      I typically throw 1/2 ounce poison head jigs with some sort of craw trailer. Poison head jigs come through this thick stalk grass very well. Very similar to a swim jig. I like to pitch it in the “nervous grass” is what we call it here in Kentucky. When the bass show themselves we say the grass looks nervous 😂

    I love these videos! To answer your question. I live in Northern Minnesota and I really like the berkley toad with that kind of grass and pencil reeds. White with a sunny day and black when cloudy. I go to the swim jig as a followup or if the toad doesn't work. Watching your mind work is awesome!

    Edwin, sorry I'm late responding to your video on fishing grass. I have a couple questions. I noticed in the video your swim jig had a brush guard on it. Do you usually use a brush guard on your swim jigs? When you are not swimming it fast do the bass bite it more often when it is falling?🐟🎣

    • @EdwinEversfishing
      @EdwinEversfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I usually I always use a brush guard on my jigs. I think the brush guard acts as a keel to keep the hook up right.
      As far as killing the jig, yes that’s a great technique especially around stumps or holes in the grass or when water is colder or they are not chasing as much. Thanks a bunch for watching Mike.

    What brand reel and swim bait are you using? Up here in MN mainly straight retrieve with something like a rage tail with lots of action works great.

  • @DSartors
    @DSartors 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's a technique I have used the last few years here in Oklahoma with success. On the really windy days I even drag a spinner bait through the water willows and they key on it pretty good.

    • @EdwinEversfishing
      @EdwinEversfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A spinnerbait is another great option I didn’t mention on those windy days! It’s amazing to me how finicky those Bass can be in those water willows at times.

    • @DSartors
      @DSartors 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EdwinEversfishing yes it is. It initially felt very strange dragging a spinnerbait through the center of the thickest grass but it would drag through right above the surface and the blades would splashing and clanking off of one anouther. Don't recall a complete miss. Although I did have a small trailer hook that would see occasional service. This year it has been the most consistent. There always seems to be bass in the willowgrass everyday. all day

    I haven’t caught any specifically with a swim jig, but have had limited success with a chatterbait along those type of grass edges. Had more success with a worm or senko and sometimes I will burn a lipless crank along or through the thinner sections.
