As someone new to Logic, learning the program, your tutorials are super helpful Charles. :) I've gone through a few of yours so far now. Thanks so much for sharing!
This was very helpful and clear! As an acoustic instrumentalist i've been experimenting with using effects on my horns and have hit a wall, i think i can move on now!
Hey Charles , I hope are well ...just wanted to say your Logic Pro videos are soooooo helpful . I am a sax player kinda just starting out in Logic Pro but feel I have progressed a lot from your videos .Thanks so much ! I
Nice one! Really appreciate your generosity and skill. Next question - are you looking into Sound Healing using the voice, because yours has all the qualities and you seem to have the temperament. Chloe Goodchild is a good starting point, or Wayne Perry's book 'Sound Medicine' - just a thought... :)
Might be helpful to talk about best practices of automation. My understanding is that a lot of folks use the Gain plugin to automate volumes, instead of the master fader, because that makes it easier to use the fader to balance an already-automated track. Do you use this method?
Yes, I use this method as well. You’re definitely right in saying that. I think it’s situational. Sometimes I’ll use the volume automation for tracks I know I won’t need to change much or if it’s something quick.
Is there a way to make the dB for precise? I find that when I drag the dots, they won't always land on the dB I want. For example, I might want my chorus on the master track to be 1.0db and the verses to be 0.0dB. The dots tend to always land at .9dB or -.1dB rather than 1.0 or 0.0. Is there a way to type these values in?
Thanks charles for the info, I have one more question: when I record strings, can I use automation to change the expression directly with a pedal instead of a fader? (expression of modulation of ....) thank you
thanks, I can not get the automation to stay. AS I am doing the laugh or touch it woks. Then I change it back to read and play it and it dose not do it. Any suggestion as to what I might be missing?
thanks for the info, just wondering is there a way to control different automation parameters in different layers of inst. in logic pro ? for ex as you are arranging also record different automations with different layers at once?
Is there a way to automate switching between live instruments? Like if I want to record a live set and switch between guitar and keyboard, can I automate the live track switching?
Why are the nodes so difficult to add. I click on the line and nothing happens, so I have to click, and click, and click. Is there a keyboard shortcut to produce one?
hey ed, yes, that's a good rule of thumb. Whenever something feels so 'difficult' to add, there is always a way to do it faster in Logic Pro. Always. With automation, it's by using the marque tool. Draw a rectangle on your track and it will create 2 points for you. Move that line up or down it will auto create 2 more points for you .

Solid! Respect!!!
so a little new here did you say there are plugins that are easier than this and do all this automation for you?
Thanx! Is it better to use a mouse when you automate? I have problems with automation and I use the touchpad of my MacBookPro.
It's completely a personal choice. I use both the mouse and a midi controller some times.

Yes you can create key commands for Thai
@@CharlesCleyn thank you so much! I'd love to see a tutorial on that!

@@CharlesCleyn thanks. I'll definitely give that a try.
Is there a way to do this with tempo?
100%
and any references?
Please, use a Mouth De-Clicker for your voice!!!
Stick on beard?

This is really really helpful! Thanks!
You're very welcome Diana. Thanks for stopping by.
