- THIS WILL SELL OUT SOOOOO FAST... Home Assistant for beginners, but you don't actually have to learn how to install Home Assistant!! The LinknLink ISG ( Intelligent Super Gateway ) comes with Home Assistant *PRE-INSTALLED*, and can act as a Home Assistant Dashboard with zero technical skill.
You can add a whole bunch of Smart Home devices without the need for Home Assistant at all. I've been able to add Zigbee 3.0 devices, Matter devices, Aqara devices and more without even opening the Home Assistant operating system and they all work with Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Apple Homekit!! BUT if I want to use Home Assistant it's 2 clicks from the front page.
This video is sponsored by LinknLink, all opinions are my own
I've been able to add automations, and even use the preinstalled HACS instance!

About to order this. But I have one important question first: will this device work with an existing Home Assistant instance? I __don't__ mean copying existing configurations to it -- but rather, can I link my current Home Assistant to the device somehow, so that all those devices will show up on the device, and that devices added to the device will be linked to my Home Assistant? So just replace the devices internal Home Assistant with an existing instance? If so, sold. Looks really cool.
if I already have a Home Assistant yellow, can I just buy this device and sign into my existing Home Assistant account and keep the Home Assistant yellow running as well? Also, does it respond to the word Alexa, thus negating the need for my echo show?
@@benary5620 Would that not auto configure when you sign into it ?
I'm in for one, thanks for the great review and the discount code! Keep up the great work!!!
Sorry I'm a bit slow on this stuff, I have aqara sensors and hub, would I still need the hub for this gateway to detect the aqara sensors... They are all recent purchases and matter...? Thanks 👍 great videos.
What happened to the list of issues and their fix status that you said you would add? It's not in the description nor your pinned comment
I cant find it either.....maybe Paul from the past needs to look into this with mr socky
It's so amazing that a relatively unknown company can make something like this but Amazon cannot. Thanks Paul for another great video!
I think the word is "won't"
no they want to make everything cloud based because.. that's half their business if not more. then complain that running Alexa servers is not profitable.
If they do that they can't make you too dependent on their cloud service to not pay when they hike the price
@@MitcyDupres it's coming. Who would have guessed selling people's information and their lack of enthusiasm to more subscription services would make a fully cloud based system not profitable
Ordered, with a lovely discount too. Thanks Paul. Great timing as I’ve just started setting up a smart home and a smart takeaway (yes you read that right) after following a lot of your videos and advice.
I love this idea. I hope it succeeds in a huge way. Many thanks Paul
Ordered with your link with your discount. For the price could be one of my best gadgets. Hope you do more videos about it so we can take full advantage of it
Paul you are the very best, young man. Thank you for the product info AND the humor, well done as always. 👍
Glad you covered this for kickstarter. Cant wait for it to ship.
So great to see Mr. Socky again!
Happy Saturday Paul. Thank you.
I’m very excited about this product. Makes me more willing to try companies outside of my usual goto . And this is going to make setting up my parents house soooo much easier. My mom doesn’t walk so easy anymore so I have set up a remote for her lights, set up easy commands and timers on things. We started one room at a time to ease her into it. Starting with the upstairs so she doesn’t have to climb them when my dad doesn’t turn off lights. Vibration sensors and all kinds of things. You are my main source, I love your jokes and watch even if I don’t need the product focus. Keep it up !!
Wow. This looks incredible! I’m very tempted right now…
I’ve always loved your videos Paul. Jokes and all. This looks like an awesome bit of kit.
I just ordered one. I’m in the US and wonder how long it’ll take. 🤔 Excited none the less. Thanks for the videos! Great job. Even my younger son likes to watch them. He thinks you’re hilarious! Keep up the good work.
Informative and interesting as always with great funny parts like the eyebrow and Philip’s Spew 😂. My favourite Saturday watch.
Nice video Paul. This is an exciting dashboard particularly for beginners.
looks like a great way to get someone into smarthomes. Liking the simple interface and the integrations available let's hope this encourages more developers/competition.
Been looking forward to this - I've got one of the boxes coming soon (I hope!)
This is what I’ve been waiting for and perfect timing that saved me from spending money on a few other things. Great discount there as well.
that is very nice! Planning to replace my home assistant current set up with this! I always wanted something that need no subscription and it is user friendly enough for my wife to use it.
