Basf is some of the best stuff I sprayed. When I was in trade school we were shooting Diamont and I sprayed some Glasurit and the shine was second to none. RM also makes an identical UV primer, I used it 10+ years ago and it blew me away.
That primer is wild! Tried it some years ago and it's definitely strange to spray but still see through it. It will also cure even if it's 30° but sunny. When i was at the BASF facility, they demonstrated a UV cured clear coat. He sprayed a test panel and the color was a light shade of Mountain Dew. Gave it a quick flash the hit it with the light. Within about 5 or 10 minutes he smacked it with a hammer. They were supposed to be tweaking it to make it more production friendly because it dried so hard, you couldn't buff it. Harley was itching to get their hands on it. Not sure whatever came of it.
Great video Kandy Man, I think the UV products will be the future for production and smart repair work especially when they get the UV clear sorted it will make the jobs roll out very quickly👌 Being a hobby/diy painter I don't use a lot of UV primer but I do like the UV putty as it has a 10second cure time even with the Mipa lamp I use and it's easy to sand👏🙏👍John UK
We use uv on the medium to small repairs that you want to paint the same day or the next morning for larger repairs or some thing with a lot off nooks and cranny's we use a airdry 2k primer 5 to 10 minutes with a infra red light and its fully cured we also have 2 different shades of uv light grey and dark grey we use lesonal , its the same as sikkens
We use the Standox UV primer on almost everything now. Although we have the large light. It’s a fantastic product! No sinking or contour mapping at all. It’s definitely a superior product over 2k primer when used properly
The Devilbiss gun is one of the best deals on these uv guns . Good price, I’ve started using the axalta uv fast but man it’s pricey , been seeing a lot of Mobil guys liking the uv products
We use UV primer in our shop for long time. Usually we do 2 light coats instead of one. But the first coat shouldn’t be cured by holding UV light for long time. Anyway after all these long years, we still dont trust to use it high end cars. Also we keep a separate gun with black paint cup liner for UV primer to avoid sun light. Easy to work with though.
I don’t understand why if it’s a high end car or not. It either works or it dosent expensive car, cheap car shouldn’t matter. Anyways I use the Standox UV with the big light on almost everything. It’s great!

I have been spraying glasurit 55 line and also 90 line which is water base ,i have been painting for about 24 years now. we use the same UV primer you are using, i was told by are rep to use etch primer on any bare metals, then apply the UV primer! Other wise keep up the good work.
Ever have any issues on plastic repair where the primer lifts ? Bubbles? Had a few do this at our crash shop just wondering if anyone else had same issue?
Forget those wimpy lights!! Tell the boss you need a UV Fastlane 2k! It’s about 20,000$ but we have had ours for probably 7 years now and it’s the best 20k ever spent.. we use UV on every repair along with the UV chip filler!

Axalta is working on revamping the uv primers
So that it don't take that light and we can use something smaller and more convenient

Awesome. 3M makes a black liner made for UV primer. You can keep it in the liner without wory of it hardening.

Have used 4 or 5 different makes of uv primer and they all suffer with adhesion especially on plastic or flexible parts
My uncles shop still uses glasruit 55 and they don’t have uv primer.
