4:04 Because that's about how much time you have to do on crota anyway? Lowkey looks like you chose 26 seconds because that's when you started to dps in your best throne cleaver damage clip and that's also the amount of time it took you to dump all your heavy ammo. Let's assume you are not on oversoul duty while you are using bequest and lament just like you weren't when you were using throne cleaver, what's stopping you from waiting on top of crota and using all 30 seconds of the damage phase on him? It probably isn't ammo right since adaptives use less ammo on heavy attacks, it probably isn't killing an add since you don't need to proc duelist trance on those swords either. Not saying throne cleaver isin't the best just trying to point out some things that I feel like were not fair against bequest and lament. Also bequest can also get duelist trance on the left column and have surrounded on at the same time, any specific reason you didn't test them with the same perks? Also I wish you showed which perks and spec you were using on your legendary swords because for all I know you might have accidently had on tempered edge and enduring guard on bequest. Just some feedback you should maybe keep in mind when testing things out
Aegis’s spreadsheet says Bequest 2L1H does 138,676 while Throne Cleaver 1H2L does 109,538 and Lament 2L1H2R does 109,772. I’ve got to believe his numbers because his methodology is a lot more accurate, but regardless, Bequest is still a better option because you can use it on hunter and pair it with a pre-popped nighthawk which will give you a better overall damage increase even using your numbers, which are inaccurate.
You could've easily gotten another heavy hit in there before you died too if you didn't use ammo on the adds before the damage phase, so you can really say that 6.4 mil is doable at the very least. That's actually nuts

saw an aztecross video talking about guillotine it technically out damages bequest (frenzy surrounded) but is way less ammo efficient. plus keep in mind it’s have enhanced perks too in final shape. I still don’t think it’s worth running over other options due to its terrible ammo efficiency but it’s worth a mention.
Interesting vid. I'd like to add a couple things regarding Lament. 1st, is to start with 5 revved light + H to get the most damage out of all those hits from the start, whould be a solid chunk. Then, with 2 Lucent Blade mods (Or maybe even 1), you can shift into a 2 regular lights -> 3 revved lights -> revved heavy -> repeat. This will give you extra banshee's wail stacks for the heavy attack, improving the damage.
This is trading higher dps and total damage for a higher combo damage. You need to compare your combo damage to the ammo it uses and the time it takes to do. This is not optimal. Do the combo in the video with 3x lucent blades.
I’ve been using witherhoard/throne cleaver since Crotas end dropped in D2 and almost always have had one of the highest of not the highest boss damage numbers in my fireteams. And nobody ever assumes it’s gonna do as good as it does. Although to be fair I don’t even have the same setup as you
Throne cleaver actually does good damage thats kinda dope but sucks that titans just do so much damage with banner and sythos or worm gods and can just be tractor
I'm pretty sure you need 3 light attacks to maximize Lament's damage. So Those might be some nerfed damage numbers coming out of Lament. Also as a Lament enjoyer, I generally get off around 5 million damage but I also have ammo after a phase. Either way I'm going to try a throne cleaver on my strand build and see how it compares.
Vortex Frame swords are for those situations when you get suddenly surrounded by surprise and need a quick rescue, just switch to sword and do one heavy attack to delete all nearby adds.
I'm definitely going to try this. I mix in heavies with Bequest to burn through as much ammo as possible and in my experience that does much better damage than just light attacks. How long does Duelists last and is only using 1 copy of Lucent Blades a deal breaker for shown combo?
Honestly Idk who is right here, but this is the document I have been using for DPS which is based on theoretical frame perfect dmg made by Aegis and Bequest should hit about 26% harder than thronercleaver if using the 2L1H1R combo with x3 lucent blades It should do more than thronecleaver even if just using light attacks which directly contrast with what the video said. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_5wtBjRYHHxuF4oJKDb_iOGZs-wTkzB6RYbnyNLbuz4/edit?usp=drivesdk

