Thanks Craig 4 the vid. URDB .. You are ... da best.
Thank you sir
I love this channel
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
So far you’re the most effective and knowledgeable instructor or technician on TH-cam to explain real matters about HVAC/R, I trained in this field in GA but I’m getting more knowledge by only watching you, thank you.
I just watched because I was thinking about buying a heat pump, but I have to say as far as information/minute of video, you are at the top. I bookmarked this just in case I, or anybody I know, ever needs to learn more about how heat pumps work. Thank you.
Just started my first job in HVAC as a service tech apprentice just a week ago and we've serviced quite a few heat pumps. So I have to say this video along with the other videos I've been watching on your channel have helped fill in the gaps where I was completely lost while in the field 😅 I have taken a semester of classes but thats nothing compared to what you actually need to know when out on a job. But I'm feeling much more confident and can't wait to learn more
Best videos I have ever seen. Save thousands of dollars on school tuition fees and have better explanations covering all Hvac topics.
My boss is letting me study these videos and the book at work. I have 13 years of experience working on ammonia refrigeration so this is fun.
Most informative video on heat pump systems I’ve seen. Most others causally mention the heating strips and move on. Others are giving more details about the individual components and how to buy them (from themselves, of course) than explaining what and why they are in the system. Thanks.
Great explanations and I really love the way you laid the indoor handler and outdoor unit side-by-side. This is so much clearer to me now. I also like the way you explain the defrost process. I'd love it if one day you could expose the inside of outdoor unit and walk us through the sequence of operation along with the indoor air handler. Thank you again!
I did one on heat pump defrost in the way you are describing, thanks!
Great overview video of a heat pump. You always provide simple straightforward explanations. Super review for experienced techs. Happy 4th of July!
Finally An in depth tutorial/explanation how a HP refrigerant cycle works . I've always been unsure if the liquid and vapour lines switch pending on which cycle the system is running on . Thanks A.C.!
WOW, Craig, this is a DIAMOND. This is the best explanation I've ever seen. New to me 1. Muffler 2.W wire going out for AUX. 3.Electrical AUX strips. Also sometimes reversing valve hidden btw. condenser coils and cover grill. "Like in the wall". In my area, we don't have electrical AUX strips. South California. Even a lot of heat pumps has bypassed defrost or have removed it by some "good people". Thank you so much for this video.
Excellent description thank you very much indeed, I’ve watch many videos but feel that I act actually understand the system functions to a reasonable level of competence, cheers!
Bro, as an apprentice I hope you know how grateful I am for your teachings. Currently reading your book as well.
Wow, thank you
You have the best, more informative HVAC channel on TH-cam. You’ve helped me with so much knowledge in my career. I am very happy with your book as well, highly recommend to everyone!
That is awesome to hear Scott!
Recently bought the bundle and I just got to say how great and thorough it is. Thank you!
Glad you enjoy it!
I personally would like to thank you for this video. It is very informative. I qualified for a senior exemption and my county gave me a brand new furnace and this heat pump but nobody really explains what it does. The guy just said oh it’s got these coils and when it gets lower, it’ll do this. We’re about ready to go into subzero temperatures here in Chicago and I have been a 19:55 nervous wreck because of course I don’t know if those coils have ever engaged. You were very thorough you explained everything very well and I was wondering why I was getting cool air and why one day my fan wasn’t working outside when we were having an ice storm. I ended up calling them and they came out and said no it’s working correctly now I understand their Polish. They are very sweet people, but they have very bad accents and I have a hard time understanding them except for the owner. Thank you for taking the time to create this video. I feel a little bit better.
Watched this whole video and immediately decided to buy your book on Amazon to support, good stuff. I wish I had seen this a year ago
Thank you very much! Awesome to hear and let me know what you think of the book after reading!
Another awesome video. Very well explained and presented in language that’s easy for us “new techs.” Wish you had schools in about 1/2 the states for aspiring techs to go and really learn.
