"Don't confuse drama with happiness."
That will correct so many issues.
fr.
Especially these days. There's a difference between being strong and being difficult.
The world would be sunshine & rainbows if even half of all adults adhered to this.
we also mistakenly assume that the strong emotions that come from drama indicate that we are engaged in something deeply meaningful. most of time, we're just being petty, spiteful, defensive, narcissistic, neurotic, etc.
@@syntaxusdogmata3333hahaha but not if you try harder!! 🤪 (this is extreme sarcasm btw)
I love how some of these are legitimately good advice while the others only work if you’re a Swanson.
Specifically
5, 9 (I guess), 19, 20, 21, 27, 28 and 29
@@thicccheese4007ll, I'm glad we got that straightened out 😅
Also:
6, 15, 22, 23, 24
They all work
@@benjamincarter6095yup. I literally live by all these.
@@benjamincarter6095 not all of them or at least only to some extent.
“If you don’t believe in love, what’s the point of living?”
Damn, but Ron has some great thoughts.
for me, self enlightenment and massive profits that keep the peasants down and in order
Love is a device invented by bank managers to make you go overdrawn.
@@strangelee4400 Love is also a chemical, ergo, the economy is just domestic biological warfare
I used to work with a guy that begged me to watch parks and rec bc I reminded him of Ron. He left the company before I watched the show. I only wish I could thank him for the wonderful compliment
So you still never talk sometimes?
@@daveolson6001nice one 👌😂
I started watching for the same reason lol. The co-worker was correct.
Both daughters told me the same. They are correct right down to the glorious mustache since 1977. My favorite adage is "Most people are idiots".
Same. Thought it was because I was just libertarian, but no. I also love breakfast food, dark haired women, regard fish as a vegetable and dislike small dogs. That friend also introduced me to Community. Havent talked to him in years. Always mispronounced his name as well. Couldn't get too chummy with coworkers
His character is so completely exaggerated but relatable. Great writing and great acting
*He's the Barney Stinson of local government.*
eh he's honestly not all that different from my dad, only my dad will eat fish and probably even more anti-government (with my help)
based on some of the other "I know a guy like Ron!" comments (including this one), it seems inevitable that you'll bump into one eventually. When you do, will you come back and tell us? :D
Idk man lol. Spend some time around mid west men his age and you'll be saying the writing is only a little off.
@@DannyBoy443 *Just to clarify, Ron Swanson is imitating older guys.* Ron himself is around 50 and an outlier of that demographic.
Knotty, not naughty
Beat me to that.
That red pine was naked... so "naughty!" 😏
Thank you.
I came here to say the same thing.
I guess we all have a little Swanson in ourselves 😀
#13: I think Ron ends up buying, using, then gifting Andy and April a proper toolbox and tool set for home repair and maintenance, which, IMO, is a really solid wedding present.
My mom's dad gave her one for her wedding. She gifted some family friends one for their wedding.
I thought he gave it to ann
@@Jayn-Sync really? well, any excuse to re-watch the show!
@@jaspdx63 Yeap, Ann asks to help Ron , because she wants to learn how to do this stuff since she's a home owner, Ron ends up giving her the toolbox because she earned it .
Not to mention, that’s EXPENSIVE. Good tools ain’t cheap.
“Look at me, just a kid.” Is still literally a full grown man with a moustache 🤣
like literally
@@jamesbuckley8917 literally!
What are you talking about?
That's clearly Ron when he was nine years old after working a twelve hour shift at the sheetmetal factory.
After delivering himself, he cut the cord with a knife he forged in the womb. 5 minutes later he grew his mustach and the rest is history.
*Charles Mulligan’s fighting stance*
“Don’t confuse drama with happiness.” Thanks again Ron
"A horrible man gave me some great advice" is a hilarious line, and is often true.
I know it’s supposed to be satire character, but this is legitimately a good role model.
Just make sure your buildings are up to code :v (or at least safe)
When a parody character makes sense you know world can use more of his type of people
What's funny is they obviously considered Ron to be absurdly over-the-top. Sometimes he is, granted, but most of the time he's totally based.
@@syntaxusdogmata3333 Ron Swanson is unironically my role model
@@darkbum1510 Good for you! Thank you for sharing, Jenny. 👍
@@syntaxusdogmata3333 You're welcome, Lester.
I second that
I love how Leslie is the only one still sitting there after Ron pulls his tooth out
You mean like, what? Leave a workplace? A meeting? And not work? Nonsense!
Fun fact: Him actually pulling his tooth out wasn't scripted, so those are all real reactions of shock and dismay.
I noticed April ran out quickly, usually she loves blood and gore.
I have closely followed all of Ron Swanson's guidelines. After years of grinding, I have finally grown a moustache. Thank you, Ron!
