You forgot to mention that the etron q7 also comes with a heat pump climate system, not only does it help save range compared to the Mitsubishi it more importantly warms the cab quicker getting to desired temp in under 2m unlike the conventional which is dependant on engine temp
Yeah, I don't understand why they don't take the 'no need for exhausts sticking out of the rear' as an opportunity to design something cool and different instead of just slapping that ugly plastic crap...
Thing is, it doesn't look good (in my opinion) If it's a fake righ/left exhaust to give the car a symmetrical look it's okay. If it wraps around the real one(s) to make them look bigger, depending on how they do it, it doesn't look so bad either... But something like the new A6 and the SQ5 the other guy mentioned.. That just looks bad
Im driving this Q7 E-tron over a year now. Before ive tested also RR and XC90 Hybrid. Audi have much better suspension. It can drive approx 40km in electric mode (Volvo only 3-4km). I like it. I had some small issues with Android Auto but generaly its a good car. Very comfortable and really fast. When i drive in city, i can go full electric for 35-40km, when i'm on the highway i have over 300HP available. Interiors are made very well. I would claim only customer support: Audi seems to do not care at all about Q7 e-tron owners. Even if both sides: Audi and car owners know excactly that they paid a lot for this new tecnology. P.S. Sometime Audi safety system make jokes braking when on reverse gear. Once it breaked hard in a highway. It was little scary. But for over 20k km done until now, its not a big issue. BR
I suppose if you drive a lot of short journeys, have a big family and charge it every day, then it would make quite a lot of sense. And if you have a reasonably long commute and can charge at work, that would be great. But I’m not convinced most people who buy it fit that description.
The hybrid part of this car (and any of the luxury SUV's: Cayenne, XC90, X5 etc.) aren't supposed to make any sense from an environmental point. They solely exist as a reaction on the co2 taxation policies in certain European countries (Belgium, Netherlands etc.).For example, here in Belgium running the e-tron which starts at around a 20k premium is actually cheaper to run for 5 years than the normal diesel version would be even if you'd never charge the damn thing.
Diesel electrics sound like a dream. So much low end torque and great gas mileage. I would gladly spend $2k more for your typical hybrid if it had a diesel engine. Would probably get better mpg too. I don’t understand the arguments against them.
A hybrid makes sense only in urban driving, which is generally short runs. A diesel makes sense only in a car that does long trips and if the owner doesn't mind the tractor-like sound and poisoning everyone around them. A diesel hybrid is almost an oxymoron.
Greenhouse gases (i.e. CO2) are not a health risk, CO health impacts are negligible ever since catalytic converters became a thing. It's NOx that's killing people, as well as PM (which DI petrol also needs to deal with). So no, diesel is not "cleaner". Only those brainwashed by VAG could think so. And you're addressing only one point of the three I made.
AoyagiWell the car can be used for both purposes...short as well as highway runs...I don’t see a problem it being a diesel...If I do misunderstand something, feel free to correct.
A lot of money for a car that can only do 30 miles on electric power it’s time all the main car companies bought into the electric future it seems their dipping their toes instead of fully committing to it .......
Not really sure i get why they put the 258HP engine in there, when the Q5 comes with the 286... Obviously the electric engine has to give a significant boost, but i'd be disappointing getting a smaller engine than a Q5 does...
It is not a question of "your lifestyle" that will make you choose Diesel or Hybrid or whatever. It is actually the harsh reality where your Diesel (and following after that Super)-fueled vehicle is going to be banned in towns. Consider the second-hand value of your fancy Q7 Diesel car in 4 to 5 years when no-one is interested anymore.
Is this where Hybrids are gonna kick off from? as a means of justifying making terribly un-necessary, oversized SUV's? for god's sake's it could be put to better use in estate car's, or why not couple it with better material design to make the car's lighter and therefore more economical? It's just mad.
Sully Sullivan ha! Are you serious?! The X5 hasn't been redesigned in years. The interior is way more modern than any of its rivals. The only car that looks better is the XC90 only.
Let's sum this up: because of dieselgate, a lot of European countries will ban diesels from city centers. Audi's solution? Hybrid SUV powered by... diesel engine :D What crack are they on?
In my opinion, worst looking SUV in production today. I'd go for a RR Hybrid, even if it's petrol: more class, better interior and better off road capabilities. Also the XC90 could be an alternative. Completely dislike this hybrid elephant.
