It really kills me how stunning these lyrics are. I wish the hadn't screwed the English production all those years ago. A direct translation is breath taking and I think would have taken sleepy American audiences by storm.
re the discussion below about Napoleon and Napoleon's page (servant/messenger) -- The grief of Napoleon's page in front of the castle in 1813 would have been due to Napoleon's defeat at Leipzig and/or the invasion of France by its enemies. Both events took place that year. He was mourning the defeat of his master.
Absolut ausgezeichnet! Ich spreche Deutsch, aber Englisch ist meine Muttersprache, und es hilft manchmal mit dem Verständnis, den Songtext auf Englisch zu sehen.
The Endless Appetite (Confession of the Vampire) [Krolock]: Well, alright, no stars tonight The moon must hide Can't bear to see my face So many moons have passed So many suns gone down Too much blood under the bridge Too many worlds turned upside down The skies were pure and the fields were green The fading summer, sixteen-seventeen The first time i ever drew blood She was such a beautiful and innocent child She never knew my soul was cursed for good I fought to overcome my thirst i thought i could But when i kissed her lips then i had no control And the furies all ran wild And when i grasped for life I always killed the things for which i yearned I wish to be a flame and reduce to ashes But i have never burned I long to fly in total freedom And yet these chains keep dragging me down I want to be an angel or the devil himself But i am nothing but a creature longing for things i can't have The preacher's daughter let me in her room In seventeen thirty-two, to love me was her doom With her silken blood i wrote a poem of love Upon her ivory skin And the bashful page of napoleon the great In eighteen hundred thirteen he stood at the gate When i recall his body i can't help but think To consume him was a sin So many victims washing on the shores An ocean of pure tears So many pleas for mercy, howls of pain Intoxicating fears I used my body just like a bandage I used their bodies just like a wound And i'll never know where they disappeared But i can see them rising up out my memories now Just like the demons rising up from a tomb! And there is no way ever to apologize Repent or make amends No release and no redemption The hunger never ends There are those who believe in science And those who believe in art There are those who believe in power and wealth Or love and matters of the heart There are those who believe in various gods In nations, and knowledge In hell and in heaven The powers of darkness The assumption of the light But i believe in just one god That of endless and insatiable Immoral and destructible And all consuming appetite There is a prediction that i now will make And i'm sure it will be right: When the next millennium finally comes The god most worshiped in this world Will be the god of appetite

@Julszcken Napoleon suffered a major defeat in 1813, in Leipzig. (Is there a castle there? Was Napoleon at that castle? I don't know.) Maybe the page was sad about the military defeat. I may be influenced by the official English version (which is necessarily a *very* free "translation") -- but I don't perceive anything about a girlfriend. I thought Krolock killed the page.

First time I hear these songs it always takes a moment to get over how some of them are just new lyrics for previous Jim Steinman songs
Omg I've listened to this about 40 times today ever since we went over the lyrics in class....I have an addiction problem with this song.
Kevin Tarte is the best Von Krolock ever! He's got the looks, the voice and the talent :)
Oh Kevin, how I love him, the best count ever. :) A very nice translation. :)

The Endless Appetite (Confession of the Vampire)
[Krolock]:
Well, alright, no stars tonight
The moon must hide
Can't bear to see my face
So many moons have passed
So many suns gone down
Too much blood under the bridge
Too many worlds turned upside down
The skies were pure and the fields were green
The fading summer, sixteen-seventeen
The first time i ever drew blood
She was such a beautiful and innocent child
She never knew my soul was cursed for good
I fought to overcome my thirst i thought i could
But when i kissed her lips then i had no control
And the furies all ran wild
And when i grasped for life
I always killed the things for which i yearned
I wish to be a flame and reduce to ashes
But i have never burned
I long to fly in total freedom
And yet these chains keep dragging me down
I want to be an angel or the devil himself
But i am nothing but a creature longing for things i can't have
The preacher's daughter let me in her room
In seventeen thirty-two, to love me was her doom
With her silken blood i wrote a poem of love
Upon her ivory skin
And the bashful page of napoleon the great
In eighteen hundred thirteen he stood at the gate
When i recall his body i can't help but think
To consume him was a sin
So many victims washing on the shores
An ocean of pure tears
So many pleas for mercy, howls of pain
Intoxicating fears
I used my body just like a bandage
I used their bodies just like a wound
And i'll never know where they disappeared
But i can see them rising up out my memories now
Just like the demons rising up from a tomb!
And there is no way ever to apologize
Repent or make amends
No release and no redemption
The hunger never ends
There are those who believe in science
And those who believe in art
There are those who believe in power and wealth
Or love and matters of the heart
There are those who believe in various gods
In nations, and knowledge
In hell and in heaven
The powers of darkness
The assumption of the light
But i believe in just one god
That of endless and insatiable
Immoral and destructible
And all consuming appetite
There is a prediction that i now will make
And i'm sure it will be right:
When the next millennium finally comes
The god most worshiped in this world
Will be the god of appetite
and this my friends is why I love vampires.

If you decided to translate the whole show this well? I would love you forever. Thank you so much!
Que figurino belíssimo! Que interpretação maravilhosa!!
Thankyou so much, I love the exact translation. :)
Amo a interpretação desse vampiro!!

I thought Krolock killed the page.
Still, that smile was mighty naughty!
And we can always dream, yes? ;)
@Mor7682 the Messenger's girlfriend. I think he kill her and the messenger war really sad about that and yeah. And this didn't broke Krolock's heart..
it means "Private Butler" :). He might killed his girlfriend.
My favorite song.
I know, I'm German anyway. But why should be the messenger that sad? Right. Because he killed his girlfriend^^
why he gotta thrust his pelvis so much
Another victim I'd say.
I dont like this version.. :( He's not as good as the other guy, whose name i cant remember.