Gotta be done. Scissorhalf 😂
Remember the proper way to shave it is friction ;)
Ron Swanson has to be in the top 5 best character development stories in history. He influenced his loved ones to become better, and they did the same to him; yet he still remained the same person at the core. You love to see it.
I love the way he stomps through lowes and simply and flatly states "I know more than you"
Ron was written as a mockery of libertarianism. He became it's ultimate mascot.
Ron looks so proud when April throws the vegan “bacon” in the garbage.
I think he regards her as something akin to his daughter at that point 🤣
Whoever keeps this channel alive, hats off to you Ma'm / Sir
Everything ron says is thought through before he says it. He isnt telling you things he was taught hes telling you things hes figured out.
"Any dog below 50 pounds is a cat and cats are pointless". Man, it's amazing how relatable Ron really is.
Ron clearly isn't from a farming background and never had to deal with rats!
Little terriers are absolute death machines and amazing at getting rid of rats.
One of the few things Ron gets wrong. lol
@@Delboy001647363Makes one wonder, what killed the rats and mice on his farm? Are they the people who use minks and dogs, was it wolverines, owls, trained rat-snakes, Miner's Cats, or do they keep cougars for pest control? Ron has been around cougars his whole life
Farm cats who gets rid of pest: excuse me?!
@@Delboy001647363but Ron's family did have a farm
I love my dog which is under 50 lbs. I also agree with Ron because my dog sometimes acts like a cat.
19. Don't confuse drama with happiness.
Truer words have never been spoken.
You forgot one: when Ron writes reviews and that guy comes up to him and confronts him, April ask why he left his name and where he worked and he said “because I believe it, if you believe on something you should sing it” or something around the line. So lesson #32: stand up for what you believe on
Stand up for what you believe in, on, or around.
*You know you're doing the right thing when April imitates you.*
I love that you guys thought it was "naughty red pine"
Knotty Red Pine :D
Everyone references the drama/happiness quote. A better one that more people should adhere to is #20: Don’t go chasing applause. That way lies madness.
Ron is the exemplary Stoic of our generation
This character is so popular because it has heavy doses of reality mixed in with the parody.
#10. Something I learned is that hunger is all that's really needed for motivation. Whether it be for food, money, entertainment, or just praise. Find something that you're hungry for, and let that be you're reason for working hard at your job.
I seriously never get tired of Ron
"a steak, lagavulin whisky and 2 hours of love making, bed by half 8" I have never related to a TV character to much, that sounds perfect
This was a great video! One quick thing, though: in item #6 ("Do not cover naughty red pine") - it's **knotty** pine, not "naughty" pine (unless Parks & Rec was trying to tell us that Ron is a VERY different guy than the one he was being portrayed as, and that he was talking about some weird desire to, like, spank the "naughty" pine to his infant son).
Also, when someone gets too chummy, call them by the wrong name. Trust me, Lester said so.
Thanks, John. Great advice.
famous last words. there is no wrong way to consume alcohol
As hard of a shell he has he literally is the biggest teddy bear at times I love it
fine, i'll rewatch the show.
I thought “Fishing is not that hard” couldn’t be topped then right after “there is nothing that can’t be solved with breakfast food”, love it.
When Ron is smiling the same as the photo cracks me up.
"Normally, if given a choice between between doing something and nothing, I'd choose to do nothing. But I will do something if it helps someone else do nothing. Id work all night, if it meant nothing got done."
Is actually s rank tier bro moment
yup. he said that.
The comedic nuances of Ron Swanson will never be outdone.
Lmfao Leslie's impersonation is spot on 😂
"Are the scissors broken in your house, son?" Gets me every time 😂
The epitome of Gen X men. Vote Ron for exalted world leader
Leslie’s Tammy impression is so good
I know right?!
Knope's impression of Tammy 2 is frikkin awesome
dude casting rings from a silver lamp is next level
Ron Swanson is such a good role model dude is an inspiration to all Libertarians and Meat Lovers!
(When I refer to meat I refer Chicken,Hamburger, and sausage.)
And not tempered with by a certain pc guy.
And venison, but not fish.
@@Michael-cf9cj Damnit! Ron and I disagree on the subject of fish meat. I like all the fish meat too. 95% of this is on the money.
@@seththomas9105 I like fish as well. I like his idea of turf & turf, but I'd rather have surf & turf.
@@Michael-cf9cj I must try turf & turf too. But Ron LOVES shrimp and when bacon is wraped around it he says that's his Nirvanna.
“People who buy things are suckers”
Ron Swanson
"Knotty" as in the knots in the pieces of wood. Knots are usually formed when the tree splits off from a part, such as a branch. Knotty pine is wood with lots of those kinds of spots.
To be clear, it's "knotty" red pine, because you can see the knots in the boards. It's not naughty, he was not getting kinky with it.
I love how some of these are actually great advice.
