Hi Billy! I used your tutorial as a starting point for when I made my trolley. The only changes I made was using more appropriate knots. Burning the ends is smart, but the knots were not secure. Plus, they stick out at weird angles. I used a couple of layers of shrink wrap to hold the rope ends flat. I make a similar change to my canoe seat. Much more comfortable. Thanks, again.
Looks like a good set up but keep in mind the extra weight of all this gear. Don't know if you have additional floatation but it helps just in case of swamping
I tied one end to the bow handle and the other into a bowline. Form loop around my plastic jug anchor. I have an eight foot piece of paracord tied off to my middle thwart and a carabiner on the other end snapped onto the anchor paracord. Pull the line from the thwart to get hold of the anchor line for retrieval.
Good ideas here. I've used anchor pulley's in my canoes, but they aren't as versatile as the anchor trolley. May have to try this in my Pathfinder. (One of the nice things about having an old/used canoe is not being afraid of drilling some holes in it!! LOL)
I’m trying to figure out how your carabiner is better than a good ring. If your anchor rope is a loop or on a ring then it will hang on the top knot of your trolley if it clips on underneath the knots (on your carabiner) then you have an easy to clip on anchor rope and you may as well have used a ring. You could slip knot the anchor on but that would be more cumbersome than all of the above. So... I’m at a loss. How does the carabiner save you time/make it easier/improve life vs. a ring?
I bought a packaged trolley, waiting to out it on my discovery 119, which hasnt arrived yet!😂 but using the caribiner is a great idea to be able to remove your anchor line from the trolley so its not just hanging there. Thanks for the tips! How do you like the GCI seat? I have one of those thats yet to be used as well lol
Hey hjkh...good luck installing! So useful in current and windy days! I like the seat...it should fit right onto the seat that the discovery 119 has... I just wanted something a little higher and I also moved the seat forward for better balance and tracking...it really helped. I also use additional cushion on the seat as the GCI seat is not very comfy after a couple hours on the water.
@@BillysWWF i was curious how well it would do compared to a seat in say the sportsmans model. I hear mixed reviews on seats and unfortunately Old town wont sell just the seat from the sportsman. Ill mostly just be fishing, duck hunting, and travelling to different hunting areas so hopefully it goes well! Id love to see a review of the canoe on your channel. Best of luck fishing and keep up the good work!
@@UserFormelyKnownAs_hjkh I wasn't impressed with the Solo Sportsman 119 seat. It looks like it's going to be a lot more comfortable than it actually is, IMO. I had the same GCI seat that Billy is using, like he said it gets a little uncomfortable after a while. The GCI Sitbacker has like 1/4'" more cushion. It's a little more $$ but it's more comfortable IMO.
@@freshwatersbassfishing i didnt buy the sportsman model, just the plain jane discovery. But that triple layer hull is much thicker than my 159 old town. The regular discovery has woven seats so i put the GCI seat on it. I agree it gets a little uncomfortable after a long time on it. I had bought a suspension mesh stadium seat at a big box bulk store a while back and used some 550 cord to secure it nice and tight to the discovery seat. Now that i can sit in all day long!
@@UserFormelyKnownAs_hjkh I had the regular Disco 119 as well. Did the same thing. Added a GCI seat and eventually a stadium seat. Still wasn't very comfortable for me. I attribute that to old knees! I wound up getting a 14'10 Pathfinder and installing a solo seat. I sit much higher up and it's super comfortable. And it's big and sturdy enough that I can stand and fish.
Its plain to see by your fire burning ceremonies that you're a very sick individual in need of plenty of rest and relaxation in the great outdoors this coming season!lol But in a more serious note... The Gospel of John, when you're ready, friend.🔥😊
Awesome install. Neat, inexpensive, and quick.
It’s gonna be a windy Father’s Day…we’ll put it to good use tomorrow. Good luck with it!

Thanks for the feedback Sirrehpotsirhc !!! Glad you enjoyed the video though ✌️
Thanks man. I've been looking for a good solution to this. It will be nice to drop anchor easily.

@@dontall71 good advice…thank you !!! However, I have sold the canoe and moved to a Pelican kayak. Cheers

Nice! Thanks for sharing. Very simple so I will be working on mine just like yours.
Awesome...good luck TNF!

True...plenty of holes indeed. Just got to fire away...but measure twice...lol. Good luck. Mine definitely comes in handy on those windy days.

I just bought one last week and I love it.
Good luck with it...makes life a lot easier. Especially in current or wind.
Nice work. What’s seats are those?
Thanks Memnok. Check out my seat video for what’s the best! th-cam.com/video/ztRRpC2XtS0/w-d-xo.html

Thanks for your observation Benty. I prefer the method I used with the carabiner for a quicker release of the anchor.

...and yes waiting on a nice spring 😁
How does this system work for you so far?
Absolutely love it. Just installed exact system on my new kayak also. Good luck!
