Not quite. Viewers wrote in to complain to CBBC because in series 1 of Sarah Jane Adventures, not one of the characters bothered to look before crossing the street. This was a tongue-in-cheek response to that, then they started looking before crossing in series 2.
Rassilon (played by Timothy Dalton) is one of the central players in Gallifrey's history. He's a figure of worship, and we see his ghost (kind of) in the 20th anniversary special. Apparently, the Time Lords figured out a way to revive him so he could lead them in the Time War.

“After all this time you’re still bone dead stupid” is one of my favorite lines in the entire show. Combined with the Master’s reaction, I laugh every time.
There is something so emotional seeing all those characters back, and how they know it's the end of their journey, except for Rose, who is about to begin her own. The "I don't want to go" quote always cut deep, as well as Wilfried pain, you can see it in his face. to answer your question about timelords, not every gallifreyan is a timelord it’s only a select group of gallifreyans. Also timelords are very isolationist and don’t usually go around the universe on their own, the doctor is kinda unique in that way, thats one of the reasons he stole the tardis he wanted to see the universe and the timelords weren’t letting him because their strict policy on not interfering with the timeline.

57:01 Some time after my Rekkai reacted to my initial comment I posted a second trying to clarify what I was getting at, but I was a bit slow. Original comment: "The Doctor still possesses the Moment. He will use it to destroy Time Lords and Daleks alike" someone on the High Council says. That's in the future from the Time Lord's perspective at this point. They are trying to prevent that. Clarification: My point is, the episode does not contradict what the Doctor previously said about Gallifrey and the Time Lords being destroyed. It just hasn't happened yet at the point in time where we see them.
I imagine people have already tried to explain this, it’s all up to interpretation because it’s vague but the way I see it is the Time War and all of Galifrey’s history was behind the ‘time lock’ - so they were able to put that drum beat in the Master’s head when has was a kid as he was on Galifrey
I can see how Mickey and Martha would ‘get’ each other. Both their lives changed because of the Doctor. I can imagine it would be hard to live with someone who didn’t go through what they’d been through.
Dr Who is so amazingly brilliant. We look forward to you discovering the intriguing, inspiring and incredible stories and characters that await for you in the future 👌🛸 ps appreciation also for the great Brian Cox (voice of Elder Ood)👋

Bernard Cribbins was the voice of British children’s childhood. He was Perks in the railway children, he was a Doctor companion, read Jackanory and was the voice of the Wombles…..& came full circle rejoining Doctor Who. The perfect arc 😢
Lot of mentions of The Matrix - In the 1976 classic Who story The Deadly Assassin, the Doctor is on Gallifrey, on trial for the assassination of the President. In order to find the real killer, he has to enter a computer-generated universe known as "the Matrix".
My two favorite moments of this reaction: 1) Syntell and Rekei seeing Martha and 2) Rekei's face when he learned Martha is married to Mickey. Priceless!😂
Wilf was a real companion, vs. the other parental types. That's what make him incredibly special, besides the fact that Bernard Cribbins was just SO good at all of his roles in the show. RIP. 😪

Just a Classic WHO lore nugget: Time Lord society... There are tiers. There are those that reject being Lords of anything and live off the land: The Shobogans. Then there are your standard citizens, Gallifreyans. Kids have been called "Time Tots" in the Classic series affectionately by a Time Lord, but Gallifreyans go to the Academy, join 1 of I think 6 Chapter Houses (This is 1970s lore so predating that other UK franchise I refuse to talk about any more) and at said Academy they get educated and become Time Lords. All of that said, the moniker of Time Lord(s) does get cast over the whole species at times, usually by outsiders, and Time Lords don't deem it important to correct anyone or educate them on how their society works cause it's nobody's business but theirs.
Ok, I went to look it up, the 6 Academy Chapters: Prydonian (Doctor & Master were Prydonians), Scendeles, Arcalian, Patrexian, Dromeian, and Cerulean. Scen, Dro, & Cer are from expanded media only, Pry, Arc, and Pat are all mentioned in Classic WHO.
The episode crushed me when David had to go, but Matt Smith is such an awesome Doctor. For me I have David & Matt even or sometimes one sticking above the other. I mean my doctors are David, Matt & Christopher who are very close
"The Moment" when The Doctor is angry. Example Vashda Nerada in the library "...Look Me Up" that kinda moment, when he is angry, that is his secret weapon. The Doctor Moment. If you ask me.