I hope Linknlink release a wireless tablet version of this. That's my only hold back from buying. Looks awesome can't wait for version 2
The jokes are exactly why I'm here! 😂
"Paul from the future here!" 🤣 Amazing!
yes 🤣🤣🤣
yeah, it was a great outfit this time
About to move into my own place this seems like a fantastic way to start fresh within easier more integrated system
I've ordered it, from kickstarter and I've already 3D printed the wall mount and marked its location. One thing to mention, it also comes with a BT remote with chatGPT functionality, and there will be an android app so you can "walk around with it" I'm hoping mine is in the post in the next week or two.....soooooo excited!
i can feel you energy.. Love it.
@@Methroughureyes thanks 😊
@cyclemadkiwi did you get the Ethernet version as well or just the one with remote , is it also still on kickstarter ?
@@easytiger24 , I am getting exactly what Paul reviewed in this episode, but it also comes with a BT remote with chatGPT functionalities.
@@easytiger24 or are you referring to the iSG Box? That is pretty much Linknlink's own version of the HA Green, it's the operating system without a screen in a box. The kickstarter has closed so you will need to order from their website.
I'm really disappointed in you! You said "back end" and didn't make a joke. That's shocking!
He's slipping badly. Also missed the opportunity to refer to 'Royal Philips' (that is legitimately the full company name) as 'that company from the nether regions', a perfectly legitimate translation of 'Nederlands' from Dutch into English.
Can't be baited that easily
@@Jdmess9🌚
"Disgusting Unsubscribed!"
Not disgusting enough. Unsubscribed!
Excellently timed, Paul! I'm reduced to using mechanical light switches like some sort of savage! Alexa is claiming all my Zigbee devices are 'Device unresponsive' again. It may be time to fire her and make it stick!
Thank you Paul for yet another amusing and yet informative video, which in this case I did not watch on my toilet. 😂😂😂
Cheer Paul, Thanks for the recommendation, Order placed.. 👍
Morning Sir, happy Saturday!
I was looking something similar to put in my hallway. I dont need battery i will connect it to the wall. To turn off lights when im leave home. Thanks For video!! Love your videos do what yoy are doing!!
Brilliant video Paul. This looks like a great device for spouse approval which I desperately need. Having many problems with our mix of devices and things not working without internet connection or after power outages. Happy to say I have ordered one and used your code.
I think we will get AGI and humanoid helper robots before smart home tech becomes easy and reliable enough for the spouses to fully approve.
This thing has made me genuinely consider HA as an option for the first time xxx
Still loving the reviews Paul.
This one is intriguing.
In Tenerife at the moment.
Nice to watch something English.
Thanks for the code. It saved me 40$. It is sold out but I preordered it and soon hope to replace my PI. The full local Tuya without tuya account and codes keys will be great.
Loooovvveeeddd the eyebrow bit 🤣😂🤣😂
Understandable that LnL would want HA updated in step with their own software, it's all got to play nicely together and that's going to take a bit of checking with each release.
Yes HA core can be updated in iSG - no worries :)
Not having a battery might be intentional and a plus. smarthome dashboards often have a fixed placement and permanent power. that could damage the battery over time.
maybe having it as an option would be nice for future models.
Thank you for the suggestion! You're right - batteries are relatively inexpensive. However, we don't include them for international sales purposes. Battery certifications can be costly, and they often create shipping complications. The iSG's micro USB port supports power input, so you can easily use a power bank as a portable battery solution if needed :)
@@LinknLinkSmart Consider allowing the user to BYOD or bring their own device and sell your integration as a licensed product. This would avoid your battery and shipping issues and allow flexibility to the end user.
8:55 love that you went and got changed just to add a quick update to the video 😂
Thank you seems very interesting this to test out if I can. I'm just receiving a new free SLite Samsung Tablet so this might be a good start for me to test it on if this is possible! Thanks Again and happy Trexing! 🙂
Home assistant gets new features and improvements nearly every release. I wouldn't have security concerns, what I would have is feature envy :)
I get what you’re saying, but I update Home Assistant regularly and nothing ever changes. Plenty of things break 😂 but nothing major changes.
Now and then something big comes along, but then so will these updates for LinknLink
Genuinely impressed.
Ok, I decided to order, let's see if it is as good as you said.
Well that solves the ongoing plan of building one of these myself
Love the outtakes the have me laughing as much as the main video
Love to see the return of mr socky
This has come at such a great time as my solar install is in a few weeks, want a smart home hub installed on the wall near the batteries.
Can it display graphs? Energy usage?
