I just got a set of the aluminum casted shin pads for my spikes. Can hardly wait to try them, I was using the buck strap pads or wat ever before and by the sounds of it from wat I had before to wat I gonna try i made the right choice upgrading my pads

I think the buckingham's you bought have hybrid gaffs 2 1/4". I don't think they are pole gaffs 1 3/4". Can you verify this by measuring them? I'm looking to buy some. I use pole gaffs now and slip around a bit, and never used trees gaffs that I liked.

I've tried those pads you like, I think they're nicknamed "Cadillac" but don't remember loving them... I was also sort of a newbie at the time though.
Recently at work we were provided with spur pads that are on like a 30° angle. They're the classic looking leather and cushion padding with leather straps but the angle just makes it sit perfectly on my legs.
I'm mostly a prune climber though, only on spikes like 4-8 hours a month. I can imagine my expectation would be very different if I was on spurs 40 hours a week

Found the Buckingham steel online at WesSpur. They come with an option between regular and narrow pads. Maybe a stupid question, but how exactly do those differ from each other?

If you are the skinny legs side go with narrow pads, otherwise get regular pads.

💥 Hey man. Great video. Any link on your favorite pick of the bunch.? 🤟🏼 And… Do you only climb trees that you are cutting down or do you climb trees that you are just trimming and doing dead wooding? Does it kill the tree.?

Any links to complete the setup for the last/best spikes? Can you buy them as you show them in the video or do you have to get the pads seperately? thanks

    • @KennysTreeRemoval
      @KennysTreeRemoval  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes they come in a set with the pads

@@KennysTreeRemoval Thanks... I found them on a few sites... Im in Canada and I can order them locally as well... the store here has the geckos and these but only with the classic leather L or T pads, cant remember which... The store is Vermeer and they have an affinity for notch stuff so thats what they have in stock mostly

I love them, this is why I always say what works for someone might not work for you. Best to try it yourself and find out. Thanks for watching bud.

I have some of the bashlin ones that you said are uncomfortable. I'm pretty new to climbing. Thought I was just a wimp lol. They hurt! Man do they hurt!!
Westech sells aluminum "cadillac pads" that fit 'em but I'm leaning towards the steel buckingham ones. Thanks for the video!

    • @erickdoody1194

It all depends on the pads you put on them

    • @metzgerbass

I second this, some big buck velcro pads on a pair of bashlin climbers is plenty comfy

Well, I haven't seen any gaffs that are different and they are all the same be they aluminum or steel or Titanium so... yes. EDIT: I am sure there is some dimension different so ask the guys you are buying them from. This is still a business where a phone number means something and they will respond if not that then a direct email will get you a knowledgable response.
