Nope. But if you wanted to unlock the Tiny Chao Garden, Sound Test, Boss Time Attack and Amy Rose, getting all Chaos Emeralds with each character is a must. You don't unlock anything if you get all the emeralds as Amy, though.
Cheese can have two forms of attack. At burst speed, Cheese will circle around Cream like a force field (i.e. 18:17). Before burst speed, it is target-based... She points, Cheese goes. There is a one second cooldown period between attacks.
Because the special stages in this game only ends when the timer runs out, and since there,s no way to skip it you have to time an jump to avoid lossing rings.
