Okay whoever it was that told Vinny that Jerma hates the "Coffee, Cheetos, chicken" joke is an absolute liar. Jerma sometimes jokingly says he hates certain memes, and even had a stream where he "killed" some (lol) but he doesn't really hate any of them.

Why does it seem that every second joke is Ratchet and Clank related?
I think the dev was a huge Speng and Ratchet fan seeing as most of the maps and some weapons are related to those. I think it should have been called Spongeclank mod but PTSD seemed appropriate for sure
Looks like someone played Ratchet and Clank, and loved it enough to make 60% of his HL2 mod about it
cause it haunted the creators dreams.
Even the sound effects at the main menu and pause menu were taken straight from R&C.
@@crust9889 his avatar was ratchet. also, one of them had the spongebob eyes avatar. that's why that stuff is everywhere. the craziest thing is, the portal ripoff mod this is based on is getting an official release as a standalone retail source game called PUNT, and the people are the same ones valve gave the blessing to to use the code and assets of F-STOP and explore them and show them off now that the indie game superliminal is out and is very comparable to the F-STOP prototype. this was a shitpost mod based on a mapper working on a long dead mod built on portal, and the game is actually getting a full studio release which is insane.
I love how when that one song was playing it took Vinny a good few seconds to recognize his own voice.
The creator lost interest in the project but kept working on it for the community around it. Even with the first game I wasn't happy with the lack of context given to the player. I hoped my "resident evil" voice acting was going to get cut. Sorry for posting cringe. The overall lack of content and filler sequences disengage the player. Especially if you have no Idea what these references are about. Everything that isn't PUNT related just involves the creators favorite childhood games. The burger ending depicts the creator if he decided to finish PTSD 2 and release it. It would never happen because he lost all passion for the project. An endless loop similar to writers block. The fish ending is what actually happened. Ethosaur (The creator) moved on from source engine and found passion in developing for VR. This project was deteriorating from his health. I'm just happy he can develop content he wants to create.
I honestly blame vinny's sour attitude. I'm as far out of the loop when it comes to the in-jokes, but the absurdity of the ptsd series was always charming to me. Old punt, the goofy sound effects and spongebob textures, and the memes out of date or not are still really creative and showcase a lot of passion and hard work put into these modpacks. I love vinny but i always hated his patented "streamer reacts to weird game": meme schlock he pulls.

It's so formulaic I hate how he acts like that with a lot of indie projects and games that are the slightest bit weird. I'm not saying he has to enjoy every game he's playing. But it would be nice for him to recognize that someone worked on it. Flop or bust recognize humanity even if you don't enjoy a project.
I may never understand the ptsd mod or punt at all but I think all of these modpacks are delightfully fun and wellmade. Give my regards to Ethosaur; he's incredibly talented and I hope he continues creating maps, props, games or whatever creatively strikes him.

@Mia Wu I can see where both you and New Vegas are coming from but at the same time I don't really see how he 'treat[ed] it like shit because [he] didn't find it funny.' He mentioned how it had solid gameplay and really played just like a half life 2 vanilla map, I agree, he didn't sound very enthusiastic playing it but I guess when the whole thing *is* just inside jokes and you don't get them, it can get a bit boring. Sure, he should have just cut the map when he got bored and moved on, but at least he did Etho some justice by actually finishing the thing.

EDIT: I should also probably mention, the mod is a bit long. It drags out a bit, which depending on who you are really is or isn't an issue I guess. It's fair to say that vinny didn't enjoy this and that it was drug out a bit but I suppose something for everyone. I'm not saying the mod is *objectively* bad or that you're wrong
I didn't find the mod interesting at all and it wore me down so I kinda just alt tabbed and worked on stuff while using it for background noise, but from what I've heard, Vinny really never 'shit on' the game.
@Mia Wu I honestly agree with you so much on this. I kinda really hated how Vinny kept asking "Is it done yet?" Near the Hour and a Half mark, when some really fun looking stuff was still going on, hell, he fucking noclipped and shit just to get it over with. Really pissed me off personally

A lot of Gmod videos are in the same vein as Team Fabulous but that's pretty much because everyone in Gmod machinima scene knew Kitty. I loved Team Fabulous 2 and haven't seen stuff quite up to par with it.