I never thought about it before but it’s a cool little paradox. While this episode is going on with 10 The time war doctor is also out there in the past trying to stop the high council too
The Mickey and Martha thing is something that I didn’t really know how to feel about because it just comes out of nowhere but the longer I’ve thought about it the more I think it’s poetic in a way and would feel a lot better if it had been explored more beforehand and I’m sure it would’ve been if Freema and Noel were available for Torchwood s3
To answer your question, not everyone on Gallifrey is a Timelord, only high-born, and after attending the Timelord Academy. Pretty sure that's covered in am episode somewhere. Can't remember it for the life of me! Great reaction vod though guys 🇬🇧 🇺🇸
The scene with Captain Jack is right after a horrible sequence of events in Torchwood and he was devastated...and The Doctor gave him something to restore some appreciation for life. That season of Torchwood was by far the best but very dark.
My own little claim to Doctor Who fame is that I saw this episode being filmed! 🙂 I watched most of the scenes that take place on Donna’s street, like when Gallifrey appears in the sky and Sylvia and Shaun come outside to look at it. Didn’t have a clue what was going on at the time, of course, but it was so much fun to watch! Now I can no longer rewatch the actual episode without bawling my eyes out. RIP Bernard Cribbins. What a legend.
I discovered your channel because of your Doctor Who reactions and I am enjoying every single one. Thank you so much. Have you watched Good Omens yet? It's one of David Tennant's best performances, in my opinion. It's an absolute delight.
That "i dont wanna go" line gets me crying every time ...and ive been watching since i was 15 fam .. am 31 now and yes these too much dust in my bed room tonight 😂❤
The Martha/Mickey pairing bugs me too, but moreso because of the trope of 2 people of color HAVE to hook up. 🤔 Also taking her off the market for you Rekkai, sorry my man! 😜 Really glad you enjoyed this, one of my favorite episodes too! Just great. Gotta love Wilf, And Tennant, great acting, but for me John Simm really does a Masterful job too. Him showing the madness of the Master but also a nugget buried deep of who he was before Rassilon sent that signal back to mess with his mind. There is a small part of him that's still normal, and Simm plays it really really well! Looking forward to the 11th Hour!!
It's not part of the show technically but when David left they had a behind the scenes wrap up party which featured two music videos they made to say goodbye to David and the era that might be fun to react to, they're called the ballad of russell and julie and 500 miles (the proclaimers song yes)
This is actually prior to the Doctor ending the Time War (they were trying to escape the time locked Time War), so it's different than Rose's situation.
I am so so excited. This was an amazing reaction. Full of Emotions and you’re right, the hat tips at the end are a perfect way to wrap up David tennants era. The score for is absolutely beautiful also. Welcome to the Moffat Era of doctor who. The first 4 seasons have been a wild ride in itself, and there’s so much fun to come. Glad to see how much you guys are enjoying this ❤
You probably wont see this by now but first of all amazing reactions but also fun fact about the Geoffrey noble reference. Originally Geoffrey was going to have the role Wilf had but after the actors passing Wilfreds role was adjusted to fill in on the one hand amazing to see Bernard cribbins but at the same time i wonder what could have been.
Not sure if anyone answered this for you. The population of Galfre is a few billion people. But the population of time Lords is only a few hundred thousand the time Lords are the ruling governing body on Gallifrey. Not everyone on that planet is a time Lord.
It's always sad to say goodbye to The Doctor but I think you guys are gonna like this upcoming era. Its a little more fairytale, a little more horror, and the effects and visuals are going to get a major upgrade!
The 9th doctors final story was him facing down the Dalek emperor. This episode, the 10th doctors final story, has him face down the other wartime leader: President Rassilon. In the classic series of Doctor who Rassilon was the founder of time lord society who controlled time itself. He died before the doctors time but just like the master he was revived to wage the time war. It shows how far gone the time lords were in the war to the point where the controller of time itself was willing to destroy his creation to win the war. Anyway good luck with the 11th doctors era. Matt smith is a fan favourite for a reason, he makes an immediate first impression!
A bit of irony with The Doctor telling Rose she's going to have a great year, since she skips a lot of it thanks to him. :D For those keeping count, The Doctor has died due to radiation thrice (3, 10 and 9, if you count time vortex energy), old age once (1 ), forced regeneration once (2), falling once, (4), crash landing in a spaceship (6 and 8 ), poison once (5), and getting shot once (7). Not going any further than that for now.