Great work as usual Paul. I note that you didn't mention the ISG box that's the same thing with no screen.
Interesting, I was thinking it would be good with the tablet separate so we could choose which tablet and get the battery support.
Thanks for the video Paul! Any idea if this will be hit with import tax in UK?
Well, yeah, it's sold out. Does look like a very nice product at an ok price. I love the idea of a Home Assistant apk, it should be a thing. Local Tuya support is also great. Having both battery and powered options would be great. Good video as always.
This seems like a very promising device!
This is a great solution for when you want to sell your home with your home assistant setup.
Something I am battling with right now. Most of my devices are Tasmota flashed so difficult for a new owner
OK, I'm impressed, I can see this being a recommend for relatives who don't understand tech.
Well... maybe *after* it has been setup by an uber-nerd. This is not gonna be a breeze to get going. 😆
I can't wait. And that eye brow needs to be more hairy. And agree, even in Australia the LinknLink support seems to be great.
Ohhhhhhhh, _that's_ why you want a ready room. Now I get it
Nice new explosion replacement.
Thanks for the video. It's an interesting product. Is there a link to a complete list of products/protocols ISG can handle? Like Denon? Samsung? Roku boxes?
I like your performance on Eurovision for Latvia!!!!
I've received tracking information so should have mine soon ordered January
Another superb vid - I'm really interested in this, but have one reservation - I wonder if there's a way to import my current home assistant setup. Not sure I could bear to set all that up again manually from scratch 😂
Looks like a solution to the Amazon or Google choice dilemma! I am really tempted to purchase it because my Google home mini and both of my echo dots have become unusable due to glitches I can't resolve and Google Assistant on my TV wants to look up TH-cam videos for most things I ask it.
Paul, Great job as always!
…does this device have Thread capability too?
I felt that 7 of 9 reference in my soul. Harry Kim: party fail of a lifetime.
🤣 I know right?
Great vid, I backed this as soon as I heard about it and can’t wait to get my hands on it. The only knock I have is no ethernet connection for the display version.
Yeah, that might be the only pity on our hardware design but we do include an USB/Ethernet adapter FREE of charge for every pledger (only for Kickstarter pledgers not for this time) and hope this helps :)
@@LinknLinkSmart I didn’t know about the usb to Ethernet adapter I did do the kickstarter pledge so that is awesome news!!!
@@LinknLinkSmartany chance you might add the softwares as a purchasable apk for any tablet with xx type specs?
@@robbojr11 You get the point! :) In the future
@LinknLinkSmart and POE injector?
I'm still waiting for mine from kickstarter. I can't wait.
can you replace the storage or add additional storage? HA can be very read/write intensive on storage and wear it out quickly. if you are unable to replace the storage... this might turn into a paper weight after a few years.
Great review. Paul, Big question for you with your extensive use of Home Assistant would you replace your server with this product. I have seen this as a kickstarter and was waiting for it be "released"
Will there be an update video for this product, showing your usage of it?
This is really cool, too bad I already have a home assistant server AND a tablet as a hub….. I guess if it existed sooner, it wouldve been great for my home… Happy Saturday Paul!
Couple of questions:
1) How are they working with Tuya locally? Thought it was not possible.
2) Would it be compatible with an external existing version of Home Assistant?
Thanks :)
This is a cool idea, it's great this company is coming in and disrupting the industry like it is, this one isn't for me, but could see how it would be great for newbies. Oh what does it remind me of, oh i know, Google Home, yep it's the Google Home Dashboard, which I quite like, being a google fan, haha troll me! :) I'll continue with my old tablet, a little more control. Great video, keep it up.
Are they going to support zwave? And so they have a reboot access or web interface that we can connect to? Doing this all be a touch screen can be a pita. A keyboard and mouse would be great
Very good video, as always. Thank you very much. But one question, have i to reset every smart life device (i have more than 50) to use them in the Dashboard? Thanks
You do have to put them into pairing mode, so yeah, you would have fun with fifty devices 😂
Looks really interesting. Very clever and good video as always
Just a minor point, it's not just security for keeping home assistant updated. It's features, they add them all the time. Major updates are fine, though.
No worries, iSG is designed to be capable for updating HA core in it. We won't release every minor version of update for HA but you will have once they have major release or critical security bug fix.
@@LinknLinkSmart Thanks for that.
Will it be able to link to an external home assistant instance?
