Randomly found this video, going to do this on my 03 Explorer today, but I gotta say, this guy reminds me of the "Bob Ross" of mechanics, surprised he didn't say "Happy little wrench" or something. 😃

I have idling problem, and EGR valve is rusted in place, guessing that and my IAC are related since these are OEM and the car is over 20 years old.

I replaced the EGR Valve (and gasket of course), but didn't know that the EGR Valve ports (passages) should be cleaned, so I need to do it now. The car idles high on start. Did you disconnect the battery to do this work?
Thank you for the very informative film, especially that part what brushes to use to clean ports and what to spray inside. Can it be any Carb Cleaner? I have CRC Throttle Body & Air-Intake Cleaner, WD-40 Carb/Throttle Body & parts Cleaner, and and Gumout Carb/Choke & parts Cleaner (on Gumout is says: "not recommended for fuel injected vehicles"). Not sure which one to use. The car is 2001 Saturn SL2, it has fuel injectors of course. But if you have Carburator it is not fuel injected vehicle (I believe those mostly motorcycles, aircrafts, and some diesel cars).

Why not pull the entire pipe that runs from the egr to the manifold? It’s easier to clean that pipe like that. It also leaves you in a position to put anti-seize so that thing will always come off easily. I always remove as many components as I can to clean them.

    Great video,
My 89bpontiac firebird ASM test results were high at 15 mph and at 25 mph and fail smog, do you think doing that may help passing the smog?

Good content, but Its such a PIA to get off, just replace it. Its like $80. $80 might be a lot for some peeps, but new cars are like $35k and more.... Its nothing to spend an afternoon and $80 on a part to avoid having to buy a new car.

iNFORMATIVE BUT i SEE MORE Of the front of the car than staying with closeup shots of what you're working on. Camera work sucks.
