The calcium in plants is even less absorbable than dairy. There are studies that have shown dairy even in small amounts greatly increases bone density. Like a quart of yogurt over a week. I think that the source of the dairy makes a big difference. Dairy from Jersey or guernsey cows vs Holsteins or sheep or goat dairy. Those have A2 casein which is much less inflammatory. Fermentation also has a large impact on dairy. I disagree about exalates and other plant toxins and their impact on people’s health. Since I’ve cut out the high oxalate foods and reduced plant foods I general I’ve been able to eliminate migraines and join pain, sleep problems and low energy. Less than one percent of the toxins that our livers have to eliminate come from anything but the naturally occurring toxins in the plant foods we eat. This is a hidden but well documented fact that I found upon digging and reviewing studies. I guess because it doesn’t support agendas and food beliefs that are like religion for a lot of people based more on feelings and plausible sounding ideas than hard scientific data. A really good book on oxalate toxicity is Toxic Superfoods by Sally Norton.
Thank you. I've been eating high fat dairy since it's encouraged on keto. I'd switch to almond milk, but read almonds and almond milk encourage kidney stones due to high oxalates. Is there a safe alternative?
It's truly unlikely that almonds will be a problem in the average person. What about organic soy milk, higher in protein than almond milk. Also coconut milk is another option.
I follow a low card diet, and don't eat a lot of dairy except butter and milk in coffee. I would be wery happy to get rid of the milk I put in the coffee but I have difficulties to find a substitute for that. Soy is not and option, oat or rise milks are full of carbs, and almond milk gets curdeled in the coffee. Do you have any good solution for my coffee? Thanks
There are "creamers" on the market that use coconut milk - Califia is the company and they have several options. I agree almond isn't great. Are you sensitive to organic soy or have you "heard" it's unhealthy? If it's the latter please visit my website where you can learn the true science on that. Not my opinion, but actual fact. We were "sold a bill of goods" on soy and as long as it's organic it's very healthy. I hope that helps.
@@DrVikkiPetersen Thanks! it is indeed the health issue that i learned from Dr. Bergs videos. I have concerns about the estrogen like effect, but i am not a professional, and i will gladly read in your website :)
@@sreddie1 Hi Eddie. Yes, please do. Soy, organic, is really a great source of protein and protective against cancer, etc. Give it a look and let me know what you think. There are many sources supporting this and there continue to be the misconceptions that have been around for years. I hope this helps.
You should be getting enough calcium in your diet if it's a healthy one rich in dark green leaky veggies. Typically I find my patients are getting enough from their food.
Is this problem only on cow milk/cow cheese? Are other types ok to eat, like goat yogurt or lamb cheese? I already dropped eating any type of dietary foods, but I am curious to ask about the other types.
this seems to be all about how bad cow milk is...I thought this would about calcium and weight loss

Thank you.
We are not plants either, so the comparison between humans milk and cows milk in this video is completely unrealistic.
I've got to disagree with you. We ARE mammals that make milk for OUR young. We are not cows, we are humans. But you're correct, we're not plants.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge dr Vikki. Your videos educate a lot of people. Cheers👍
You are most welcome Cecil.

There are plenty. From soy to oat and to all kinds of nuts.
That risk is the least of your concerns if you were consuming hormone-packed dairy.

@@DrVikkiPetersen I like oat milk....almond milk increased the stones
@@KatinaLifeCoach4444 I like it too. If you're avoiding gluten just ensure the brand you use is gluten-free but otherwise enjoy!

try whipped cream and vanilla collagen is really good and nutritious
Thanks for the info Dr Vikki. Do you recommend a calcium supplement?

Thank you, Very interesting.
And you are adorable! 😁
I'm glad you enjoyed it.

It's a problem with milk of all mammals, unfortunately.
Didn't learn anything