The Time Lords weren't still alive relative to the Doctor's timestream. He had killed them all and the entire Time War was locked in a bubble so that no-one could travel in or out. Given the way that the Time war worked (involving a lot of time travel-based weapons) that means that the time war's effects affected the entirety of the history of Gallifrey. This means that it is not possible to travel to it or interact with anyone involved in the final parts of the war. Rassilon got around this by seeding the drumbeat in the Master's head through time back when he was a child; knowing that he ran and hid from the war, effectively putting himself out of the reach of the timelock. Up to this point in the show, the Time Lords are not still alive anywhere that the doctor is capable of travelling to. He also does not want to try and breach the timelock as that would release the now battle-hardened and bloodthirsty Time Lords as well as the Daleks at the absolute height of their power. TL;DR: the Time lords are not still alive in any meaningful way and the Gallifrey that the Doctor remembers fondly pre-Time war is now gone forever.
I remember watching this as a kid when it first aired and thinking I wasn't going to like the 11th doctor due to his weird acting in that final scene but I was wrong and he amazed me so much and actually became my favourite doctor and still is today I'm telling you you have some good episodes coming
18:34 it's so crazy and I remember getting chills for this. If the time lord who refuses to use guns picks up one after he finds out his people have returned, that's how you know it's bad news. Heck, the news made him more triggered than seeing a Dalek 😬😬
Although it is never explicitly stated, when Wilf asks who the woman was The Doctor looks at Sylvia and Donna can be seen in the background. The subtle implication is 'mother'.
This was a fantastic end to the RTD era. I thought the way The Stolen Earth finale was epic with the way all the loose ends were brought back together was incredible but this went and topped it. Having Wilf as the de facto companion was genius. Superb chemistry between both actors and boy did he tug at your heartstrings. The fact the Doctor got to say goodbye to all his past friends was sentimental but lovely and oh my lord that last scene with him crying at Donna’s wedding … there’s a reason why that’s a meme 😢 and before you know it, BANG here comes Matt Smith! Can’t wait to see how you feel about the next season. 🫢Spoliers! Great reaction as always. 👍🏻
Matt Smith in this role was incredible writing and choice but explaining most of that will be a spoiler but I will say by the end of ep 2 of his run is where you will see why he was cast as Prince Phillip and later Daemon
That meme of Wilf crying when The Doctor leaves, will never be the same when you see it. It will have even more weight when you uses it from now on and isn't that beautiful? !!! Also, David and Georgia named one of their children Wilfred, talking about giving a big honor back to this man, this can count.
IMO David Tennant is the best actor to have played the Doctor. All of them, especially in the NuWho era where the style allows more emoting, are very good, but he really is outstanding. Interestingly, one of the differences in the Moffat era is that we spend significantly less time in London.
Apparently in Russel T. Davis' original proposal for Doctor Who mentioned that there would be more focus on earth and London to be more "human focused".
My two fave doctors :) I can't wait for you to find out more about River. Remeber the things she mentions in Silence in the Library? they will come soon :)
About the Gallifrey thing, the Time War is time locked which means the Doctor can't go back in time to it, and they can't come forward to get out of it. So from the Doctor's perspective he did indeed destroy Gallifrey, but because of time travel it exists in all times past, present, and future, but only in the Doctor and Master's past. The only reason the Time Lords got out is because of a loop hole, which would have created a Paradox, but the Master shut it down.
So... the Timelords are locked inside the Time War, alongside the Daleks, but The Doctor did go on to destroy his planet and them along with it. From that point in time (The Timelord's point of time in this episode) he hadn't yet, but the Timelords knew he would so in a last ditch effort they did what they did in this episode to try to escape. So yeah the Timelords are alive in the past, but the entire war is time locked and it's said to be impossible to break into or out of it, which it isn't, but it's extremely difficult to the point where The Doctor can't or doesn't want to for fear of the consequences. But no, from the current point in time we see, the Timelords are all dead and Gallifrey is destroyed. It's like if a loved one you had died; if you could travel into the past you could see them again, so they're still alive in the past, but in your present they're dead.
Just so you know, the Timelords were time locked during the war so they and the Daleks couldn’t escape and destroy things in different times. But in the doctors timeline, he destroyed all the Daleks and the Gallefrians to end the war. So what you saw was them reaching out from the “past” (according to the doctor’s life) from the time lock to try to get out of the lock.
Can we talk about Syntells reaction to Matt smith? LOVED IT. Like I know he doesn't like spoilers or looks ahead and to see him react to Matt with fresh eyes from house of the dragon and seeing Matt take over was everything!! Hats off lads absolutely loved the reactions so far. Ill be honest with you. You've not seen anything yet and my god you will see the difference in that budget money in the first episode of the next series. CANT WAIT.

