward all gets interpreted in different way that just take some getting used to.
Great video, thank you! I was just trying out the software and it wasn't feeling intuitive at all, but it turns out it is! you've just got to know what you're doing :D
@@BobsWoodStuff ah, I just signed up for the free web version and got into a empty editor with no clue of what to do but mess around with all the buttons to see what each do (which is not a bad way to learn, but definitely harder :D )
going to build a garden tiered plant bench. thought come and see if can do digitally easier then easier to work out how much wood i need. still a bit complicated. hopeyour videos can help me