Excellent video. One small criticism. At least based on Aegis spreadsheet, bequests best dps combo is better if you use heavy attacks too. The combo being 2L1H1R (R meaning regular light) repeat. This is assuming you have 3 lucent blades. Without heavys bequests dps drops a decent amount, though bequest light attacks are probably easier and more consistent to pull off due to Crotas somewhat inconsistent hitbox.
Thank you! And yeah I've heard about the Aegis spreadsheet but can't find it. If someone could send it to me I'd take a look. I am going to retest some things in a different video
great numbers but on the majority of the clips when you are hitting Crota there are no adds near you, so no surrounded - most of the calculations are for the scenarios that will never happen in game
How do you have surrounded proc'd for the entirety of Crota's damage phase when it goes away after 1.5s of not being 'surrounded'? Surely Crota's not considered 3+ enemies?
If you notice, they're doing DPS near one of the towers by the boomer knights and you can keep some of those orange bar wizards alive nearby. It's definitely different than where you would typically do damage from, but this is how you get surrounded active for Bequest or Throne Cleaver.
Bequest is still just as good if not better. You noted in your testing how much the heavy attack does for bequest but when you’re using that sword the right way you’re never going to use the heavy attack you’re going to be light attacking non stop the whole dps phase and in the time it takes you to get off 2 lights and a heavy attack with throne cleaver you could be hitting like 8+ light attacks with bequest at 90+k per hit if you have surrounded and your surges proc’d which results in more damage
For Lament the optimal combo is either: 1) 3x1x1 with 3 Lucent Blades (slightly lower DPS, but higher total damage) 2) 3x1x2 with 2 Lucent Blades (higher DPS, lower total damage) For Bequest, the optimal combo is 2 light 1 heavy with 3 Lucent Blades. However, regardless how many Lucent Blades you're using, it will always be optimal to use your heavy attack as soon as you have any sword energy available, unless you're at risk of running out of ammo (which you won't be during Crota if you start with full ammo). As for the Throne Cleaver, it looks like Duelist's Trance makes no difference as in your video at Kalli, you get off another heavy attack after 2 light attacks, regardless of having Duelist's Trance or not. Whether your sword energy is fully charged or not when you heavy attack makes no difference. Though I have no idea how many Lucent Blades you have on at that time.
I already see a mistake with the calculations... You dont factor in the attacks being slower on Throne-cleaver. Or the fact that your Buffs are wearing off faster than you are doing dps. So if you take off the 25% well the 10% banner of war. That will leave throne-cleaver at around 4.3 mill dmg. Then factoring in the recover from each swing during the airtime throne cleaver will be left at 3.6mill dmg Leaving it behind any other sword out there.
To this day, not a single person has done more damage to crota than me. And I used Lament. Without a damage super. :/ its tough being a massive fucking PvE warlord such as myself..

Is Caretaker even worth considering? Same perks as thrown cleaver and it can also have Relentless Strikes

What about caretaker?
Big flaw in the video, you only light attack with bequest just like gold tusk basically.
I see your point
However: you need all Titans as it's a Titan exclusive sword and this is just a promotion to make more people into Titan mains
For Lament the optimal combo is either:
1) 3x1x1 with 3 Lucent Blades (slightly lower DPS, but higher total damage)
2) 3x1x2 with 2 Lucent Blades (higher DPS, lower total damage)
For Bequest, the optimal combo is 2 light 1 heavy with 3 Lucent Blades.
Duelists trance is necessary for Throne Cleaver because on kali without it I didnt hit a full heavy worth of damage.
Don’t care, show true health bar damage
Yes but throne cleaver requires I get off hunter for the first time in 2000 hours.. not happenin bub.
Goldtusk then
Mean while….. if your on titan and your not bad you just just be doing strand titan damage especially since your already leaving ads alive lol
You need a kill to set this up?
One kill yes before hand at any time.
but lament is still good because it keeps you alive (this is copium throne cleaver on top)
