Experience Mohonk without Paying the $700 a night!

  • The best budget-friendly way to experience Mohonk Mountain House:
    * To stay at Mohonk on average costs about $700/night.
    * We got in with breakfast for $44.50 a person!
You can get a hiking day pass for $28, but you can't reserve it so its a toss-up whether you will get to hike the day of when you show up. You also are restricted from going in the house.
The meals, on the other hand, you can reserve in advance and comes with hiking pass and access to the house, including afternoon tea.
We enjoyed the whole day at Mohonk, and stayed at an Airbnb 2 miles from the gates.

I was a Freshman at SUNY New Paltz, in the Fall of 1966. On I believe it was October 8th, I climbed to the top of Mount Mohonk, after classes concluded. That evening, guys I knew were so impressed! They said that I must be in fantastic shape to do that! About 20 minutes later, I admitted that I had climbed up the path!

You can pay just 16. If you go from the Mohonk Preserve trailheads. Mohonk preserve is not the same at the Mt house but surrounds the Mt house grounds and allows access to their trails also Go via Mohonk PRESERVE way cheaper. High falls has wonderful breakfast options

When you were there did you feel a certain something? A calm feeling of peace? There's a reason for that. For thousands of years the area was a crossroads for the tribes going north to south and east to west. Being smart ALL the tribes put that area off limits for fighting. Peace has existed there for a long long time and I hope that it always will

Upload brought me here. Im a big fan of the show and I just finished Season 3 today and discovered "Lakeview" is actually this Mountain House in NY. Too bad I didn't know about this place when I actually lived in NYC. Glad I found your video and I'm looking forward to the hike (not between the rocks though. That would make me claustrophobic). Hopefully they'll still allow day pass holders on-site the hotel. A lot has changed since Covid. Thanks again so much for the video! Glad you and your family had a good time.

Unfortunately the dining is now closed to day visitors, probably cause of Covid. I still want to go just for hiking though, do you think I could get a taxi there? Is there such services for non guests?

Oh sorry to hear that. You should be able to still buy a hiking pass, but that might be the only way you can get in without actually booking a room.

Mohonk preserve & Mohonk Mt house are two different places. Mohonk preserve never closes in winter! Their is cross country skiing & hiking. You can access the area of mohonk
My house via a day pass 16. At any mohonk preserve trailheads or the visitor center

    • @Famvestor
      @Famvestor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes no visitor parking. There are surrounding hiking trails around, but if you want to hike at Mohonk, one way or another you are going to have to pay.

@@mathalwaysii the $15/day hiker parking lot is right by the guard shack. From there it's a looong walk though the woods before you get to the Mohonk Grounds. (Labyrinth, etc) and resort and then back again when you're done on the mountain.

@@jokedog I actually ended up going this past weekend. The breakfast deal is not available. the "cheapest" dining option, is the outdoor bbq at the Granary for $98 /person.
besides that its $120 for the lunch options.
and yes, the meal in fact does cover the entrance fee, you have access to the trails as well as the mountain house - and you should be able to make reservations for any of the activities like Tennis or lake activities

@@Utuberj0sh Thanks for the info Josh. Planning to head up the Hudson valley this weekend. I couldn't find the info anywhere, not posted on their website either or outdated info on Tripadvisor. The price gets ridiculous for 4. I usually go to Minneswaska State Park near Mohonk, its $15 for parking. The most scenic hike for me, so want to check out if Mohonk is worth the fuss. Thanks again.

No. The price has gone up dramatically. We live near Mohonk and it has priced itself out of the locals. The suggestion to go to the Preserve is still reasonable.

My wife loves the place but the cost is going too high. Since they have become highly rated and have been world renown for a while the costs have gone up. The service is not what it used to be and they have limited the menu at the restaurants.
