My EdgeRouter X running 2.0.9 firmware seems to support CHAP as well as PAP. Also I set the MTU of the PPPoE interface to 1530 so that the MTU of the PPPoE link can be 1500 rather than 1492.
How to port forward or open port. for this setup as the ISP directly assign the public ip . In order to port forward no local IP is assigned and we cant open port in ISP device and suggestion is bridged mode. I was able to do with normal wifi router but not with edge router

I'm sitting for the third day, and I still can't open the ports... Anyone have a hammer? AIR Port Extreme, works like charm. EDIT: In port forwarding, change WAN to pppoe from eth0 - and works!!! Wrrrr, tested this before. I don't know anymore. But now it works.

Is there any way to reconfigure it to accept both CHAP and PAP?

Does my existing isp modem/router need to be be put into bridge mode to use edgerouter lite as router?
Yes, the Edgerouter cannot perform modem functions
