as a US citizen, I strongly feel that an assertive India is the best ally for US in the region, and in fact the entire globe.
Perhaps usa should choose a better ally than a curry country. Korea Japan Australia and EU
In what do you want Bharat to be a US "ally"? As a European, I associate the term "ally" with conflict or competition. Why should the US seek conflict and competition in Asia? Why not reach out a hand to 1.4B people in Bharat, 1.4B people in China and all the billions of people across Eurasia, Africa, the Americas, and Oceania? Why does there have to be an "ally" rather than one of many "friends" and "partners"? I would value a deeper European bond with Bharat myself but see the people of Bharat as our friends, not our "allies". Let's bridge the continents, let's include all players, let's sit down at a table, respect each other's reasonable interests, and use our power in smart, constructive ways - together instead of in against each other. I believe that the term "ally" is not going to stand the test of time. We see economic and geopolitical developments around the world of a kind that will turn things upside down in some regards. And it's up to us to deal with it now in a wise, human and confident fashion instead of ignoring the truth or hiding away.
I think Jayshankar's tenure as EAM would be case study for many generation.
