JP, it's nice to see these wonderful roadside Adventures Thank you for sharing this. I wasn't disappointed in the least. Today you might say it's Monday 11-11-24 1:31am.
That is actually a rather significant southern black baptist church that was first founded right after the Civil War. I'm happy to see it remaining this intact after 40+ years of dis-use. Thanks for the video!
Road trips are incredible. There really is nothing like those roadside finds and just travelling the back roads because life is a journey, not a trip. The journey and the destination are equally important because they are one with each other, and neither can really exist without the other. Keep them coming, my brother.
Praise the Lord! Great to see you in church, JP! It’s nice that there’s still respect there, and no one has ruined it! Enjoyed the video and hopefully more is coming! Thanks for taking us along; much appreciated……🌝
Fantastic❣️ Augusta Springs is where m father was born and my paternal family goes back many generations. My great grandparents old abandoned farmhouse is right in the middle of Augusta Springs. So cool just running into this video by accident.
Love the organ in that church...pastors home is called a parsonage. Very cool finds Jay! VA and WV always remind me of my fave show The Waltons. God Bless 🙏🙏🌺🙏🙏 Looking forward to the upcoming adventures you have for us...
As a former resident of Virginia, lived there 25yrs, I traveled a lot like you do taking pictures. You can get on any road and find abandon homes that can be as old as 300 yrs old or older. By the way Virginia was voted number 1 in the nation for it's National Parks and upkeep of them. I miss Virginia very much as I now live in Yuma AZ. Very different but beautiful in its way.
That old church was awesome!! And the views were very nice! I remember going to Blackstone Virginia from Arkansas back in the 80's and it was beautiful :)
The church was a fantastic find! So happy no graffiti and hopefully it will stay the same.. Love Virginia and it's history. Looking forward to more of your videos. Thank you J.P
What an awesome explore ....the scenery , the wonderful old church ., the little red caboose ...I loved it all ....Thank you so much for sharing this adventure 👍💙
This was AWESOME !!!! All of it is so pretty in Virginia !!! Good to see little mom and pop Gas Stations still doing well !! Sad to see the downtown areas empty . So many interesting or down right AMAZING things like that CHURCH !!! Folks in the South are so respectful.....I love it the church is so well respected and preserved only natural decay .....I hope that it stays just this way . Great video as always !!! I can't wait to see what's next !!! 👍👍
What a gorgeous day for a roadside finds journey! You sure found some fantastic places and items. The place that used to be the resort and hotel and the surrounding area was stunning and that is wonderful you found the incredible church with no vandalism! It is for sure frozen in time. Awesome picture of you standing behind the pulpit! lol The coat rack and so forth piece is so beautiful and I loved the piano and organ, I was admiring the piano bench and organ stool, they are so cool! Really neat that the old train depot was turned into a gallery, and it was fun to see the old red caboose. The whole video is amazing JP, thank you! 💙
Glad you enjoyed all the interesting & beautiful finds along this trip. The history behind that wetlands area is actually rather fascinating so stay tuned for a video on that.
Wonderful video, and the Baptist Church is a treasure! In all my years of exploring abandoned buildings I've only been lucky enough to come across about a dozen or so that were in similar condition, untouched by vandalism, and unmarked by graffiti. Well done!
Hi JP the church did look like a old school house! Very nice pictures in the end lovely country side! Looking forward to your next video in the winter! ❤😊
As always, another great video!! 😃 Just a heads up, from someone who moved from PA to this area (and learning the hard way 😂) the town at the beginning is pronounced Swope (rhymes with rope).
I really enjoy your road trips. I amazed that you have the courage to just stop at places you see and investigate them. The photos are great....some are unusual. I can't wait for what's coming up. Thanks JP.
The route you took 254, 42, 39 is what we used to take to go to the Homestead resort in Hot Springs Virginia. We did family vacations there for about 20 Years. Beautiful place with an old historic hotel. Virginia, West Virginia area is a beautiful part of the country. And that church was like you said a gem of a find, so neat!
Another amazing road trip. I am not very mobile so getting out through your videos is a real treat. Appreciate you sharing these and looking forward to more. So unusual to find something unspoiled by time like that church. Thank you JP. 😊
That old Baptist church was beautiful. Too bad it couldn't be preserved like the other one was. The thing you said must be for the holy water wasn't. Those are for holding the bulletins and/or guest or new member registries. The Baptists, like most Protestant churches, do not do holy water or do the cross when walking in. They just walk in and sit down. They also do not kneel during prayer. Notice there are no kneelers? They don't have priests. They have preachers or reverends. Just a little Baptist FYI. Loved this beautiful road trip. Thanks for taking us along.
Very nice! That brief clip you showed from an earlier video with steam trains featured a Shay locomotive! I love them--they are so fascinatingly different!
I love all of your videos. I was looking at your merch. I was hoping to find a decal saying "get out and explore your world". Thanks for sharing all of your discoveries!
Beautiful fall video -- and nice to see roads and rural areas not overly busy and hectic. Cool church. I gather that a lot of the video was shot on the Pocket 3 -- seems to work really well for the walk/talk explorations that you do and has great picture quality. Thanks for sharing!
Welcome back to my 'neck of the woods'! One of my favorite drives in fall are Rt's 42 and 39 through VA and WV. @6:50, yep the leaves are running about 7-10 days behind schedule. Although the 'show' is over up there PLEASE tell me you took Rt 150 (Highland Scenic Highway) on this trip. Awesome views on that road.
It's amazing what you can find if you take the time to look. The church was fantastic and I never knew about Virginia being named after Elizabeth the first.
THAT PART OF THE USA LOOKS SO SIMILAR TO WHERE I RESIDE IN AUSSIELAND. I DID NOT KNOW THAT IGA SUPERMARKETS ARE IN THE USA, THERE IS ONE 5 MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IN LOOKS VS WHERE I RESIDE, HARDLY ANY ABANDONED BUILDINGS, I GO BUSH OFTEN AS I LIVE IN THE COUNTRY AND REALLY NO BUILDINGS LEFT TO ROT. AS A CHRISTIAN I FOUND IT SAD TO SEE THAT OLD CHURCH, BUT I AM SURE IT SPREAD GOD'S GOSPEL.
just because there is no posted signs does not mean you are not trespassing on someone's property that you do not own. I'm not trying to be an ass. I have a farm with a lot of old outbuildings that people think it is ok to go into off of the C&O Canal. There is a couple good apps that will show you property lines and the owners name for it is public available just for these reasons.
I think you found your calling there jp u need to become a priest 😅hay you never know you look like a priest to me up there I think I ask u before are you Catholic or ??..and that's a shame someone should preserve that little church looks like all original to me and West Virginia is not to far from me probably like 25--30 miles from me a bit more towards town I've never been around where you are that's pretty far away from me..
Such an interesting find! I got curious about the Rev. R. H. Boyd (Who was he?) and found this most interesting bit of info on him- thank you for sharing this trip! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R._H._Boyd
Now that was one heck of a find! Hope you enjoyed the journey as much as the findings.

