  • Join me on a long cold walk around our new neighbourhood! I think this area of Edinburgh deserves more appreciation, and it is a nice quiet (ok, unless a game is on) oasis just a couple steps away from Princes Street!
    Have you ever explored around Haymarket station? Or did this video motivate you to come visit? .)

    I am 87 years old and well remember this area of Edinburgh. My sister lived in Gardners Crescent and my best friend lived in Morrison Street but the house she lived in although it wasn’t an old house, has long gone. Edinburgh has changed so much since I lived there. I have given up visiting because there is nothing left of the area in Fountainbridge, where I lived. I suppose it is progress but it is also ,very sad.

    Just visited Scotland/Edinburgh for the first time and stayed in the Haymarket area. Nice quiet residential street, with lots of food options and conveniences within walking distance. Loved it.

    Nice!
    We lived in a top floor flat on W. Maitland St. In the 60’s when I was little.
    We were sent to Sunday School at the church with the red doors.
    We could see St Mary’s out of our bedroom windows.
    The neighbourhood has really changed since back then!

    Stag Barber is so great! Everyone there is warm, friendly, and down to earth! It's a wee little place but they do an amazing job and the coffee is excellent! Also if you book in for a service drinks from there are only a pound! My partner and I just moved to Gorgie a few months ago so we've been exploring and getting to know this side of town more. We love it so far!

      You have no idea. TODAY this cat SNUCK INTO OUR HOUSE without either of us noticing and we just locked him in with our cat for three hours 😂 but there were no signs of distress in the house so either our cat didn’t even notice or they just super hit it off .D

    • @NickiNewellArt
      @NickiNewellArt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kakibot Woah! I am amazed they didn't kill eachother. So do you have two cats now? 😂
      We had our cats at my parent's house and kept them separate from my parents cats but one day our cats got out and we didn't know until we heard growling in the other room. Is was a stand off between my parents two huge cats and our small female cat with our 2nd cat cowering behind her. Luckily we were able to remove the cats and diffuse the situation before anything happened.😬

    Thank you for your charming video. I am visiting Edinburgh in three week's time. Last year I discovered a great little eatery on the Dalry Road, the GF Cafe . Being a celiac, this was a real find as I'm always looking for places I can eat. Even my husband, who is not a celiac, loved them, so I'm hoping we'll be able to visit them again during our stay.

    I’ve asked a few times on Instagram but no one has given me an answer, is that building at Melville Crescent privately owned or is it a business?

    I may have heard it before but in Daniel Sloss's book he claims that no building in Edinburgh can be taller than the castle. Is that still true? It may have been the angle or elevation, but those new buildings look like they're going to be pretty big.

    • @Kakibot
      @Kakibot  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just thinking of the skyline (including all the new developments) I think that is still true! At least in the city centre - I feel like in the south there are some residential areas that are built on some pretty impressive hills. I wonder if maybe the Blackford hill observatory is built a bit higher but not as tall because it's a fairly small building.... hm, thank you now my brain is going down a real rabbit hole haha!