You forgot to mention that the etron q7 also comes with a heat pump climate system, not only does it help save range compared to the Mitsubishi it more importantly warms the cab quicker getting to desired temp in under 2m unlike the conventional which is dependant on engine temp
At 6:22, why does he sound surprised that this car with its 600nm of torque has more torque than an A3 2.0 TDI? Of course it would, surely?
It's not just that. The review reveals a lot of its flaws the more you get used to the behavior of plug-ins.
He's got that figure wrong too it's 700nm of torque not 600
In which case it has double what a 2.0 TDI has
Listen carefully. He is talking about the power of the electric motor alone.
D S I'm sure that's what me meant - but it isn't what he said
Well, at least there's no fake exhausts, right?
When mercedes will start making EVs they're still going to throw the fakest crap back there
Agreed. Shame that the new audi A6 has fake exhausts aswell...
Yeah, I don't understand why they don't take the 'no need for exhausts sticking out of the rear' as an opportunity to design something cool and different instead of just slapping that ugly plastic crap...
Mx Jonson if it looks good who actually cares?
Go look at the new SQ5, it doesnt get any worse than that
Thing is, it doesn't look good (in my opinion)
If it's a fake righ/left exhaust to give the car a symmetrical look it's okay. If it wraps around the real one(s) to make them look bigger, depending on how they do it, it doesn't look so bad either...
But something like the new A6 and the SQ5 the other guy mentioned.. That just looks bad
I think that the q7 is very good looking when I saw it next to me I loved it so much is very different from see it on monitor
Yes, a sensible comment at last.
Not particularly blessed in the looks department??? I freaking love the look of it lol.
Mmm just a question why did you copy everything from Matt of carwow.
The description is wrong. It's diesel not petrol

They said that u cant charg the battery with engine?
@@inmorthex yes. Its correct. After 5 years and 130k km max ev range goes down to 30km
The front looks soo much better with these bumper led
Jun need bigger wheels and it will be perfect

Chris Till an suv Will Never make sence!
It's diesel, so it doesn't quite make a lot of sense for short trips.... A diesel hybrid is an oxymoron.
HSV Commodore True, I just wanted to be diplomatic and not mention how much I hate SUVs.
I don't think there is a public road in the UK where a hatchback would scrape because of deep potholes or tall speed bumps...
The hybrid part of this car (and any of the luxury SUV's: Cayenne, XC90, X5 etc.) aren't supposed to make any sense from an environmental point. 46mpg means you didn't charge it - again!
What colour is this car ? Samurai Grey ?
This guy does the best reviews.
Boëthius M you mean Mat Watson?
Rafael Carpy Fanboy! “Oooh mats the best” idiot
James you mention this is no handler due to the additional weight. Is it worse than the BMW X5 hybrid or Volvo XC90 T8?
do these cars not recharge themselves while running on fuel
Great review as usual thanks
i think it looks good
It'll have a pure electric range of 32 miles.
Diesel electrics sound like a dream. So much low end torque and great gas mileage. I would gladly spend $2k more for your typical hybrid if it had a diesel engine. Would probably get better mpg too. I don’t understand the arguments against them.
Nor do I. Plug in diesel hybrids is the answer.
6:18 what a bizarre comparison, understandable if it was against exotica from Ferrari et al, but a far cheaper bog standard A3?
Stuart Price I agree, very odd. Why would it be surprising that a 3.0L TDI plus an electric motor have more torque than a 2.0 TDI?
pay so much extra for a hybrid and the fuel economy is the same as just diesel?
A diesel hybrid? Will VAG never learn?
Aoyagi what do you mean?
A hybrid makes sense only in urban driving, which is generally short runs. A diesel makes sense only in a car that does long trips and if the owner doesn't mind the tractor-like sound and poisoning everyone around them. A diesel hybrid is almost an oxymoron.
Aoyagi what do you talking about? Diesel is cleaner than petrol (less greenhouse gases, less carbon monoxide)
LETTING TESLA DO ALL THE HEAVY LIFTING.
this is not a full electric vehicle. its a hybrid
The wheels are to small I’d go for 20 inch alloy wheels
Not really sure i get why they put the 258HP engine in there, when the Q5 comes with the 286...
Obviously the electric engine has to give a significant boost, but i'd be disappointing getting a smaller engine than a Q5 does...
Might think about getting this Q7 before getting the SQ7...maybe?
Its just a regular hybrid 5 seater SUV without the 2 extra seats...ill wait for the new Volvo XC90 PHEV with a better infotainment system.
Great review as always.
The door bins pass the Carzma Big Bottle Test!
Audi q7s ARE blessed with good looks
Lol its got the design aesthetics of a piece of a bread
You said it! Goodbye Toyota Landcruiser!