The old church is amazing! ⛪ Sadly it will eventually fall in on itself. . So glad that you documented it before it's gone!
Awesome find!! Beautiful journey!! Thank you for sharing!💙
Thanks for taking me along for this adventure.

You missed a few cool things in Craigsville by not going into town and going down Railroad Ave., but the neat church find more than made up for it!
I'll be back again. If you have any tips on what to see, shoot me an email.
That was an awesome road find trip Jason! The history and the church is interesting. Thank you for sharing, BEAUTIFUL! ❤️❤️

That church is worth saving. The community should get behind that. Cool video!
This was very enjoyable to watch! Lots of gems out there!

Fun tour, JP, thanks! Didn't know how widespread IGAs were; we have them out here in eastern Washington state.

Correct, the pocket 3 was used and I love the video quality.

Hi jp I had a lot of fun seeing along the road I like the church ❤
You should check out Rockford, N.C, entire town is historic. Unincorporated.
Clifton Forge has the C&O Rwy Heritage Center, fyi.
It's amazing what you can find if you take the time to look. The church was fantastic and I never knew about Virginia being named after Elizabeth the first.
I never knew that either
those backroad adventures are great, just never know what's out there to be discovered
That church reminds me of our old church.
@24:59 😂😅😂🤣😅
Do you plan on seeing Harper's Ferry, WV?
Maybe one day
@@JPVideos81
It's NW of marlington and close to the Pennsylvania border. Beautiful town. Lots of history.
Mr. JP, I'll be in Weston, West Virginia next week with my mom. Will you be near there?
I'm back in Pennsylvania now

Saying “Holy Cow” in a Church is kinda funny. More fitting in India though 😂
🐄😅

Any idea of age of overgrown church , and or when it was abandoned?
Built 1890. Appears to be abandoned for atleast a decade.
❤🤩👍❤🙋♀️🇨🇭
What was the Bible opened up to in the church?