Great job Craig. These videos give me great confidence in fixing my own heat pump problems. Great explanation.
Great to hear!
At first, I couldn't learn anything from your videos. I stayed patient; I did some hands on and read some more about AC. Now I find all your Videos to be the best out there and I learned so much more by watching them. Thank you for uploading.
Thank you for your videos! You've got the talent on teaching. I learn a lot very time I watch your classes! Thank you !
Ty for your amazing ability to explain everything you know.Always appreciate your patience
Ty again
Wow! Thanks for explaining so well
I have a better understanding now
im telling you man,i dont regret i follow that guy.i spent couple of months in school i never got to undestand the heating cycle till now..thanks so much man i dont regret i purchase your book even if i dont receive it yet
Great video - I like how you have individual parts to explain things.
Great information. Thanks for the knowledge.
brilliant delivery and understanding....thank you
You're very welcome
I went to school and spent 12k didn't learn anything
Learned everything from your videos
Ty again for another great video
Great video. Very clear explanation! Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the show good entertainment understand ac now just starting to learn hp. Good illustration
great video....i was told refrigeration does NOT cool things down but pulls heat out of things and the air.....i get it now.
What a brilliant summary. I think I have finally reached the plateau I always wanted to achieve.
Great video, you just cleared up a lot for me thank you. All your videos are awesome thank you
Glad to hear it!
My Students Thank Me For Being A Great Instructor, So I want To Thank You.. Keep Posting Great Content.
Our pleasure!
Well done, brother!!! One of the best explanations on TH-cam; God bless!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Idk why he doesn’t have more subscribers that’s crazy this guy is legit
This is amazing!!
Installed a Nest and it's not detecting W wire. Heat pump seems to work but sometimes all a sudden my air gets cold.
At least now I have a good understanding of the system. Very well done.
I'm glad the video helped!
You are indeed a very good instructor! Thank You. I’m just getting back into the trade after 30 some years after my initial training. I don’t why and never have know why they would install heat pumps in the northeast! But that’s me. My question is; in defrost mode, isn’t the “indoor” coil blowing cold refrigerated air over the auxiliary heat? Thank You again for all of your videos. Jim
Amazing explanations! Thanks man!
Glad it was helpful!
Complimenti,,,,,! Uno dei migliori, channel you tube,,, desde you started,,,always, see it,,,,,PERFOMER STYLE,,,, BRAVISSIMO
I live in FL so below 35 is rare, I elected to disconnect my heat strip as if therm is set more then 2 degree up, heat strip comes on for a boost. Also, when in heat mode compressor amps after 10 mins will get to equivalent of cooling on a 100F outdoor temp day. You can think of the outdoor condenser coil now much smaller which is now the inside coil comparatively.
Great content ... thx, Craig!
Very smart 👌 good explanation
Excellent sr..always good explanations.
So nice of you
Just Tooooo Excellent!!! Thank you.
as always an excellent explanation.
Glad you think so!
Wow, wow, really thank you for the clarity.
Thank you for enjoying our content!
Hey Craig, you refer to heating mode and air conditioning mode. Whether heating or cooling it is air conditionaing as you are conditioning the air in the building. During editing your pop up refers to heating mode and cooling mode. Other than that I have learned a lot from you. Keep up the good work.
Great video & explanation Craig 👍👍
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you !!! thousand times again! thank you !!
You're very welcome!
Thank you
Is a very good video
Thanks for your info god bless you
Amazing video, very informative. Thank you. Just subbed to your channel
Awesome, thank you!
Great job and video
Thanks for the visit
Thank you.
Welcome!
that is a very convenient evap coil. if only they were all that accessible, yeah I called it an evaporator coil.
Thanks sir
Thank you! Can't say i understand all the detail, but i have a much better idea of how it works. Kudos!
Great explanation Craig as always! 😀👍
stuzman don’t you make videos anymore ?
