@laytonregister3027 dang you probably haven't heard classical music then. As a saxophone player myself. Clarinet has a much more dark and warm sound. More in tuned!! Lol
There are so many saxophone quartets in the Netherlands, and you can't switch on Dutch classical radio without hearing one or the other within half an hour playing someone's transcription of some well-known piece. They seem to be immensely popular. I guess it's about the only way for a classically trained saxophonist to get to play and actually make a living. It's a pity there isn't more original material for it.