@@scollyb To be updated in the future :) You can expect that - it's in the schedule
Great video, as always, Paul. In my house I have a mixture of Philips Heuurrggh, Samsung Smartthings and Govee, all being controlled by Google Home (sorry). How would this device fit in? Would it replace Smartthings? How do we control things from another device, like a phone? Google Home app?
Hello Paul. Really great video and product by the looks of it. I will certainly keep my on on it and wait for it to be available on Amazon. Your editing is really good good. On one of the video inserts you were placed behind the (was it a Star Trek) person which I thought was very clever. And your green screen (if it was green screen) was perfect, no edging around you. What software are you using. Excellent video. I use Davinci Resolve, CapCut and Movavi. Thank you. Take Care. Spoolbox.
Love your vids. Question: Iam looking for a HUB and this seems like the one?
However I want them to be able to show cameras like my Ring Doorbell especially if somebody rings the bell and allow me to use the Remootio app to open the gate?
Is this possible on this.....I know in the Amazon hub it allows you do do this bit on other areas its mot as good as this.
Really nice idea with an all in one and custom dashboard, got some concerns though can't see in shop where it's sent from, no about us info in shop, chat is not responding and their whatsapp is not valid, how fast are it going to get updates and when it does not sell that much anymore are updates just gonna halt.
The only concern is with Hangzhou in the company name. If it is truely all local, and I can firewall off connections to China, OK, but I assume that eliminates all the external control options. Still, it does look interesting.
Good idea, I like it and not as pricey as I thought you were going to say, but a bit put off by those massive bezels. I wish my Google Nest hub worked more this way. Does it work with Smartthings too? I wouldn't want to have to set up the hundreds of automations again!
Is it just a control interface? It would be great if you could see your camera feeds on it too.
Do you know if LinknLink will offer their integration/software as a self install on owner's own table? I think having tablet with battery for portability would make this even better.
Instant like for Voyager clip. Didn't want to dress up as Picard today? 😉
I ordered one, did they tell you how long before they ship?
Is it better to buy this or HA Green?
Ordered one . Tired of HomeKit not working within times and temps I set. Fingers crossed this works as well.
So will you be able to import your current Home Assistant setup? What about if you are using an SSD? Would be nice if you could jet unplug your current SSD into this and go.
Would you need the eRemote if you've already got a broadlink rm4 pro?
When two socks puppets really care for each other, it’s not just sox, they make glove
I've been planning on buying a hubitat c8 but after watching this would this be a better solution?
Just starting out and have some Tuya and Philips. I was looking at Hubitat from your previous videos. Would this work with Hubitat or is this instead of Hubitat if I wanted to add Z-wave and maybe ZigBee? Thanks
It was about time we saw Mr Sockie again
Morning dude! Do you know if linknlink going to release their own integration for ha, particularly for the presence sensors that used modbus?
Is this a Kickstarter or in full production? Also can you access the HA install on the ISG from your other devices: Android tablet, PCs?
I hardly dare to ask.. does it also work with Ledvance plugs? (including electric monitoring). Almost new in HA, and stucked in sh.. to up over my ears this sounds like, it's too good to be true.. 🥳
Do we still need to pay extra to integrate Amazon so we can use voice commands?
My thermostat is sadly a must have for my boiler. Its got its brain in there for temperature curves and stuff. Luckily the cable has 2 extra wires where i could probably loop the power cable through. The only problem is that is 5v so the drop might result in issues. Wish it was 12v
This is Great I am seriously considering mortgaging my dog, a few things I noted is the mains power makes sense for most people as if they are continuously powered (like my fireHD tablet dashboard) it removes having to load balance charging could be an option to offer both down the line. HA updates through linknlink also make sense for stability id think this was their way of ensuring this for the end user (we've all had broken HA updates). Love the product concept. Would love to see it packaged like a hub so i could use my existing wall-mounted displays and interfaces. Also maybe an option to wall mount as the design of that one looks like it would be limited without it either sticking out to far or having to make a huge hole in the wall.
It comes with a wall mount if you like, I've already 3D printed mine as they supplied the file pre release!
@@cyclemadkiwi Good to know. whats the overall depth when mounted?
They are making a hub version without screen. Paul talked about it several weeks ago (which promped me to back the isg kickstarter). It's not listed on the isg site (yet?!). I hope mine will arrive soon.....
@@soundman127 gutted i missed that
@@soundman127 Yes we have actually two models: iSG Display and iSG Box. We don't advertise the box because it is less demanded (but can be purchased if requested)