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for a great explanation! While I may never get a certification and will still need a professional at times, I appreciate your explanation of how the system is supposed to work and it helped me to troubleshoot my old Nordyne heat pump issues. So nice of a professional to take the time to video and share!. I subscribed and watched a variety of your other videos as well. Always learning and looking for those that know what they are doing😀
Excelente explicación, estaría bueno que realizas un vídeo de como es la conección del termostato en los furnace
Busca en su playlist y encontraras lo que desees, tambien busca en word of advice tv es un canal de aires aconditicionados muy instructivo
Can you do a Bosch 15-20seer heat pump video explaining how it works and troubleshooting would be amazing to learn
Thankyou for that great explanation. On heat pumps.
Can you explain how the mini split heat pump works. At a lower temperature outside.
Thanks!
Thank you!!! Merry Christmas!!
I need to learn more about heat pump and air handler
HVAC GOAT!!
I love this channel
❤❤❤❤❤❤
thank you
Do these systems make a preliminary gurgling sound when they first start up, then it goes away? I just had a new Goodman set up installed.
What are your thoughts on R22 replacement with Bluon in a typical home system, I'm in VA with a 18-month old Coleman heat pump system.
Perfecto 👌
When you buy a heat pump "you get the AC/cool for free" an old saying in the HVAC industry as strict HVAC engineer(s) we call a heat pump indoor and outdoor coils vs evap and condenser due to the reserving valve of thermodynamics.
I've had to rewind a few times, but then it just clicked. Thank you! Compressor discharges hot gas, since its a gas, the piston can't drop its pressure. It bypasses, in the "evaporator coil" still warm, and heats air from the return. Then heads back to the external piston and then the pressure is dropped. Outside air is absorbed and goes through the condenser. Then back through the compressor. I think I understand, someone help me if I'm wrong! Thank you!
Hi Craig, is it ok to install a packaged AC unit in Florida or would it be better to install a split AC system? I haven't had to work there so I'm not sure whats in Florida, but I thought perhaps if the evaporator coil was inside the basement or closet, it would be able to be much colder, atleast the system would have to work less to maintain the needed temp of the evaporator. Compared to when the evaporator is outside in the packaged unit and weather is 110 fereinheit. I'd like to know your thoughts on this. Thanks.
I see a lot of AC systems set up like this is it the same for a downflow setup for me I'm in a manufactured home my indoor coil is up top blower fan is on the bottom on top of a 20kwh heat strip I assume that the coil can be placed either on top or bottom depending on how it distributes air?
What makes the mini split more efficient then this heat pump? I'm in N. CA around San Jose looking at getting one of these to replace my old HVAC system. Will this unit be economical for this area for both heat and AC?
Does a Goodman heat pump when in defrost mode, should the blower in the air handler be on?
I have a heat pump. In heat mode the out door unit shuts down on high pressure safety according to a HVAV technician. He checked air flow across indoor coil and said it was ok. His conclusion was that systems with R410A should not be ran in heat mode when outside air temp is 65 deg or above. Is this true?
Do you need a 2 stage heat thermostat for 15 kw heat pack only using heat strips and no heat pump . So does the sequencers stage the heating or so I need a call for 2 stage heating for the rest of 5 kw to come on
So what if the unit in the heat mode has a pressure of 500 plus then locks out but runs ok in the AC mode?
Does this means that the TXV is bad on the HP?
Can you charge a heat pump on heating mode?
can use 5 ton air handler for 4ton condenser
I just got a new AC installed but it is not cooling my home.
I let it run from 1:00pm where is was 83deg until 10:00pm where it was 82deg.
And I think the only reason it went down that one deg is because the outside temperature went down after dark.
I noticed the Air handler they installed is extremely larger, to the point I can no longer put my air filter in because the air handler is to tall preventing blocking the slot where you slide the air filter in.
They have crammed two air filters over the sides of the triangle shaped air handler. And they are getting wet from the condensation. which means when it is time to change the filters they will fall apart and have to shove my hand over the copper piping to try to get it out..
The blower works fine. I can feel the air coming out strong from all vents but the air is not cold.
