I'm a Brit who lived in Manhattan for 12 years and did this hike many times - this video captures the experience perfectly. I remember doing the final bit where you burst out into daylight again, the first time I did it I really didn't know how to do it and followed the others in my hiking group and just wiggled my way out. The Lemon squeeze and Mohonk labyrinth are exhilarating hikes within a reasonable distance from NYC

We managed to get up the lemon squeeze just before it started pouring rain! 😂

Yes, the price for entry is pretty steep. However, not sure if you knew this or not, once you pay for entry, you are also allowed to use the hotel facilities (i.e. swimming or boating in the lake) for free as well (they only charge extra for horseback riding or using the spa). Technically, the facilities are only for hotel guests, but no one checks. Also, if you make reservations for the spa, or for lunch or dinner at the Mountain House, then you get to enter for free, so that would be a good alternative to spend the entire day there without having to pay for a hotel room (although if you stay at the hotel, the price does include all meals). Pay for a meal, go and spend the entire day there for free. Both times we have went there, that is what we did, and we could park in the guest parking right outside the hotel (no 2 mile walk). Meals are prix fixe (they only charge extra for alcohol), and from what I understand, some guests will order multiple appetizers or multiple entrees (similar to meals on cruise ships).

Thanks for the awesome video. I live about an hour away and I was looking for new hiking trails. As much fun as this looks, It's not for me. 40 years ago maybe, but not now.

There is an alternate route that is much easier, albeit not as exciting to go from the hotel up to Skytop. The alternate route is extremely easy and you can make it from the hotel to Skytop in about half an hour.

I was there recently and the price for tickets went up to $35. The rock scrambles made it worth it though!

Love Mohonk Preserve! Unfortunately the labyrinth was closed the last time. Have you been there in the winter time?

    Are dogs 🐕 allow?

Dogs are not allowed (and I wouldn’t recommend it because there are ladders to climb and it’s pretty tight!)