"Don't confuse drama with happiness". So true and I've had the misfortune of associating with people that think like this
"Stay out of people's business" words to live by
"Luck is a concept for the weak" Don't count on it, ever
"No home is complete without a proper toolbox" totally true and I honestly can't imagine how frustrating it would be to not have tools lying around in case something breaks
"People who buy things are suckers."
The Ultimate Capitalist
Ikr?😅
Always loved how despite his absolute refusal to eat veggies, Ron has never wasted them.
They either go back into the container untouched or on someone else's plate, he never wastes food.
What about the vegan bacon
@@dhirajshrotri5776 thats not food, its garbage
@@dhirajshrotri5776that's not food though
this compilation took effort, hats off to whoever was responisble!
This show was truly brilliant.
I don’t know what it was about this show…but when I started watching it many years ago and had a bunch of seasons available to me, it gave me such a feeling of comfort and security and so much laughter. The cast felt like a family that I wanted to be a part of.
Ron Swanson
The man, the Man, the MAN
"Are the scissors in your house broken, son"
I wish Ron Swanson was my teacher, guardian, or guidance counselor 😭
The reactions to the tooth being pulled has gotta be in the top 10 funniest tv moments.
“I will do something if it helps someone else do nothing. I’d work all night if it meant nothing got done”
Amen Father Swanson, amen
I actually LOVE this character ❤
"naughty" red pine has me cackling 😅
I 1000% agree with Ron on breakfast food.
I love Ron, but can we just take a moment to appreciate how spot on Amy Poehler’s impression of Megan Mullally is 😂
Knotty, not naughty.
Nick Offerman and Aubrey Plaza are one of the greatest comedic pairings ever. The perfect blend of two similar but distinct varieties of crazy.
"Makes England Ok" High prais indeed from the man, the myth, the legend.
No bull, these are actually really good words of wisdom.
I'm literally Ron Swanson. Let me repeat that...literally. 👌
how i love him so. thank you Parks team
We love Ron.
The Ron/April Moments were the best ❤
It's always fun to see Tom faint. 🤣 Gets me every time.
The best part of this is the fact that this is the official P & R channel/account and they came up w/ that thumbnail. Awesome.
That luck sentence is top tier
8:10 says the guy who actively makes amazing woodworking pieces.
thank you ron, i will take this to heart 🙏
Ron is who all men should aim to be.
No lol, he's an idiot.
No, we need variety
@@legitplayin6977 nobody is the same but we should aim to be strong and reliable.
@@narutouzu9197 I mean, it’s easy to throw out vague qualities but that’s not only what Ron is. It’s actually very reductive
@@legitplayin6977 true. He’s loyal, a bit crazy, meat lover, alcohol drinker, hates salads, government hater, and craftsman. He got 100s of qualities but reliable and strong are the 2 that stick the most with me.
*Don't start chasing applause and acclaim. That way lies madness* _ Ron Swanson.
Ron is my spirit animal
This is what I needed in my life.
Ron swanson is my spirit animal
"The food that my fod eats" 😅😅
4:16 "Do something, if it helps someone else do nothing." It may seem unwise but under certain circumstances, if everyone will have this attitude, then work at offices or at home will probably get done faster.
Dang, misunderstanding Ron right from the start!
“Take a picture of every steak you eat”
WRONG!
He took a picture of every steak he ate from his favorite place. He would never take a picture of EVERY steak he ate.
Also, it’s “knotty” red pine, not “naughty” lol
"naughty" red pine...lol
5:47 I love my Gerber slide-out multi-tool. When I need it, I like to accompany it's slide-out action with the phrase "Go Go Gadget (the tool used)" in this case "Go Go Gadget Needle Nose Plyers".
Ron Swanson is my spirit animal.
Yes.
Mine too, although it's incumbent upon me to acknowledge that Ron Swanson would absolutely loathe being called anyone's "spirit animal" because spirit animals are for hippies and dementia patients.
@@warriorwaitress7690 Yes.
Oh Ron, the only real man 👍👍
Gotta' love the guy. The line to the Lowes guy...
You’ve accidentally given me the food that my food eats!

Is a gerbil marrying a rabbit? 😂
Lol his chuckle is cute
Brilliant
This man needs to mentor the world!
This is the best video on the entire internet.
Ron is just the kind of man I'd love so hopelessly forever
I need to live by this man
Great video. Found it pretty funny. Possibly even true and definitely wisdom that only my uncle would send me... 😊🙃
I chuckled to myself yesterday, in a Home Depot here in Phoenix, while trying to explain a 1 1/4" - 18 jamb nut I needed to seat a plumbing fixture. After approximately 213 questions as to how I know that's what I need, ( Quite simply, I put a pair of calipers on the O.D., and checked the thread count with a thread pitch gauge...) The line just about slipped out... I controlled myself though, and just told him I was going to go home and fire up the lathe. Which I did.
Such a wise man !!
