      @@BPCustomCreations I've saved some little bits here and there, but I'm a hesitant newbie in Gaslands making, so I can't really imagine how I'd use them.
      Would you consider doing a video showing bits you saved or found, and maybe how you think they could be used?

      @BPCustomCreations  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rallaa it's certainly a good idea for a video. I'll add it to the idea whiteboard!
      I would say it's a frame of mind. Just looks at every little chunk of metal or plastic with the mindset of "what would this shape/texture be at scale?"

    Love the slow build up of this vehicle. The grippy tires were a nice change up, gives it some character where usually you just see bog basic tires. Always a fan of rustification of any vehicle. Weathering is always my favorite part of any project. Makes things feel like they live in world and aren't just some addition thrown in. Stories can be read in each patch of rust or patched over hole.

    If you apply white glue mixed with water and coat the paper bag or even toilet paper you can get a good effect too. Also works well for rolled up tarps and stuff.

    • @earlware4322
      @earlware4322 ปีที่แล้ว

      Watered down white glue gives you the same effect on paper products as the CA glue, but with ZERO toxic fumes. As a bonus by using your heat gun (or a hair dryer) you have a little time to form the paper into whatever shape you need without glueing your fingers to the paper.

    Another enjoyable and well spent 24 minutes in BP University! Ben, I think your imagination is one of your greatest assets. Having a big box of junk (or just not throwing anything out) helps too! 😂 I bought some pastel chalks at a Dollar Store this summer with the same idea in mind. I've been shaving them with a craft knife to get my own box of weathering powders. Got a lifetime supply and rainbow of colours for a fraction of the hobby brand stuff now. This, after a failed attempt at using makeup, which turned out to be a bit oily. Living and learning. I love how your Triumph sailing rig turned out. Each of your videos is a source of information and inspiration for this hobbyist. Have a great week. Greetings from Switzerland - Andrew 🍁👊👍

      Thanks, Andrew! I always look forward to your comments 😀 I'm glad you were able to take that hobby restock trip! I feel like I'm so spoiled with the dollar stores we have here in Japan! (¥100 shops technically) you can find anything there and I think half of the items in my house probably came from one of them 🤣 I'm glad I have the opportunity and drive to make these videos and share what goes on in my head with other people in the hobby!
      Stay safe, buddy! 🤗

    Post apocalyptic car lot sign reads:
    CARS WITHOUT
    ENGINES FOR “SAIL”

  • @udorechner6846
    @udorechner6846 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very nice build, sadly you didn't make the wheels rolling... To the sails. If the cardboard toplayer is to thin why not double the edges up on both sides? Make the doubling a little bigger than needed and trim it to size when the layers are dryed completly. This will although prevent the paper from ripping of whein you install the wireloops.
    One more point. I see problems with the stability of the car. by mounting the mast offcenter The car shoul'd get an outriggerwheel to the left side!. Steering with thos drummwheels will be a challenge..

    • @BPCustomCreations
      @BPCustomCreations  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! You have some good points on the unrealistic nature of the build but I wonder how big a sail would need to be to push a car?? This thing's gotta be heavy!

    • @earlware4322
      @earlware4322 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also thought that an outrigger would work well in this situation. You could use a tiny bead as a wheel for outrigger, just have to build it out of some wire (or a paperclip).

    • @BPCustomCreations
      @BPCustomCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's up to you. I like to strip the paint to get a nice blank slate and the paint they use is often very thick and hides small details in the casting. I have a couple videos where I make cars and keep the paint on. Check out my scratch built roll cage video 👍

    How is it that people in nearly every country and area in the US can get styrene sheets at the bloody dollar stores around them? My dollar stores don't have anything 1/2 that useful.

    • @BPCustomCreations
      @BPCustomCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @earlware4322
      @earlware4322 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BPCustomCreations I have not been able to locate styrene sheets at my local dollar stores either. I started looking at the small signage (garage sale, etc.), but all that I find are very, very thin.
      As an alternative I have started collecting used/empty gift cards. They come in varying thicknesses and most have no embossed numbers (unlike credit cards) and are a great size for small scale scratchbuilding.

    • @BPCustomCreations
      @BPCustomCreations  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@earlware4322 most of the styrene I use is 0.5mm thick so it doesn't need to be thick. I pive in Japan so the dollar stores are very different here as well. I was shocked to even find it here but it's not going to be in the US.
