    Japanese culture always has this so called “fear of bothering others”, i mean it’s good because they care for people but also in my opinion sometimes it’s too harsh for themselves to contain their emotions(maybe sometimes I just want to hug my boyfriend in the airport because of long time no see)

    You talking about love motels made me smile. In the 70's I got a job working in France as a young naïve man. My company put me up in ta 4/5 star hotel for my first week.
    It was to expensive for me to stay in so I looked for a cheap hotel.
    I found one and moved in on a Friday night, When I registered they asked me "How many hours I wanted to stay?" My French was pretty bad and I thought I'd misheard them I just said "for three days". They looked at me a bit oddly but they said Ok.
    I moved in and then went out for a few beers. Came back late and fell asleep. But woke up almost immediately to a very noisy banging going on that sounded like about 20 people jumping up and down on a bed with metal springs. I thought what the hells that! Eventually the noise subsided and I got off to sleep.
    The following day I didn't have to go to work so I'm lying in bed when suddenly there's a lot of shouting in the street I thought what's going on now? So I opened my window and leaned out. Only to see about 8 women leaning out beckoning and shouting to their "Customers" who were lined up on the pavement opposite.
    It finally dawned on me that I'd booked into a Brothel!!
    I must say though the staff were very kind to me and the breakfasts were excellent.

      @@maegalroammis6020 About the sexuality in Japan, I've found it's quite a weird duality between the respect and that feeling of tiredness that they feel because of the conservative decisions they're supposed to take in this specific context, leading to some cases in which it's pretty close to our way of love. It seems it will change because their population is very old and the government is taking that in consideration.
      Nevertheless, as I see it, we've got to live that in Japan to judge. They must have their reasons and that doesn't mean our opinions worth much more than theirs. It's a different perspective and absolutely valid, as I said.

    It seems the Chinese girl has not been living in China for a while. In major cities sex shops are often seen showing and advertising some of the items they sell ( sex toys, costume and so forth). @Damacki Dragnis Japan is not more puritan than America or Europe. It has its own puritan views, but many are different from western countries.
      The Japanese girl said it would be weird to hold hands in public in Japan, so I assume Japan is very modest in displaying romantic affection relative to western countries such as US or Western European countries.
      Privately, I don't think there exists a concept of modesty. Most Japanese don't believe in an Abrahamic religion.

    • @lemons2300
      @lemons2300 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @Damacki Dragnis I don't really think of this as a concept of hypocrisy, but okay.
      Japan has always had a "keep it to yourself" culture yet without most of the influence from Christianity.
      -Trust me when I say it's easier to be shunned/considered an outcast by society in Japan than in the US or Europe.-
      Countries like Taiwan also seems to be pretty open when it comes to the sex industry, but Taiwanese people still have a lot more Confucian values than Japan due to Chinese culture. South Korea might seem like a good candidate but they're actually pretty hardcore about their Confucian values, plus they have the most Christians in East Asia. So basically no Asian country is comparable to Japan. Everything in Japan just seems to check out for the p0rn industry to thrive.

    • @lemons2300
      @lemons2300 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @Damacki Dragnis
      I think if they are open to the sex industry, then they technically are also open to sex affairs. Love hotels are popular spots for one night stands. Those are technically sex affairs.
      Funny that you bring up the robotic culture. I do feel a sense of societal conformity from Asian cultures in general which I don't feel as much from western countries. But that doesn't necessarily negate/conflict with the interest of sex, I don't think.

    • @lemons2300
      @lemons2300 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Damacki Dragnis Yea, but birthrate is barely a part of the sex culture. That's mostly just settling down and starting a family, which many people feel like they're not ready for the commitment due to their lifestyle. Maybe the cause is something related to this "robotic culture" as you say. I do think Japan/Tokyo has more of this kind of thing going on with them than any other countries (second place is likely South Korea/Seoul, but I feel Koreans are generally more optimistic, fast-paced oriented, less non-confrontational, and less adverse to change). A mundane city life of non-stop work can drain a person from inside out.

      Are you saying you stayed at one with your significant other or that you used one as a substitute for a regular hotel? Because it would be kind of hard, if not impossible, to use a love hotel in Japan as a place to stay as a traveler. This is because, although you can rent them for a whole night, you are not allowed to stay more than one night. In fact, I stayed a night at one in Shibuya once with my Japanese girlfriend at the time and they would not even let us leave to go get something to eat in the middle of the night. Love hotel rooms in Japan are larger and nicer and much less expensive than regular hotel rooms so everyone would use them to stay in while traveling to Japan if they could, but you can’t. I suppose if you were traveling with a companion you could just move to a new love hotel every night and just keep the bulk of your luggage in a locker at the train station. That seems like more trouble than its worth though

      @@SLOBeachboy Nope, I stayed by myself. It was only for 3 nights, but I was allowed to stay there all three nights. I believe love motels in Korea are paid for by the hour, but I could be wrong on that. Honestly, though, it's not a fun place to stay. People aren't normally coming to sleep, so they're located in relatively noisy areas. I was right next to a noraebang (Karaoke rooms) and I had the pleasure of listening to people sing very loudly and off key into the early morning hours. I stayed in one with a tub made out of river rocks and because it was also surrounded by tropical plants it kind of felt like bathing in the woods. It’s not very important and one might even accidentally just spread western considerations of sex, which are simply not the culture of Asian countries.

    i know chinese , korean, and japanese characters are similar and sometimes derived from some form of chinese. is it the same for the spoken language? for example, im central american, and i can communicate with mexicans, hondurans, guatemalans, spaniards, and i can somewhat understand portuguese and italian etc. because the languages are latin based. some of the words are different though, like my people say pajilla (drinking straw) but mexicans say popote, i say sorbete (ice cream) where as mexicans say nieve (nieve to me is snow). so were these women speaking their native language and were easily able to communicate in that same sense? btw the korean woman is extremely gorgeous, all of them are very pretty but she stood out imo. so many culures in the word, so many differences!

    Por si a alguien le interesa saber como somos en Argentina con respecto a este tema, los besos, abrazos, agarrarse de las manos es lo más normal del mundo, donde sea que vayas vas a ver a alguien haciendo estas cosas sin arrepentimientos y a la gente de alrededor no le molesta en su mayoría (a mi me da mucha pena ver porque soy muy vergonzosa, puede pasarle a otros también).
    El tema del sexo no es un tabú tampoco y siempre estamos jodiendo y haciendo chistes con doble sentido. Los hoteles y moteles podría decirse que son cosas 'distintas' porque el motel normalmente lo usamos para ya saben que (aunque puede haber alguien que realmente lo use de parada y para descansar únicamente). Con el tema de la convivencia tampoco hay mucho drama, si te querés casar lo haces, si querés vivir y/o tener hijos sin casarte o pensar en ello está bien también (obvio no van a faltar quienes te pregunten, usualmente personas muy mayores con ese pensamiento antiguo de que el matrimonio lo es todo).
    En fin, somos bastaaaaaante liberales en este tema y es algo que me re gusta porque si bien no vas a andar gritando a los cuatro vientos lo que haces con tu vida, tenés la libertad de elegir lo que querés para vos, sin nadie que te esté mirando mal.

    Koreans have many known places for "hook-ups" - motels, DVD rooms, singing rooms. What shocked me was the amount of conspicuous "happy" massage parlors and brothels. As I'm typing right now, there are a half dozen brothels around my neighborhood, in the vicinity of elementary schools and families with kids just walking about. They have their doors open in the evening to lure customers, and you can catch a glimpse passing by. Yikes.
