I’m a retired mechanical engineer who started on the drawing board, moved to AutoCAD and spent the last 15 years of my career using SolidWorks. Now in my retirement I have a small drawing board in my “shop” and have resurrected my T-square, triangles and compasses. I’m enjoying using skills that I haven’t used in decades, and since I’m a hobbyist, I don’t mind the time spent.

Thanks for such a great walk-through.
On the off-chance you're still answering comments on older posts, I'm wondering what mouse or other peripherals you recommend for Sketchup? Are trackpads/trackballs easier to use? I'm using a magic mouse with my Mac and it's kind of rough. Do you recommend a particular style of mouse?

So you can`t generate a cut/material list with Sketchup?

I like the background in the video. Have any better shots of the shelves?

Cool. What I'd like to know is if its worth upgrading to a paid version. Most videos Ive seen so far are made by illiterate power users and by that I mean they basically read the website product sheets and shill for the company, this includes a guy who writes/publishes Sketchup books for professions.