Yea Rassilon and Omega are the top tier and god like
@@TONES44 well they can create new species and make people into immortals, so they are gods.
Not only that, Rassilon controls all of existence and the laws of existence and can delete entire powers and species from existence and time so that no one remembers they even existed
@@RegianOne Yup!
Matt Smith was the youngest actor to play the doctor at 26
I was so upset I almost walked away--my dude #DavidTennant gone *and* replaced by someone *younger* than me? Then I saw #MattSmith and by the end of S5ep2 I was like "David Who?" :)
I always remember a newspaper headline calling him the "Time Lad"!
@@TenCapQuesada LOLOLOLOL
also fitting because he thought that was his last face and wanted to feel young
@@IsiahBradley yeah, I was honestly surprised by how quickly Matt Smith became the Doctor for me, too. Even with his first appearance at the end of this episode (through the stream of tears lol) I remember thinking, I really do believe this is the Doctor! His energy is infectious.
David Tennant was my favorite doctor but Matt Smith gave us some...pretty emotional and epic moments as well. Can't wait for you to discovering him :)
to answer your question about timelords, not every gallifreyan is a timelord it’s only a select group of gallifreyans. Also timelords are very isolationist and don’t usually go around the universe on their own, the doctor is kinda unique in that way, thats one of the reasons he stole the tardis he wanted to see the universe and the timelords weren’t letting him because their strict policy on not interfering with the timeline.
Only in NuWho in Classic Who Time Lords were a species name.
AAAAHHH we're here OMG can't boeve we've gotten through the first show runner and two doctors in such quick time. I'm loving rewatching with you guys you have both been perhaps my favourite reactors of Doctor who. You bring such wonderful perspective to the show.
Wilfred was such an amazing companion. Got me crushed whenever he would beg for the safety of the Doctor or his last goodbye to the time lord giving us the meme.
The Ood song is called "Vale Decem" which is Latin for "Farewell, Ten".
Oh, I didn’t know that!
@Professor_Murder Yes, if you check out the video by mdragon1801 it gives the whole text, with translation. They do other great Dr Who music as well. Just look for Dr Who, Vale Decem.

Sometimes, RTD’s self-indulgences could be just a teensy-bit much… but this episode… man, THIS episode is PERFECTION. The last 15 minutes are so dramatic and emotional and impactful… I love that you guys enjoyed it! BTW… Moffatt’s era is on another level! You’re in for a treat! ❤
The Moffat era is when the show starts going downhill.
@@765clairewell, that’s one opinion. Others will disagree.
57:01 Some time after my Rekkai reacted to my initial comment I posted a second trying to clarify what I was getting at, but I was a bit slow.
Original comment:
"The Doctor still possesses the Moment. He will use it to destroy Time Lords and Daleks alike" someone on the High Council says. That's in the future from the Time Lord's perspective at this point. They are trying to prevent that.
Clarification:
My point is, the episode does not contradict what the Doctor previously said about Gallifrey and the Time Lords being destroyed.
They were both living in Rose’s shadow.
The most emotional moment in Doctor who history imo no moment came close to this
Dr Who is so amazingly brilliant. We look forward to you discovering the intriguing, inspiring and incredible stories and characters that await for you in the future
👌🛸 ps appreciation also for the great Brian Cox (voice of Elder Ood)👋
23:43 the I got six bullets line had me rolling lol
42:33 I enjoyed that as well. They also set it up at the last moment to make you believe he escaped death again but then the knocks come.
Enjoyed your reaction to this season. Looking forward to seeing next season’s reactions.
And it plays a big part in Trial of a time lord sixth doctors' season length story.
31:34 Glad Donna has a happy ending! 😊💪

I love how you guys love this show.
I love reliving this with you guys .
The scene with Captain Jack is right after a horrible sequence of events in Torchwood and he was devastated...and The Doctor gave him something to restore some appreciation for life. That season of Torchwood was by far the best but very dark.
The next 13 episodes are some of my favorite of all time. You’re in for a treat.
Some people criticised this story. WTF? A perfect end to a near-perfect era.
im so excited to see you guys see the 11th doctor. he is my favorite! its clear you guys are invested in the stories you watch
21:31 & 22:25 so many moments in this episode that give me chills
"They're not just bringing back species, IT'S GALIFRAY"
The Martha/Mickey pairing bugs me too, but moreso because of the trope of 2 people of color HAVE to hook up. 🤔 Also taking her off the market for you Rekkai, sorry my man! 😜
Really glad you enjoyed this, one of my favorite episodes too!