Can you please the new DS7 crossback
Inside and it is identical to the usual Q7!
There are couple of cupholders.
When specked correctly the q7 is a handsome brute but sadly the test car isn’t very well specked (aesthetically)
Um, I'm really sorry but I have to correct you..it's 'specced'. Specked is a derivative of 'speckled'.
It has the Virtaul Cockpit.
It is not a question of "your lifestyle" that will make you choose Diesel or Hybrid or whatever. There is the Audi PHONE BOX which boosts the signal on your phone.
It has an electricity display.
what about tesla model x?
Audi have lost me with their interior design...
i want this
5 seats ? UTTERLY POINTLESS !
Won't be getting another one of these then
NO POTATO CHIPS IN THE GLOVE BOX?
Why am I watching this on the toilet?
I'd rather have a pure EV instead of hybrid, but if I would go for a hybrid, Volvo is best.
I mean, you don't get that in a diesel powered car because why would you?
I'll stick to the standard 3.0 TDI thank you
James delivers, period!
Klasse Act what does he deliver? Rohipnol via dementor?
I think it has a 3L petrol not diesel engine like you said in the beginning. Tks
you cant do short journeys in a diesel it buggers the engine up
Just me or is this Tiff Niddel?
You need a new sound guy.
Green?! A Hybrid TDI can’t be green... Greener? Maybe
What’s the WLTP rated fuel economy and not the “Monkey killing “ lies Audi tell you?
There is so many inaccuracies in this review. Awful really
This is the most expensive shed in existence! 🤪
The glovebox is big.
Confuse by his conclusion......to get Volvo if u want practicality?
Because this eats in to the boot space of the Audi I believe, the XC90 T8 Hybrid is the same size whether Diesel, Petrol or Petrol Hybrid
And comes with 7 seats.....
If you want a sofa powered by a Hexbug engine get the Volvo..
Well the Q7 E Tron has around 370bhp, whereas the Volvo has just over 400bhp, so who's got the Hexbug engine now ;)
Claimed 156.9MPG to actual 42MPG. That is bit odd. Is it a mistake or gimmick?
Is this where Hybrids are gonna kick off from? as a means of justifying making terribly un-necessary, oversized SUV's? for god's sake's it could be put to better use in estate car's, or why not couple it with better material design to make the car's lighter and therefore more economical? Great review ...way too expensive.
James back lol
Interior and exterior looks dated compared to rivals.
Sully Sullivan ha! Are you serious?! The X5 hasn't been redesigned in years. The interior is way more modern than any of its rivals. The only car that looks better is the XC90 only.
Sully Sullivan so are you.
Sully dont talk rubbish
Sully Sullivan : You should take that comedy act of yours on the road mate.
There is a little slot for something else.
I am SOOO tired of VW and audi cars, i wish i could work on nissan or (better) tesla models
Just found this 4 you
I prefer mat Watson
Liam Stacey He is a joke and actually don’t know that much about cars...
Liam Stacey blah blah blah
The guy moved to carwow a long time ago. God, you people are like that creepy ex who refused to move on.
Sherukka your a joke.
HE DOES HAVE THOSE CUTE FRECKLES, BUT HE'S TOO MUCH OF A CLOWN.
Fake carwow lol
THIS CAR IS NOT A SUV.
IS VERY SHORT
Range Rover SDV6 Hybrid is much better then this. Over 700nm of torque 😁. Can't believe this Q7 cant even assist charging the batteries !!! No thanks.
That's about the ugliest tailgate I've ever seen.
Boring and dull
Don't be so heard on yourself!
Stick to what you like, man. Not everyone can be like you.
After you said 32 miles I stopped the video.
Let's sum this up: because of dieselgate, a lot of European countries will ban diesels from city centers.
Audi's solution? Hybrid SUV powered by... diesel engine :D
What crack are they on?
Build to last?? An AUDI?? Dont make me laugh 🤣🤣🤣
I'm sorry but this Audi has an very ugly old design.
In my opinion, worst looking SUV in production today. I'd go for a RR Hybrid, even if it's petrol: more class, better interior and better off road capabilities. Also the XC90 could be an alternative. Completely dislike this hybrid elephant.
Your opinion is your own, but RR is unreliable and the interior is certainly not better my friend. Off road it has it, though.
Susan D didn't know RR was unreliable.
All land rovers are notoriously unreliable. Consistently come bottom in reliability surveys.
Still sitting far too close to the airbag! James please rethink your driving position, it worries me.
Cougarsamurai it’s called natural selection...
