This is not HOW to waack. This video shows techniques, without really explaining much of the technique either. The essence of the dance does not lie in this technique though but in the actual movement of the waack and its meaning.
Also you should have done it on disco music and on beat.

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, I had no say in the choice of song due to copyright and so I believe the song was edited over top of the video. I would have loved to have explained further into the technique and essence of Waacking but this was not an option in this sequence. I definitely understand what you are saying, thanks again for your comment! Peace

Arr, this move works, but your tutorial totally ignores an essence of the dance. There is a certain beat that dancer used to pick up by moving like this. Without following the beat and "rules" of the music you creating just an empty dance form.

Yes, I understand what you are saying! And I am well aware of the true essence of the dance. This was not an in depth tutorial of Waacking but a quick intro to just the arms, yes. I could go more in depth and talk about the history and essence of it for sure, which I consistently include in my dance workshops and classes. Thank you for respecting the culture and sharing your thoughts. All the best!

@@Caddy_Superville Elbow position is super important as well as the direction of the chest, too. When teaching the arms without the musicality, precision is key. Elbows should be close to the head with rotation in the shoulder, hitting the "bases" during the punk (hit the chest base, rotate, hit the back with an extension over the head). The dancer stage left has that. It's good to extend and reach, creating lines that are elegant.
The full punk (the back and forth) also has bases. Base goals should be chest and back. It creates another sleek line and note of precision rather than landing the hands just under the chin and the neck. Not easy, but way effective.
You can see the importance of chest position and direction in the dancer stage right as you do the sweep because she comes down facing forward which breaks form. Even keeping feet planted, gotta emphasize sweeping arms down to one side, then facing forward, then sweeping up facing the opposite direction.
Been waacking for over a decade now. Just wanna keep the precision in it if you choose to teach technique without the musicality, expression, or essence (which is perfectly fine in teaching beginners). All the best!

@@jnanashakti6036 Thanks for sharing your way of teaching and your interpretation of the dance, it is appreciated. I do want to correct something though, the back and forth arms are not referred to as Punking. Punking is the behaviour of the dance (Essence) and the back and forth arm movement came from an original Punker named "Tinker".
