People still questioning Boris' accent and place of origin :D Everyone in eastern europe has a weird family tree and even weirder story of life, if you are from here it is normal to have direct relatives in 5 countries and speak 3 languages from birth. It just goes with territory
Not to mention different cultures within each country. I speak 2 languages and have to learn 3 more to speak with family in a country with 114 recognized dialects

You're right! I live in the Netherlands, a very small country. They have at least 8 different accents! It all sounds very different and people from the south, don't understand the accent from the north.

The reason that Boris' accent is "different" is because that, by moving around the Slavic countries, he developed a concoction of Slavic accents to create the Ultimate Slav Accent.
His accent is very much a slav accent. Yeah a bit of it is probably for the show but it's a lot more natural than the fake Hollywood slav "accent". I speak russian myself (i'm not a russian but i can speak russian), grew up among russians and it sounds very much like that.
I have a lot of respect for how politely Boris answered the accent question. He never talks down to people. Also I have a new subreddit I need to join now

Yep. Even here in Finland, we have, like, 50 different dialects and accents. People in Helsinki, for example, have a really hard time trying to understand people from Hailuoto.
His accent is quite strange to me as i'm slav. He's really too soft at saying words and as well - it doesn't sound really clear what he's saying unless you watch the subtitles. I wish he had more like russian accent so i could understand the words he's saying OR if he had that comic accent when it is completely slav and u know what that madness sounds like.. In the US a person from Boston would think a person from Louisiana is speaking a different language entirely (partly true). Then you throw someone from San Francisco in the mix and they all think the other is completely babbling. Same country, different cadence of speech, different sentence structure, different usages of nouns, verbs and adverbs. It’s been this way since Babel, so there’s that.
I liked this! Felt like having a chill time with Boris on a less scripted level, seemed more genuine and personal. Not that the usual videos are ingenuine! This was just a fresh angle on the personality we're all here for, and I enjoyed it. Thanks Boris

I can actually confirm the accent thing. I had a similar childhood of moving around a lot for my dad's job. As a result, I speak a bunch of languages and sound kind of funny in all of them.

Look, it's not rocket surgery, Boris was born in Russia, he is Russian, he just moved around a lot when he was a little gopnik, so his accents are all over the place. As someone who also moved around a lot growing up, I can confirm this happens to most people like us. And yes, since Boris started making videos, he did live in Estonia, but now he is living in Moscow. I don't even know why is this so friggin important. We are all slavs!

And yes, since Boris started making videos, he did live in Estonia, but now he is living in Moscow. I don't even know why is this so friggin important. We are all slavs!
