When my wife and I were first dating, she was looking through my movie library and found this. She asked about it and I told her what it was about. She decided to watch it and took it home with her. The next day she asked to watch it with me and we watched it together. That was 9 years ago and she still digs it out once a year to watch with me.
This comment is a bit like the comments you see under music videos, someone's always died in a car wreck or some pile of crap and this is their song, this is like a positive version of that
This scene was very well done by the earlier sparring session between the two. It underscores the skill and intelligence he posses by limiting his ability to evaluate his opponent. The level difference between them was so vast the enemy didn't even realize it. Very impressive.
That was the point. He said he was supposed to be able to tell what Preston was thinking and yet he was very wrong. Preston was 2 steps ahead the entire time.
The argument is that the other guys were on the drug and didnt feel. Not very strong argument but dupont was grasping at straws. Maybe he was hoping for a trial or a prison sentence.
"Now that you know it - can you really take it? Is it really worth the price?" "...dude sorry but I didn't hear a word you just said, I mean, you fired a gun next to my ear like seven times just now." "Excuse me what-" *gets shot*
I had a few issues with the actual fight but I love the concept and i love the movie. But the actual gun-tana of that fight could have been done different and better imo
I die every time I see this flat untouched face on the floor at 2:37. It doesn't look like being brutally cut from human body, more like halloween mask or smth😂
Well, it is explained in the movie before that those "cleric" fighters are trained to deal with firearms based on rigorous knowledge of statistical chances of the bullet trajectories (that came out of analysis of the many firefights) in the firefight. They call it "gun kata" or alike. They say that firefight is not random but predictable. So accept artistic license and his choice makes sense. He probably feels more confident to take swordfight than gunfight as they trained together. Btw., shortly before he passed through narrow corridor full of special force agents with assault rifle being armed only with pistols and he killed them all without scratch (his suit is intact as you see). One more reason to not to choose guns. What is ridiculous - they are about to kill someone they well know is either the best or the 2nd best (to leader behind the table) warrior in their world - yet they encircle him with weapons sheathed. Thus they increased his chances by giving him extra time that is necessary to draw the sword before they would be able to strike. They would have hard time even if they approached him with swords ready to strike (not just drawn)
@@mungo7136 In a previous scene in the movie Preston is trying to hide the fact that he was off the drugs from Brandt during a sword sparring session. Preston was so off his game trying to cope with his new feelings that Brandt toyed with him the entire time. *This time* he's finally learned to control and channel his emotions, which just demonstrates that Brandt was seriously out of his league the entire time.
@@r.l.royalljr.3905you are right. Brandt thought Preston was weaker than him based on the experience from their sparring. And lost his face very quickly. 😂
After the godfather reveals that he lives, breathes, and feels, it only confirmed my suspicion that everyone in the city is actually a sense-abuser in secret, even the leader. Each individual abuses their senses in private, while pretending to be in compliance in public.
I think Preston and Dupont were the only clerics that mastered the Gun Kata at it's full pontetial. Maybe Sean Bean's character as well. Brandt, the swordsmen and the black coated sweeper were quicker than ordinary humans, but not as quick as Preston.
The only thing wrong with the ending of this really good film was at the end he wastes countless soldiers and the henchman. But he seemed on equal par with the chubby boss at the end 🤣🤣🤣
Cool dystopian movie that turned out opposite to how the World is today. Those in charge are emotional and easily triggered while in the film they're like robots. They got the part about forcing us to medicate correct though.
That proves exactly why this world formed in the first place, from excessive feelings from incompatency forethought emotion that resulted in its destruction, in effect a prologue
And now everybody got to know why a short distance in gunfights does not make any sense! If the gun holder is too close the advantage of a gun diminishes!
Angus Macfadyen can do no wrong. I like to think that Dupont and Komodo are the same person, and that after the end of Warriors of Virtue, Komodo's memories and powers eventually return and he sculpts the world into what we see here.
Wait, Taye Diggs had guns, and even though the Christian Bale character easily killed all those guy, Taye just said "I must be better than him' and tried his luck?
He assumed he was better than Bale the whole movie. I'm not sure why because Bale was easily wiping out whole rooms full of heavily armed men from the jump.
They sparred earlier in the film. When they sparred, they were on equal level. I don't know why they changed the level of their skillsets during this fight sequence. I was expecting more from it. It was a bit of a letdown.
@@TheLegendaryFolklore It was a letdown. I always assumed Bale was either going easy on him or the fact that he was in 3rd act hero mode made him basically invincible lol.
While he was there at that internment camp during wwii in Japanese occupied Manchuria as a child, Patrick Bateman learned the way of the sword by a Japanese military officer who was in charge of the place.
Impressive. Very nice. Now, let's see Paul Allen's fighting skills...
*drops the phone*
Is that a watermark?
Oh no!
The tasteful thickness of it...
You ok Patrick? You're sweating
The entire sequence, from when he gets polygraphed right up to this point is one of the master scenes in action cinema. Very impressive.
Not without incident.
Yes impressive, very nice, now lets see Paul Allen’s entire sequence…
Lmfao maybe if you've never seen a movie before. Or you're 11 years old
Them trying to smack each other with their guns is absolutely laughable!
Eh, everything after the hallway was kinda trash