This mod is definitely very close in tone and in reference material to Kitty's vids.
Kitty used lots of Ratchet and Clank sound effects, as well as a lot of references from other PS2 and Dreamcast games like Jet Set Radio, the SpongeBob games, Sly Cooper, and so on.
So yeah, I'd say they're in the same vein as eachother, and there's nothing wrong with that.
They're both fairly entertaining.

No, not at all.
God damn I miss when that franchise was good.
The first four on PS2 are the only good ones really (with Deadlock being my favorite), all the rest after on PS3 just felt so lifeless and unintuitive compared to them.
I still go back and replay the old ones from time to time.
Going by the comments about the first PTSD mod, this is all the collected whole of a HL2 mappers resulting PTSD and way to cope with it after working far too long on another mod entirely.

Enjoyed the first one, quite a-bit more. Mean a-lot of work in comparison, also was good to see they got the pressure plates to work this time around.
It kind of reminds me of Vinny's stream of the WarioWare Made in Fixed Fun.
The effort and passion behind it were there, the passion especially, but...
Well I'm sure Vinny's insight was on point, there are lots of people who really enjoyed this, just the humor wasn't all that aimed at me.
It's like EarthBound: Cognitive Dissonance, it played well but had pretty unfunny humour that was trying too hard to be like original EarthBound's humour.

Not only is a lot of it inside jokes, but also a lot of references to other games not a lot of Vinny's audience has played.
I get a lot of the references because I grew up with a lot of the same games he's referencing.
It's more nostalgia than humour to me.
I know cringe is an overused word but sometimes there's no better word to describe games like Made in Fixed Fun.
Vinemon had the same problem even though the other 90% of it was great, the dialogue was at most times painful and the jokes were forced. Some people want to enjoy a community and be a part of it but they don't have a good idea of how to present their love for the subject matter, and end up forcing themselves as the creator into it or putting the player through something unpleasant
I think if you go into them as a Down The Rabbit Hole style deep dive and use it to explore what's going on with the creator, some entertainment can be gleaned from it at least, but there's no nice way to say 'ugh you ruined the joke', which is something you can always relate to when you're around that one friend. Those 'one friends' make things too

I rewatched the first mod (he played it 2017) before watching this. The first was definitely more random and the concept was like Gordon having nightmares involving lots of memes and shitposts. This is more like a cohesive game with some (more or less) funny elements. Vinny was clearly more annoyed by the mod back then

Several of my favorite games are SpongeBob and Ratchet, so seeing and hearing these assets was really nice.

I thought it was pretty funny. It's dumb humor that all can enjoy.
I definitely wouldn't say everyone enjoyed it. Vinny seemed to only enjoy the gameplay which I agree upon. The maps were designed with pretty good effort albeit a little frustrating on the flow (a map shouldn't overly rely on arrows for navigation or require tedious searching.) It was mostly the humor which held it back a bit because it was constantly throwing completely random things or inside jokes. I also think you'll enjoy it a bit more if you are a big Spongebob and Ratchet and Clank fan seeing as how lots of assets and design are taken from those sources.

It's like, for the past years, Biny has been slowly but surely building up towards playing Battle for Bikini Bottom. First being very appalled by it, but, by now, being open to it.
I kind of wish they stuck with Ratchet and clank weapons for all of the weapons. I don’t know why but I feel that the style of the weapons works with the spongebob themed backdrops and settings, as well as the unique character models. The revolver and the gravity gun seem to be the only two that greatly deviate from this style while the other weapons are relatively consistent in their style.

EDIT: Pineapple Factory and beyond is kinda dope in terms of design and story but the humor is just not hitting it at all. I'm thinking this is a collection of inside jokes between a group of friends, perhaps this mod was more meant for them?

i don't understand how he doesn't get lighting ques in games. green means go. red means no. it's like how in black mesa he never realized the doors have to have either pushbars or turn knobs to be usable. all the doors with the flat aluminum push panel were just wall decor. he still tried them all.