Now and then I watch the 500 Miles one as a pick me up.
@@nancyscogin7549 lol yeah, I just went back and watched both, felt appropriate
This is actually prior to the Doctor ending the Time War (they were trying to escape the time locked Time War), so it's different than Rose's situation.
I am so so excited. This was an amazing reaction. Full of Emotions and you’re right, the hat tips at the end are a perfect way to wrap up David tennants era. The score for is absolutely beautiful also.
Welcome to the Moffat Era of doctor who.
The first 4 seasons have been a wild ride in itself, and there’s so much fun to come.
Glad to see how much you guys are enjoying this ❤
Matt Smith is finally here! That’s MY doctor. I’m so hyped for season 5 y’all
You probably wont see this by now but first of all amazing reactions but also fun fact about the Geoffrey noble reference. Originally Geoffrey was going to have the role Wilf had but after the actors passing Wilfreds role was adjusted to fill in on the one hand amazing to see Bernard cribbins but at the same time i wonder what could have been.
Oh and Timelords are appointed. Everyone else is just Gallifreyan.
Not sure if anyone answered this for you. The population of Galfre is a few billion people. But the population of time Lords is only a few hundred thousand the time Lords are the ruling governing body on Gallifrey. Not everyone on that planet is a time Lord.
Only according to NuWho standards Classic Who confirms otherwise.
The music and the speech at the end always makes me cry
It's always sad to say goodbye to The Doctor but I think you guys are gonna like this upcoming era. Its a little more fairytale, a little more horror, and the effects and visuals are going to get a major upgrade!
This was the last time we saw Sarah Jane...Rest in Peace.
Mickey has the best glow-up! It's so fun to see people hate on him in the beginning knowing how far he will go
I'm so Excited for you to start watching Season 5 its so good and has a different vibe too it
The 9th doctors final story was him facing down the Dalek emperor.
This is where the fun begins!!!! 🙏🏽💪
35:02 My second favorite Doctor! Matt Smith!! 🙏🏽💪
Mine, too ❤❤❤❤❤
The Tenth Doctor was by far the most ruthless but also one of the most kind.
A bit of irony with The Doctor telling Rose she's going to have a great year, since she skips a lot of it thanks to him. :D
For those keeping count, The Doctor has died due to radiation thrice (3, 10 and 9, if you count time vortex energy), old age once (1 ), forced regeneration once (2), falling once, (4), crash landing in a spaceship (6 and 8 ), poison once (5), and getting shot once (7).
10th Doctor is awesome, 11th is gonna be lots of fun too, but my personal favorite is the 12th so hang in there
I can’t wait for 12
When will you react and upload the next season?
The Doctor just broke the link, sending them back into the TimeLock, back into the war, he didn't send them anywhere.
I liked to know your opions about season 1-4 and s15. RTD1 vs RTD2. Which one is better?
I never noticed before, but the Vinvocci ship reminds me of the Starbug from Red Dwarf. I wonder what they would think of that show?
I am so freaking pumped for the 11th hour. Moffat era here we come
The most sour note of this is the random pairing of Martha and Mickey for me. Martha deserves so much more.
Yay! Matt Smith! ❤❤
Matt Smith in this role was incredible writing and choice but explaining most of that will be a spoiler but I will say by the end of ep 2 of his run is where you will see why he was cast as Prince Phillip and later Daemon
Jack was depressed and in mourning while he was sitting there, due to what happened in Torchwood Series 3. Doctor gave him sommat to feel better.
This episode…damn! Who’s cutting onions in here? 😢
57:26 Nevermind, that dude hit the mark.
The lockdown choir from across the world sang this song. You need to check it out. Murray Gold hit this out of the park.
44:52 They didn’t go back in time but rather sent the signal itself back in time
The actor that played the master as a child in the flashbacks tragically unalived himself not long after playing the part
Bernard Cribbins is was a national treasure, also will add again starred along side Peter Cushing in one of the Doctor Who movies.
CANT WAIT.
What's the link to the discord? 👀
"The Moment" will come in the 50th Anniversary special. Don't miss it, because it was my 49th birthday. (Doctor and I share a birthday, but he's older than me.)
You boys keep "the Moment" in your thoughts. It will return eventually but not until an anniversary special, way down the line ... ... and I think you will like it 😄