Could they have installed the wrong size air handler.. And with it being so big and air vent shoved directly on the air handler block air flow preventing it from cooling the homes air??
I have not signed off on it yet. the manage is coming by today to do the paperwork.
But I dont want to sign off, because the house is now 89 deg..
Any info would be appreciated.
which line should be insulated, the vapor line or the liquid line?
@19:05-19:07 what was that thing that popped out from behind the indoor coil?
I have an issue that happens intermittently where I can hear the heat pump turn on (dont know if it is just the fan or compressor or both) when the thermostat turns the system on, but the air handler does not come on. so if I am trying to cool, the temp in the house continues to rise because the air handler never comes on, and of course if I am trying to heat, the temp in the house will continue to drop... is it the start run capacitor or something else? sometimes if I leave system off for a while it will come back on as it is supposed to, sometimes if I set the target temp on the thermostat 10 degrees or more than the inside house temp, it seems to sometimes force it to come on.
very interesting video, how the
My AC is cold and my heat pump is warm but when outdoor temp. drops to below 30s the indoor temp. drops as well. The technician told me that my condensor needs to be replaced but he then suggested that I mind as well replace the entire hvac system. Can anyone share with me what your thoughts are? Many thanks.
Need to get hot water from this as well, How come any US company can not figure it out?
Can I replace a 4 ton condenser with a 5 ton?
Hey guys. I just moved into this brand new townhome, it has a Lennox ML14XP1 heat pump system. Along with the air handler Lennox, Upflow/Horizontal Quantum Coil Air Handler, Merit, CBA25UH, 2.5 Ton, Aluminum Coil, PSC, 208/230V 1-Phase 60Hz, CBA25UH-030-230. Unfortunately, I noticed the heating mode would continuously run all day and night. Until I called the HVAC company. He said he found it to be low on refrigerant. Not sure if has a leak or it was under charged at install. But. System is running better now. But it cycles on for 20 min and off for 5 min now. And air output during cycle is 85 degrees. Runs for 20 min or so. Then shuts off for 5 min. And so on. , is this normal operation for this system. I need some peace of mind. It just seems to run a lot to maintain temp. (70). Outside is 40s. I’m in NC. Please advise if you can. I’m concerned I have a bad system in my new home !
Here Watching TH-cam again..
So If I have a heat pump and i turn the heat on... am I circulating fresh air from outside into my place along with the heat thats being pumped into my home? And if its the ac only sucks air out of the house... no fresh air is being circulated inside right? Im asking because i've had to seal off every single vent door and window in my place because of 24/7 nasty smelling skunk smoking neighbors and want to know when i turn on the heat is that a way that fresh air gets into my place without having to open the windows?
answer a question , does the compressor create heat ? what KW rating is the compressor for say a 3 bedroomed property and also how often does the compressor kick in ? nobody ever mentions the electrical consumption and the flc , minimum size is around 7 KW and that is a lot of load used which you have to pay for , all the talk of how it works means nothing if you dont say the running costs in cold places
I watched this video about a week ago and thought that was a dam condenser even though he clearly states HEAT PUMP! Man now it makes sense!😭😂
👍👍
kinda curious why it takes 24v on the solenoid - sorry just thinking electrical engineering, could be done with just 5v do you agree?
How do i can find how many tons is my air handler in data plate?
Normally in the model number youll have a 24,30,36 etc being 2, 2.5, 3 tons Just google your equipments brand name model # nomenclature
I have a similar system and runs on heat pump at -33F. After that it's supposed to use the electric elements but I don't think I will ever see that happening. If your temperature is -33F then you need a new place to live
I have a question teacher where a heat pump can be installed and where it is not recommended I speak in which state of this country u s a?
Hello I'm working on a Lennox split system. For some reason I'm always getting low voltage to my O terminal when I'm calling for heat. Ac come on. Why?
how you tells it its going to be a refrigirator dat can work in two way's not more or not les .the max heat you are going to get is 18°c -max 20°c