Ur lucky she’s still with you. Christian Bale can steal any man’s woman. lol
Damn dude thats nice

So true. When they first fought in that practice room Preston only used one hand.
"You just killed a small army to get to me, you wouldn't kill me though, right?" Amazin' lol
The argument is that the other guys were on the drug and didnt feel. Not very strong argument but dupont was grasping at straws. Maybe he was hoping for a trial or a prison sentence.
If you fall out of a tall building, you may as well flap your arms. ;)
I love the look on that guy's face after Preston kills his whole goon squad. That's the best 'Oh shit, I'm fucked' face ever.
0:19 _this_ look?
Oh I'm not sure about that lol. Have you ever seen the turkish guy on the train in the Equalizer? ;~) Now that was a funny moment
The fact the amateur cleric thought he stood a chance in his effeminate pose was comical.
He wasn't wrong - he wore the uniform for the rest of his life.
Yeah but that wasn't a very long time lol
And not one hole.
He didn't say he was going to wear it for the rest of his life
He wore it for the rest... aw man, you beat me to it!
Lol. Slice!

Some people never heard of Equilibrium. Thank God us die hards appreciate quality action, sci-fi films👍
I was super late getting a DVD player back in the day but this was the first DVD I bought when I did.
Love the push fu at the end with the guns. Bale never fails. Legend.
2:37
Old mates face, laying on the floor, still wondering wtf happened
Wow, first time I've seen this. It looks like he got flattened by the steamroller from Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Bruhhhhh
I would have kept the face as a souvenir.
I plan to be wearing it for a long time, sword swinging sounds, face falls off. Pistol sword fight. Fuck I love this movie.
EARLY CHRISTIAN BALE!!!!
The action sequence of the last boss fight is like watching Liam Neeson jump over a fence.
Hahahahahhaha
Right? xD
"seriously tho. Its like....14 camera angle or something" lmfao
Ra's-Al-Ghul taught him well.
Preston walked so John Wick could run.
The point I think we’re all missing from this is one man can make a difference
I actually really enjoyed the whole pistol-moving fight at the end. Just a really cool idea.
I had a few issues with the actual fight but I love the concept and i love the movie. But the actual gun-tana of that fight could have been done different and better imo
I did too, as long as I try not to think about the realism :D
Gun Kata
Now that's a face-off!
Aayyyyeeeee.......
The kills are so clean that the sword doesn't even have blood
... until 1:06.
Nor does his pristine white suit... *rolls eyes*
All that for a drop of blood
@@tedytarrify tru😂 i remember kill bill fight scenes ahehehe
The John Wick before John Wick. Great movie and underated.
Talk about "losing face in front of your boss."
he finally learned to do whats necessary
Such a good movie. So underrated.
2:37 Clerics sliced face put on printer paper and glued to floor hahaha
This was a fun movie but those were some of the dumbest bad guys I've ever seen
Why
When you drug the population into apathy you can get away with being morons because no one cares.
Maybe they will. It's not like they stopped lying. Why do you think that after 3rd booster it stops?
I die every time I see this flat untouched face on the floor at 2:37. It doesn't look like being brutally cut from human body, more like halloween mask or smth😂
Yeah they blew that one
One the most underrated Movies I know.
This guy has 2 guns on him but challenged batman with a sword after watching him take out 6 dudes :(if you are cocky you will lose face in the end;)

Cause he won in their sword sparring. Bale being a class a cleric knows he has a better chance in a sword fight.... but still got out classed anyway.

