    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
    Faced with the realization that he has been tricked into destroying the resistance, Preston (Christian Bale) summons all his strength to fight back.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
    A man who dares to feel finds his life in danger in this cautionary science fiction drama. In the future, after a Third World War has decimated much of the Earth's population, a new nation known as Libria rises up under the unquestioned leadership of Dupont (Angus MacFadyen). Believing human emotions and their expression were to blame for the failings of past societies, The Father has decreed that all citizens must take a daily dose of Prozia II, a drug which levels out the emotional landscape, and that all forms of creative expression are against the law; violating either regulation can be punished by death. John Preston (Christian Bale) is a Grammaton, an elite law enforcement officer who tracks down and punishes "sense offenders." One day, Preston accidentally fails to take his Prozia II, and for the first time begins experiencing emotions himself. Preston becomes aware of an underground of rebels who refuse to take their medication and have embraced art and literature, and he finds himself becoming infatuated with one of their number, Mary O'Brian (Emily Watson). Equilibrium is the second feature-length directorial effort from Kurt Wimmer, whose screenwriting credits include The Thomas Crown Affair and Sphere.

      Because it only ran for less than a month in US theaters.
      Wikipedia: "The film had an estimated production budget of $20 million. International pre-release sales had already made a profit, so the studio reduced the film's promotion and advertising budget to avoid the risk of the film losing money; as a consequence, theatrical release was limited. The film was shown in only 301 theaters at its widest release in the United States, earning $541,512 in its opening week, and only $1.2 million when it closed on December 26, 2002; the film earned $4.1 million internationally, for a total of $5.3 million worldwide."

    This movie is in the perfect spot between parody of Matrix and actually being a movie with a genuinely good storyline as well as excitingly choreographed fight scenes! If it was not for Matrix I think it would have reached much more fame. It is a very good action film as well as a good commentary on possible problematic society developments with surveillance and indoctrination that we can see many examples of in the world today. And on top of that the movie is able to not take it self to serious at the same time as it has a good drive all the way through. A true masterpiece that is unfortunately way to under appreciated.

      Yeah, but it's the tragic flaw that makes them supervillains in the first place. It's their love of power over others, and that love compels them to revel in it at every opportunity. When the hero's facing "certain" death, it's the closest thing to ecstasy that a supervillain ever feels. So they just can't help themselves.
      If they were the sort of people who would just kill the hero, and move on to their harem, they would've never been able to rise to power. They'd still be home, trying to nail some th0t.

    This scene needed a couple of flashback images of his partner, his wife, and the wife of his partner, all whom he had a key role in the deaths of. At this time, of his gaining mastery over his emotions, Preston relives the moments of murder in his memory and, taking into account that he had been used as a throw away puppet, becomes totally enraged.

    It's so cooperative of the enemies to wait their turn to shoot at him instead of firing upon him while he's taking out their buddies.

    You can hear a feint "DIE DIE DIIEEEE!" in the background

    • @Sykomyke
      @Sykomyke 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      feint; noun - a deceptive or pretended blow, thrust, or other movement, especially in boxing or fencing. feint; verb - make a deceptive or distracting movement, typically during a fight.
      BZZZT - Wrong
      What I think you were looking for was this...
      faint; adjective - (of a sight, smell, or sound) barely perceptible.
      And don't blame it as a typo. A and E aren't even next to each other.

      +shockofgoddess John Wick was very good I'm not denying that. This shootout's careful use of cuts and slow-mo and amazing choreography is what I was getting at. It's not realistic but it's not really trying to be.

      Apocalypse Films LMAO movie is good but the the matrix is a masterpiece this movie doesn't come close to the matrix level of action and story

    • @williambrady9578
      @williambrady9578 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leon S Kennedy The action sequences in the matrix always bored me, save for the chateau fight/car chase in Matrix Reloaded. The was to much of an emphasis on bullet time for me to get invested. I know it's an unpopular opinion but it's one I'll continue to defend.

      No he survived because he is a "sense offender". He can feel emotion. Because when Preston turned to him he jumped in fear. People on the prozium do not feel fear. So preston realized this and spared him.