They'd be deaf from gun shots that close to the ear but I still love the shit out of it.
2:37 lmao the face on the floor
The music when Brandt's face slides down is perfect. It's the same one they used in the awakening scene.
Gunkata!
The most formidable of martial arts.
this movie is so hardcore that it kills Sean Bean in the first ten minutes 🤣
2:30 Thought you got me there for a second, didnt'ya you little punk?
FIRES

It’s very plausible that this film as a whole is what cemented the decision to make Bale Batman
Very very beautiful film 🙏😍🎥🎞🙏

This must be the final stage of Dorsia
That movie was so fucking awesome. Never got the credit it deserves.
This is where he walks away from being an American Psycho to becoming....Batman.
Best thing was seeing the guys Sliced face pasted on the floor like a texture skin
He fought so much better here than Batman
Be deaf and disoriented as hell with just one of those next to ear discharges
Bad guy: I feel, just like you
Bale: Ohhhh, good for you!!!!
BLAMMO!
Never understood why he thought that made him special when he literally destroyed Bale's life for doing it. 😂

The way he trolled the polygraph is funny and ohh shit moment to his enemies

Such an underrated gem!
It's cool seeing a future where humans have evolved to not have blood
No splatters of blood on his white suit😁
Aye, and my son has a French fry with a dab of tomato sauce and covers his school shirt 🤣
My favourite movie 😊😊😎😎😎💪🏻💪🏻👍👍👍👍
No movie made gun fights more ridiculously fun then this one.
A large caliber pistol going off right next to a persons ear would deafen them and reduce their capabilities effective hand to hand combat.
Not if you're a real MAN!
Not in the movies.
He can shut down On and Off his emotions and his feelings as seen when he took the polygraph test. Thats makes him very scary.
Super ear durability
EEEEEEEEE WHAT? DID YOU SAY SOMETHING?
0:36 The edge on that sword.

I enjoyed this scene twice - in ×0.5 speed the second time! Wow!
All of that and not a single drop of blood.... Amazing!
"Mind the uniform, cleric. I plan to be wearing it for a long time."
Yeah 5 seconds is a "long time" alright!!!!
I love this movie.
2:37 they didn’t have to do the CGI face on the floor. But they did. And we thank you.
3 palavras pra esse filme: Obra. De. Arte.
White suit and not a drop of blood on it. Amazing.
This is the reason why Batman don't wear Hockey Pads.
2:37 the guys face be still on the floor 🤣
Stuntman's face visible for Preston between 1:45-2:00. Very nice scene.
From the thumbnail, I thought we were getting a cinematic adaptation of The Nightman Cometh.
Impressive Gun-Fu!
So many blood, the Suit keeps clear 👍🏻
Dios....se me había olvidado lo mala que es ésta peli....mae mía...me he tragado cada mojón.....

It would funny if the door was locked at the last scene and he shouts at high pitch "who locksss the door?"
well made movie and interesting concept in fighting.
This is how "Bateman Begins".
It's a very very good movie, though firing guns that close to each other, then still being able to just whisper and HEAR is even cooler.
The subtle off human blood... the tasteful thickness of it cutting flesh... Oh my god, they have 0% of BAK...
maybe a sword or knife is more advantageous than a gun at point blank range. but the idea of gun-kata is really impressive as movie gadget.
LOl the face guy was so cool and when i watched first time I was waiting for long fight it ended in 2 secs.
Imagine the gun fighting sequence in a single frame..... lol
Good action movie worth the watch.
That man did the classic stance
Everybody was gunfu fighting, the guns went crack like lightning.
Great man
Who needs Scott Adkins when you got Christian Bale. Lol
love Scott but he would not have been able to do the polygraph scene or the ending before shooting the bad guy.
Fighting is so much easier when the henchmen offer themselves up for death.
This was Tight. Still holds up today.
Pistol fencing, it's gonna be a new discipline the next olympics...
Pretty intense gun-fu!
It reminds me of the poison they want us all to swallow today lol !
